So I'm thinking such pages could also include information on where to legally/physically purchase the artist's work (if possible), or at minimum a link to their website/blog/etc.

If you're not 18 yet, give it some time. If you're still interested in cutting ties by then, so be it. Just think it over... that's a blow you can't easily take back. At least your mother has helped you through life in some way, no?
She may be at a bad time in her life, but don't discount all the work she did to raise you.
And if you can't honestly (realistically) make it on your own, family is a good link to keep around.

But summers are busy con times, no? And since the Fakku name/brand are more in demand now than previously, the staff still may not have adjusted to the pressure. That said, yes, shit needs to get done, but in my opinion it's being handled in a decently humanly-possible way.
