Maybe we should start a pool or something where we guess how long it's going to be before the next fakkup.Hmm my bet is on 3 months. We'll break something again in 3 months.
So tonight we had some pretty big server issues that resulted in a good amount of forum post data gone missing. We are actively trying to fix it, but the outlook at the moment is grim. It appears that this will only affect posts made over the past month. And unfortunately there was an issue with our backups as well, so we may not be able to recover the data. But on the bright side we fixed a lot of older uploads that had been broken due to an encoding bug, so at least there's that.
Moral of the story: make backups of your backups.
Here is a recap post of everything I have uploaded over the past month. And any uploaders reading this can feel free to make a similar front page posts with your uploads.

Today I bring you something a little different. Some of you may be aware of the recent amendment (Tokyo's Bill 156) passed in Tokyo restricting the sale of "harmful publications". This has widely been misinterpreted online as the death of ecchi manga and hentai or the "anime and manga ban". Though the bill is something that should be opposed due to it's attack on freedom of speech, its implications were greatly exaggerated by the English speaking community.
In response to the bill manga creator Takeshi Nogami (Sailor-fuku to JÅ«sensha, Panzer fräulein ALTESEISEN), anime writer and setting advisor Takaaki Suzuki (Strike Witches, Last Exile), and translator Dan Kanemitsu (new Evangelion films, Love Hina) collaborated on a doujinshi about the amendment. It mainly involves Tokyo governor Shintaro Ishihara who strongly supported the bill and signed it into law. There are also Japanese essays at the end of the doujinshi which I could not find translations for (if you have the translations, post them!) Click the image below to check it out.
Oh, and it's in English.

For those of you who live in Boston (or anywhere near there) on January 20th the Gantz movie will be showing in the city! Gantz is a pretty damn awesome manga/anime and I recommend everyone check it out. You can discuss it on the forums here. If you are attending let me know, I'll be there to see the movie and I'll be giving out some free stuff, most likely some of these.
So if you live nearby send me an email and you can get your tickets here! It's showing at Regal Fenway Stadium 13. It's not everyday we get to see movies like this in theaters, so the rest of you should see if it's playing somewhere near you!
Update: Created Facebook event!

You just wanted to throw it out there that you went to Disneyland with two Asian chicks huh? This. Entirely this.
I encourage this, I would love to see more cosplay of Momoka. And if you do it for the FAKKU meetup at Otakon that would be even really awesome.
There are a bunch of reference pictures scattered throughout the introduction topic.

And to clary, Momoka was created by himeko (http://021.deviantart.com/) and cosplayed by mostflogged (http://mostflogged.deviantart.com/). Two different people.

I want to apologize for my lack of activity the past few weeks, I have been meaning to release some new things for a while now but haven't had the time. That said I just got back from a much needed vacation at Disney World! Here is a picture of me with a giant Lego Woody (and my superior mini attempt). I was on the vacation with akichuu and himeko, both of whom I met thanks to FAKKU. So go check out the forums and make some friends. And you can see some more random Disney World pictures on my Twitter.
I'm gonna start replying to all the emails I have been putting off the past two weeks, so I apologize to everyone who emailed me and never got a response (you will soon). And everyone else, check out these new landings pages I have been working on and tell me what you think!

Also nekohime is running a "Top Chef" contest in the Food and Cooking forum for January. If anyone is interested, check it out! https://www.fakku.net/viewtopic.php?t=57486

†Ž2010 was an amazing year. We have traveled all over the United States attending conventions and meeting all of you in person (we were at well over twenty in 2010). And this marks my first year as an official guest on the convention circuit (got a bunch of awesome announcements regarding that soon)! FAKKU has grown exponentially in the past year; we released a new streaming video section, announced Momoka as our official mascot (created by 021, and who was immediately cosplayed by mostflogged), we started giving panels at conventions, had a massive dual meetup with Danny Choo at Anime Expo, almost released the new tag system on manga, and much more.
Thank you everyone who was a part of it and lets have an even better 2011!

You should post a picture of yourself. Also I will be at Anime Boston, so whoever you cosplay as it had better be good.
