Only old games... somewhat... feels kinda weird to be talking about this lol, I usually have to ban people for bringing up topics of this sort on my old forum :? For a minute I thought you were some undercover admin till I finished reading your sentance xD Well since we're on a site that hosts torrents (I think we do) Jacob would be a hippocrit if he said its against the rules to talk about it.

Old games because even if I pirate new games, what are the chances that it'll come with a CD key? And them keygens? A lot of them don't work. So, I pirate old games and buy new games... it's like the newer the game is, there's a lesser probability of me pirating it.

Downloaded some old games that I wasn't able to find in any store / legal internet stores and was real desperate to play.
Other than that, I think it's quite ''rude'' to the game developers who spent so much of thier time on that game, and just ends up getting ripped off by some dude spreading it for free on the internet :?

If I can't get hold of a game I'll download it, but most of the games I download are H so I can only download it where I live. Any normal game I download I end up buying anyway.

OK, I know I can't be alone in here, so I'll ask again:
Who pirates all the games that come with SecureRom?

Used to ... a lot. Mainly because I had a PC and Internet connection way before I started earning money. The part of the world I live in doesn't help either - it's as common here as rape in Japan.
Anyways - I rarely play new games these days but if I something seems promising I usually start off with a pirate. As for all the old shit I replay over and over again - it would have been a sin not to have the best, most badass, limited editions I could get my hands on, so originals replaced the pirates quite some time ago.

Nearly everything except PS3 games (well there is no pirate one anyway). Hahaaha, like some said in my country, even the manufacturer that work hard to get a way to earn money in order to survive the pirate culture (Yeah, you hear it culture, In my place it is like it is not allowed but anyone knows and still do it anyway.

I used to only pirate things I never intended to buy in the first place. These days I'll probably pirate just about any PC game because games simply cost too much (especially expansions...sheesh) and even then I can't afford to buy all the non-PC games I wish to own. *sigh*

Being that my computer is a PoS AND doesn't have a cd drive (WTF?) I pirate nearly everything my computer can handle and I would like to play/haven't played (which is every pre 2004) although a few of the games I did 'pirate' (*cough* download *cough*) I already have.. but since I don't have a CD drive... yeah.
As a whole though I'm a big Multiplayer type of gamer.. and of course if you pirate a game you can't really play it multiplayer due to a number of things, So thus I do buy a few games.
Also do play/download roms, mainly because I'd rather not shell out $60+ for a old/popular/rare SNES, SEGA, or even PS1 game for a system that may or may not work.

My style of pirating is usually just to test out the game is it worth the money i have to spend on it at the shop. Replayability , gameplay and multiplayer get the big point in this, if those are good. Then it is likely that i'll purchase the game.
Though if there is a chance for me to replay a game that i loved in my childhood (note: nearly same title and gameplay, ex mechcommander 1 and 2, Mechwarrior series), i'll certainly buy that (at this moment it's crysis since there is a Mechwarrior mod coming to it, called Mechwarrior: Living Legends)
But yeah, I want to test out the game first before deciding my purchase.

There's a certain satisfaction that comes with owning a game - especially if it's the first or special edition. It's probably a good idea to wait for it to become cheaper or greatest hits or something, but it just doesn't feel as good when you open the case. Like Twinkies and Twonkies. There isn't really a difference, but you just like eating Twinkies more. If I want to try it first, I just rent it or download the demo. Most new games have free demos to download anyways.
I only download old roms. Well, to be specific I pirate older Harvest Moon games because I know I'll go OCD on everything for a couple days then forget all about the game for a couple months. Also because of those handy save slots that are just so much more convenient than regular saving.

I haven't gotten any PS1 roms yet (not sure if my computer will run them well, the piece of shit), but there are a lot of great games that I can only play with a PS1 emulator, like Marvel vs Capcom, and that game is expensive.
Plus, when it comes to NES games, I'd rather play roms, even if I had an NES and all the games for it right in front of me. Blowing on that fucking machine is too much trouble.

I never steal any video games because I hate pirates. It's depressing to see good games like World of Goo not getting any sales because people can't afford to spend fifteen measly bucks. Cheap bastards. Video games are not a cheap hobby. If you can't afford them, it's probably a good idea to get a damn job.The only game I've downloaded is Mother 3 and that's only because Nintendo hates us and never release it here.
I can understand being upset when people pirate new games, and it upsets me, too, but what about older games? Is there really anything wrong with pirating the original Mario Bros, even if you don't own the original cartridge? It's not like Nintendo would get any extra money if you shell out a bunch of cash for it. And though you could order it on the Virtual Console (I assume they have it), it wouldn't further the idea that Mario Bros is a great game and similar games need to be made.
To put it simply, downloading Street Fighter 4 is wrong, but what about downloading the SNES rom of Street Fighter II?
I'm okay with people downloading older games. What pisses me off if people downloading and playing new games without paying a single cent.

Never steal games except FF7 through torrent, and then I deleted it.
I like it when developers have huge success, especially when they deserve it.

At first, it was only games that I wouldn't waste money on that I would DL. But now I don't remember the last time I bought a game...for any system.

As a game designer, I honestly wish I could support developers, but money is tight and I only have enough to spend on the "A" games, and there haven't really been a lot of those lately.
