Honestly, think about it: why seek solace online when you could turn to the real world? Bullied.
I was bullied a lot as a kid, for being a little weirdo. Also for Pokemon (all girls education all my life, not many fellow fans past the 5th grade), liking strange films, animals, and not being girly or bitchy. I told it how it was and that pissed people off.
That, or people would make a fool of me and pretend to enjoy my self-deemed talents (such as doing animal and character impressions) to later laugh behind my back. Didn't catch onto that for a long time, and sometimes even when I did, I let it happen because the attention from people higher on the social scale than I felt nice at times.
Now, I don't take crap from people. But it made me stronger, more empathic, and a better judge of character as an adult!
