Mass Effect 3

Okay... When reaching The Citadel, I managed to save Anderson from being killed by the Illusive Man. Once doing so, Shepherd and Anderson sit on the ground, talk for a moment before Anderson dies from the gunshot he gotten earlier. Once up on top of the Crucible or the "Ultra Citadel", I was given the choice to either destroy, control, or create a new life form. I choose "Destroy" and Shepherd gets engulfed in the explosion. Joker and the gang crash lands on a unknown planet and the Mass Relays have all been destroyed.

So were we supposed to see Shepherd again if he/she did the "Destroy" solution or not? And what ending did I get?

So, has anyone else finished the extended cut yet? No? Well, let me ruin it for you!

Spoiler:
It's still terrible. Maybe more bearably so. They completely avoid the Indoctrination Theory, as expected, so every solution they offer is either retarded or opens up more questions than it answers. Your squad end up on the Normandy because the Normandy now flies into the middle of no-man's land, picks them up (with a conversation beforehand) and leaves, without getting lasered! Oh, and Hackett now acknowledges that someone has made it to the Citadel.

There's still no explanation for Anderson reaching the control room before you, or why you have infinite pistol ammo, or why you can't shoot the keepers and everyone looks the same, or why you're bleeding where you've shot Anderson. There's no footage of your war assets at work, just a bit more showing off the Crucible and the entire fleet. The Normandy crashes because everyone fled through the relay to a rendezvous point, but the Normandy was a bit late because Joker didn't want to leave Shepard. And it's explained that all the stuff that's broken - mass relays, various technology - can eventually be fixed. Not the AIs though; they're still totally fried.

So the Normandy still ends up on the garden planet, but then you see a ceremony for Shepard, Anderson and the others, before it takes off. You also see the fleet headed somewhere (who knows where, considering that it'd take years to get to another system), and Hackett gives a nice voiceover performance bigging up the galaxy's achievements while you see shots of races celebrating on other planets. Which is all well and good, but the big points of contention are still contended. Very little has been genuinely rectified. Shepard still lives in the destruction ending, and the whole thing still makes very little fucking sense.

The problem isn't that they didn't pick up the IT, it's all the plotholes it addressed that they still haven't. The ending doesn't leave much to the imagination any more, but everything people most disliked about it is still in there - the AI child, the creepy photoshopped ending, galactic isolation, Shepard surviving re-entry. It's all shine no substance.

Ah, finally got around to finishing it. Mainly because, due to all the trouble with my original pre-order getting lost in mail, I finally got the game quite late as well and decided to wait until the Extended Cut was out before going to Earth. Can't see why everyone's so disappointed with the ending, although I guess the EC may have improved it.

Time to get my 4th Shepard through ME2, I guess, and then see what the other endings are like.

The extended cut is shit, but at least it's better than the initial endings. Right now, I just feel conflicted about which ending to choose.

The Refusal ending.

Think of it as a rejection of the bullshit Biowear pulled with this game (despite the fact that you actually gave them your money for this shit; lol). Think of it as a declaration that you'd rather lose the war and have everyone die than compromise your principles in favor of one of the hitler kid's final solutions. Reject Casey Shit-son and Mac "The Hack" Walters' vision. Die proud.

Similar situation with the God of War series, different directors every game leads to BS plotholes and twists. The only similarity is the fact that Kratos ends up destroying (most so far) the Greek pantheon. But the end would have been different, I remember one director saying that hey wanted Kratos to become Death itself for example.

It's been months, and I still haven't bought the game. Wasn't too keen on installing another game distribution-launcher application just to play Mass Effect 3. I just watched a lot of vids and read the wiki, and I'm fine with that.

I know this topic has been pretty much dead for months but I figure I would ask. Who else has gotten the Citadel dlc yet. I just need to get past the Cerberus coup and then I'll be able to play it on my current playthrough.

I still haven't played the campaign after watching the original ending.
It left too much of a scar.

Multiplayer has always been interesting but it can get a bit bland at times.

I got the DLC on release day and got to play it today. I have to say I regret not playing it sooner. As more of a fan that enjoys the characters and the relationships and all that jazz... this DLC is just the kind to give one last goodbye to everyone. I enjoyed it in that mindset all throughout. Second half mainly.
