I wonder what it is about games that girls don't like in the first placeI believe it's less about the games themselves and more about "gamer culture." It appears to me that the problem is that gaming was—and I guess by some people still is—viewed as a male activity. It doesn't help that the sexism of the participants in this male dominated activity discouraged girls from joining the club. On the bright side, the current trend is toward more acceptance of females in gaming. The less people in this community are surprised that girls play games and can actually be good at them, the better off gamer culture will be in terms of gender equality.

Why are girl gamers with awesome gaming skills hard to come by.The vast majority of gamers are male. Because of that, the more proficient females will be rarer than proficient males. I believe that is an idea kenayagami was trying to convey, but he couldn't articulate it in english for shit.

props to her for representing her gender.Dat inadvertent sexism. When it comes to guy gamers, we don't think they represent their gender, but themselves; if some people actually do think that, then they're fucking stupid.
This aversion to e-books seems like a recurring example of an older generation's fear that the way of life (in this case, how things are read) they're used to is being changed by the newer generation. Back in the days when the scourge of writing information on paper reared its ugly head, I bet the older generation lamented that the newfags wouldn't experience the bliss of memorizing whatever stories it was standard to know and passing them on by word of mouth; now they get to experience reading from some shitty pieces of paper with smelly ink on them.
I don't think that we'll ever get rid of books, but I do predict that digital books will eventually become the standard. As someone who prefers to read books on a portable gadget, I heartily welcome this change.

New and relevant extra credits episode:

Most of their critique is dead on. I remember that opening being boring as fuck, mostly because of how slow the carriage was.

Besides, considering how on-rails most "real games" are these days, I don't think the difference is as profound as some would claim. The thing that I can see separating shit like an on-rails shooter from a typical click-to-read VN is that the former demands that the player engages in an interactive activity: aim there, shoot that, toohardusenukecheatlol, etc. I've "played" a few VNs and the whole clicking to progress the plot thing seem like the digital equivalent of turning a page. It's also possible to lose in a game through shitty interaction with said activity (i.e., dying because of a noob mistake like shooting air instead of ripping new assholes). People don't "lose" in VNs, they just reach undesirable endings.
