Vanilla Housewife is one of the greatest tag duos ever

I keep saying that. Why is married people having vanilla sex the minority in stories involving married people? Its just weird.

The setup is definitely a bit weird to the point that I have to wonder if the translation is off. He's clearly interested in the idea of seeing his wife get it on with another man, and his solution to this is to ask their mutual friend to hypnotize _him_ into thinking that she's his lover rather than his wife - which doesn't fit with his goal of him seeing her with another man; that would fit more with him wanting to sleep with another woman. However, they then proceed to try to hypnotize _her_ into thinking that she's sleeping with someone other than her husband - which _would_ arguably fit with his goal of seeing her with another man. So, it seems like either the mangaka got a bit confused with the setup, or the translation is a bit off about him trying to get their friend to hypnotize him, when it should have said that he wanted her to be hypnotized.

Either way, it's pretty clear that she either knew that it wasn't going to work and went along with it for the fun of it or that she didn't know whether it was going to work and then went with it after it didn't work. But as stupid as her husband was being, it sounds like she's going to be getting a better sex life out of it, since now she doesn't feel the need to act prim and proper with him. The "Lies" in the title could therefore refer to both her faking being hyptnotized and her having previously lied about how she liked sex as part of her attempt to not seem like a slut.

There are plenty of stories where it doesn't. I'd say it's usually the case that hypnosis works in NTR stories, whereas if the story is vanilla (or at least close to vanilla), then she's faking it.

If they were going to go with that angle, it probably would have been funnier if they'd made it so that he thought that he was having sex with his wife, but it would turn out that they made him have sex with her sister or just gave him a weird dream in order to get back at him for his drunk stupidity.

But unless Tomohiro Kai branches out, or what we have on FAKKU is not entirely representative of what he does, I think that it's safe to say that there wasn't much risk of this not being at least close to vanilla. Everything that Tomohiro Kai has on this site thus far is either vanilla or clearly should have been marked with vanilla.
