Hmm. It seems to me that your tastes are simply very different from the rest of us. Not that I disagree on the titles you mentioned, but some recent well-written titles, such as Sola and EF: Tale of Memories, are conspicuously missing. If it takes some unconventional twist on the romance genre to hook your attention, I daresay you're probably just bored of the genre, which is understandable if you've been watching the same type of plot over and over.

Each to his own, I suppose. And like I said, if you're going to approach anime at this present age expecting some sort of expert master plot, you'd best turn to other media. It's more pop culture than anything else now, and you know what pop culture is if you evaluate it that way. Trash.

The way I see it, just enjoy them the way they're supposed to be enjoyed, and not say to yourself "this is garbage" over and over again in your head every time you watch something. I mean, you could say the same thing about Asian music. All of them are trash in my opinion (J-Pop, Cantopop etc.), but I still enjoy them from time to time.

Well, I'll also say this. It would be difficult not to brand you a troll if you suddenly come along and scream "CLANNAD IS PURE GARBAGE", giving the tribulations of Sunohara as your only reason (which is only a small part of what Clannad is). And, I hope, and think, most of us don't randomly go around shouting "ANPAN!" all of a sudden. >_>

About visual novels, I used to think they were a giant waste of time. I still think most of them are a giant waste of time, but I've grown to like playing (or rather, reading) some of the more popular titles. And occasionally, as in the case of FSN, playing the visual novel is truly a rewarding experience. Clannad, so far, has not disappointed me (too much at least. I did feel they had far too much Sunohara in the beginning days though). I can, however, see the day when I'll find every single one of them a giant waste of time, and instead opt for the CGs (although I'd probably have killed off my already dwindling devotion to eroge/anime/manga by then).

What's wrong with talking about Tomoyo After on FAKKU? Has it not been clear to you that, while the main binding force for us here is indeed hentai, we want to be more than just a generic hentai site? And, if I may say something, people might actually be interested in this stuff, hence my very rough but acceptable translation of a passage of the game to share with those who might actually enjoy it.

Hey, look: I've been with this anime industry for the last decade in a half. The last "good, moving" story I saw was Miyazaki's "Mononoke Hime."

Me being the minority here is just sad and frightening, though. I can't enjoy what you people call "a good story" when I have "reverse domestic violence for the sake of comedy" running in the back of my head. It's been like that since the early 90's.

Clannad is not the type of story that's supposed to thrill. It's not something that's supposed to jerk your tears out like Hotaru no Haka. It's simply something that's supposed to be subtly beautiful. Yes, it might not be the most realistic thing in the world, but that really shouldn't detract from enjoying it. And, like I said before, if the perhaps excessive use of Sunohara in the game (which I do agree on to a certain extent) affected you a lot, then fine. It's no reason for you to call the entire thing garbage just because of one little thing like that. And oh, some people might actually like the comedy?

And every time someone defends a show like Clannad; throwing all types of excuses why they believe what I say is wrong, I add another "ryonna / belly-punch KO" video to my YouTube favorites. There's got to be an end to this garbage somewhere.

I hope you're satisfied. Two reasons I didn't tear him apart straight away.

1) I couldn't be bothered to write that much. It wasn't worth it.
2) His method of speech screamed of bigotry so I decided to respond to him in a trollish manner.

Key's merit, as you yourself stated, is to pull on your emotions, which I feel Clannad does a good job on. Not the art (although I love the art in Tomoyo After), nor the setting (the rather unremarkable and overused classroom setting), nor the heroines (yes, Kyou and Tomoyo are wonderful, but they really don't have much standing against the big shots such as Kousaka Tamaki and Rin Tosaka). So why not enjoy what they do best and let yourself be emotionally swayed? And, I acknowledge the fact people are different, so if it doesn't affect you, fine. It's really quite pointless to use literary criticism to analyze this sort of stuff in the first place when their purpose is to simply appeal; it's pop culture, and not some elite art form. So if you don't like it, fine. There's no need to call it garbage, and denounce everyone who likes it at the same time.

I see. I haven't really played that many bishoujo games yet, and I see what you mean by 'boring generic bishoujo love crap'. I've only played the Misae, Tomoyo, and Yukine arcs, and am in the middle of the Fujibayashi twins arcs, but I decided to play Tomoyo After first. So you could say I've experienced the best the Clannad game had to offer so far, and I like it. Granted, it's not epic and incredible the way Fate/Stay Night was, but it's a nice one to open up and play after an eventful day.


I seriously doubt anyone really knows much about this game at this point. Looking at the walkthrough I found yesterday, I think you're hearing it from people who just randomly picked choices without understanding anything that was going on, and getting bad ends. Seems like there's a "true end", and, although I don't want to sound like I'm very sure because I'm not, it doesn't look like it's gonna be that depressing.


Heh. I have a lot of the older ones, but they really aren't anything spectacular. They'd probably be translated by us by now if they were worth it. XD As for the newer ones, well, you guys probably know better than I do.

But, to be honest, I don't think most of the Clannad girls are suitable to be in doujins. =S

Oh wow. I myself think Clannad boasts a plot that really touches subtly on some of the biggest and most important themes in life (love, friendship, family etc.). If all you managed to see in the series was Sunohara getting his ass kicked by a girl (which, if it bothered you, suggests you probably need to change your values), I suggest you give the series another try and, maybe, think a little deeper.

I myself was moved by some of the routes in Clannad a great deal. It made me smile, laugh, and cry. I could really sympathize with the characters. If explicit and hardcore sex is what you want, you're surely barking up the wrong tree.

As some of you said, the main concern as of now is to improve the userbase, which as of late has worsened remarkably in a very short time, but I do like the idea of featured topics. I will try and come up with something once I have the mod system up and going.

Jacob's also come up with a few cool ideas that should encourage intelligent and contributive posting, so we'll see how those turn out.

Deft_Monkey, you make some excellent points and I thank you for your opinions. For most of what you wrote, I'd say "all is going according to plan". XD

I will agree that perhaps I made Kyle way too smart and obscene in his language in the prologue. I suppose I could have made it more silent, where Kyle just does the deed without saying much at all. I suppose I might change that when I revise the story when it's finished (if it ever gets there). =S

I speak from experience when I say that, especially for young men like Kyle, that if you have the talent and looks, and are constantly being admired by everyone around you, arrogance is only too natural. I remember being far more arrogant during my high-school years at times, and I've frequently been labeled as 'cocky' and 'arrogant'. Remember that I'm dealing with the so-called 'popular folk' that most people seem to hate in school, and if you noticed, Kyle isn't very well liked by the boys. In my planning notes I did indeed characterize Kyle as 'somewhat arrogant'. ^_^

Does Kyle seem to be of normal intelligence now? Hmmm. That might be another point I need to take note of in that case. I wouldn't say he was that mature, since he wouldn't have raped Sanae otherwise, but give me specific examples of where he doesn't seem very smart anymore and I'll look into it. Although, with things such as love and life stuff, it's rather difficult to handle at any age I reckon. I suppose I'll make him speak slightly more formally to convey a sense of maturity.

I'm glad you liked Sanae, and I'm even more glad that you've described her in the exact same way as I had intended her to be. Unfortunately, poor Sanae will suffer quite a bit in this drama.

And oh, I have so much drama planned out involving Alia. She will become terribly hurt emotionally in Chapter 2. In fact, her getting severely hurt is key to how the story progresses. I'm actually glad you said 'she reminds of every girl in high school that I ever knew', because it's what I intended for her beginning characterization. If you remember that this is set in a secondary school (high-school pretty much), considering someone with her looks and her privileges, her somewhat extreme girlishness and ignorance is justified. She hasn't really been 'hurt' yet, so to speak. Also, bear in mind she's in love with Kyle to the point of insanity, which is the main reason I put in the masturbation scene, apart from perhaps some pandering to the FAKKU folk. *blushes* As for 'thrusting', I just couldn't think of another suitable word or phrase to use that wouldn't disrupt the flow of the story, but what I meant was the involuntary hip motion that some girls do when heavily, heavily aroused (ie. during masturbation or sex).

Looks like I rambled quite a bit myself! And, no, I won't make an ending where everyone kills each other with hack-saws and kitchen knives, but like I said, I don't really know how to end it, so who knows. A harem ending is unlikely however, not because I don't like it, but because it just doesn't happen, if you get my drift.

OK, now that I have your attention, here goes.

A number of us here on FAKKU have expressed concern about the current state of the forums. While I encourage more of you to post and was very happy to see the number of posts per day increase to record-breaking levels, this happiness was quickly quelled when I noticed a few of the new posts are, bluntly put, not very intelligent.

Jacob and I are in the process of enacting a mod system, because, as many of you have noticed, the forums need it. I also think it is time that you all follow some common sense rules before posting, and once I have a mod system and a report system set up and going, I will punish people that are ruining the forums for others.

1) Be considerate. Don't just start flaming people for no reason; you people are better than that.
2) Don't be retarded. Please, use that gray matter of yours before posting, or suffer the wrath of the FAKKUZA (and a possible de-rep storm).
3) Create topics where they belong. If your topic is obviously a request, make it in the Requests forum. If it's something retarded, make it in the Incoherent Babbling forum (which will probably be the only unmoderated forum). It's extremely tedious for the staff if we have to clean up after you.
4) Make sure whatever you're posting doesn't already have a thread. The forums have a search function, which you can find here, or the top of the forum index. There are no less than six threads asking about the image section all over the forum and it's driving some of us nuts.

It's really all common sense, so just think about what it would be like for someone else to read what you've written before you post it. Here's some information about a few site-related issues:

1) The video section. We still don't know why many of the videos were suddenly removed, but it is very likely due to legal issues. So, it is unlikely that we will reupload them, and I apologize for that.
2) The image section. We are this close to putting it back up, but are fixing one last compatibility problem. So stop asking when it will be up again, because it will be up when it is.
3) Signatures. It's amazing that someone actually asked about it even though a previous news post explained it fully, but they're gone because we want a less cluttered forum. Will we put them back in? Who knows.

Any retarded topics will be deleted immediately, and if you are dumb enough to post them again, a shiny silver hammer will fall on your head. I'm sorry to have you wonderful people read something like this, but I have received too many complaints to ignore it any further.

Now that that's done, have some hentai! I hope twenty is enough for you.
