Why tell her daughter a story about losing her virginity? Clearly she is telling the story of their relationship like How I met Your Mother. Every day or week is another chapter. She has already gone through their meeting and childhood years. Looking at it again I don't think she talked about the sex, probably skipped that and said they confessed and she went abroad.
