The horrendous irony being that for all intents and purposes, Cook County is a fascist police state!
Medical Mec, I wasn't saying homosexuality is hereditary, just that it's built in to oneself.
As to Renovartio,
Why isn't it? Do you choose who you are attracted to? Does a homosexual just choose to like other men, to be fundamentally attracted to them, even in an adverse environment (such as the conservative south)? That kind of reasoning makes it seem like they just want to stir-up trouble. Likewise, does a straight man just randomly think "You know what, arbitrarily, I will choose to be sexually attracted to sexually mature women." Does a transgender just decide that he/she is in the wrong body? Or in the extreme, do guys just decide to become kiddy-diddlers despite the massive legal and societal consequences?
I would highly suspect that is not the case. If there isn't some fundamental wiring in the brain, then why are we attracted to people? I think that we as humans are [by majority] fundamentally programmed to be sexually attracted to the opposite sex, as that's how we reproduce. Likewise, I think that like any mass-produced product there are errors in manufacturing, and sometimes it means that instead of liking tits and ass, a guy likes toned muscle and another cock.
I just don't understand how people can think it's choice. You also say environmental factors, but we have homosexuals coming out of all kinds environments [and excluding sexual abuse as that will fuck-anyone up permanently], and at the same time homosexual households don't just magically make their adopted children gay by default.
Maybe there is some environmental factor but I just don't understand how there cannot be a major part of it in one's inherent brain chemistry.

I've always hated America's obsession with disinfecting products. I completely keeping a clean kitchen/bathroom and not living in a pigsty, but those Lysol products; "Kills 99.9% of bacteria", what about those millions left over that aren't killed? They just reproduce and become resistant! No-one, or more appropriately, enough people haven't considered that and thought it was the least bit troubling?
Of course not! We can;t get sick, that would be inconvenient, it would be too much hassle! Slow the fuck down, America!
It's like what George Carlin said; "Your immune system is like an army, and like any army, it needs practice othersie it gets slow and sloppy [paraphrasing]."
We need to kick our addiction to disinfectants and antibiotics. They have their place, but they are massively overused.

Wow. You admit to being 'pretty ignorant in general' about gun issues, then proceed to give an unsupported opinion. Hmm...Ehhhh, where to start? How can I justify what I said a bit???
I just felt like there was very little actual talk and a whole bunch of arguing on this thread. No one really seems to want to talk calmly about the subject. The whole conversation's a little too heated, in my opinion. This is, after all, a thread on a freaking porn site...
(On a side note, Wouldn't it be interesting if everyone was forced to flip their position on the issue??? I think we might learn something from that.)
I guess I just wanted to put out my opinion out there without sounding arrogant or stupid. I think the view I stated in my previous post corresponds well with the American public (as far as I can tell, which - again - doesn't mean much)
If what you are saying is true (I'm just too lazy to check out your study, so I'll take you for a credible semi-sorta-expert...) then most Americans have a very distorted image of guns. I think I represent the average American pretty well here (The Irony is that I'm Finish. XD) and I don't know much about guns or gun control simply because I don't care.
Don't get me wrong, the issue is obviously very important, but I just think that even here in America, I don't have much of a political voice...
(Don't I seem like a hypocrite now... Oh well, squiggly~~~~~)
Well, recently, I learned that the UoF study I quote only had a 5000-large sample group. But even if the number of Defensive Gun Uses (DGUs) is only 5% of what the UoF stufy states, then the number of murders prevented still significantly outweighs the murders committed.

I'm done with COD altogether.I'm not saying I hate the game, MW2 was tits drizzled with caramel, it's just that the weapons were painfully inaccurate from a geopolitical stance. And now Black Ops threatens to do the same from a historical perspective. I think I even saw a SPAS-12 in the Vietnam part.
Spoiler:
Fuck you Treyarch, fuck you an your research staff.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the game does have a portion set in the Vietnam War, right?
Well...they fucked-up a pretty big detail!
@ 0:25
Where do I begin? At no point in the entirety of the Vietnam War was ever a 11.5" barreled M-16 variant fielded. Eugene Stoner would have killed half the Pentagon and the weapon would have been shit (with a 1-12 twist barrel and Vietnam-era M193 loadings). Furthermore, every single M-16 upper receiver back then had the integrated carry-handle and A1 style rear sights, not a fucking flat-top and a flip-BUIS! Jesus Christ! The notion of a universal optics mounting system, let alone the 1913 Picatinny rail, was even conceived at that point! They wanted to mount the Colt 4x20 scope, that's fine, that's period-kosher, but do it how the US Army did, on the fukkin' carry handle! Fuck!
Sigh...At least the got one thing right and rendered the upper receivers without the forward-assist. (And I know it's Vietnam-Era solely because of the lack of FA's on the guns!)
Fuck Treyarch. First the COD franchise gets raped with geopolitical weapons inaccuracy, and now historical context issues? God damn...

I don't want to get into a debate. I think we're all entitled to our views.I just think if we make a value judgement, it appears guns cause more death than they save lives. I don't know the exact statistics but it seems hard to believe guns would save more lives than cause needless death. I'm not trying look like an expert here. I'm pretty ignorant to gun issues in general.
I just think that the average joe should have a need to own a gun.

Well, I have evidence (I found a credible source). The National Self Defense Survey, a peer-reviewed survery put out by University of Florida's criminologist department in 1994, estimated that, nation-wide, there were around 2.5 million instances in which a firearm was used in self-defense. 15.7% were instances in which the 'defendant' genuinely believed they would die in the encounter. That's close to 400,000 lives potentially saved from the presence of a firearm. now, surely as the rate of violent crime has been declining, so has the incidence of firearms used in defense. But that's still a big marble to drop in the circle.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (CBS/AP) Do you want fries with that gunshot wound to the leg?
That is what one Arkansas would-be robber may have been asked, as the Burger King worker he allegedly tried to holdup Monday grabbed the gun and fired it right back at him.
The robbery suspect, 22-year-old Jason Robinson, was treated early Tuesday for a thigh wound and taken to jail, police in Pine Bluff, Ark., said.
Formal charges are due Wednesday. No word if they will be "super-sized."
The Burger King worker told police she was counting money when Robinson approached the restaurant's office late Monday night and threatened to kill her.
She then started to wrestle with the man and shot him after he put aside his gun so he could stuff cash into a bag.
The woman put Robinson in a headlock and called police, who arrested Robinson.
Fuck yeah, my kind of woman!
Seriously, just how retarded do you have to be to put your gun down with your 'victim' unrestrained right there? Well, he was committing armed robbery, so he must not have been too smart.
Anyone else have any fun stories about stupid criminals?

But actual yandere...scary as fuck. That's what restraining orders and concealed-carry permits are for!

It's illegal in the whole country. Wait 5 years and import a '90 (when it ages into classic status) or have someone in Japan strip one to the unibody and send it over as a 'part'. Then, get all the rest of the stuff from another Skyline, bring it over, and attach it to the unibody. Give the whole thing a new VIN and register it as a kit car. (Yes, it's legal to do that).

1. Yes, The US is the only large industrialized nation with such a high murder rate. But again, Switzerland, New Zealand, the Czech Republic, all three industrialized, western nations that let the civillians have guns and yet, minuscule murder rates. guns might help crimes occur, but that's merely the symptom of socio-economic ailments. You can try and alleviate the pain of a malignant Cancer with painkillers, but that doesn't fix the still-present disease underneath. And besides, if I recall correctly, maniacs in China are racking-up the death tolls just fine with plain-pl kitchen knives.
2. Just an aside, it's only military calibers that are banned from civilian ownership in Mexico. which is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of. Try that in America, and you still have the vast majority of gun crimes committed with rimfire-calibers.
3. Why is self defense not a good enough reason to get a 'license to own a gun'? a gun is the single most effective way to ward off an attacker, even if it isn't discharged. As I said before, conservative interpretation of FBI statistics indicates that more than a quarter-million potentially violent incidents are avoided because it is made known that the defensive party is in possession of a gun. And as to the situation you describe where you already have a gun pointed at you, that is why concealed-carry classes stress situational awareness. You would have already made him expose his intent and reacted to avoid the situation. Yes, sometimes it cannot be helped, but the majority of circumstances are not as you think. If you want to go advanced, then there are effective disarmament techniques.
And why is it ridiculous to think that a hidden knife cannot possibly be defensive? It fits better into a pocket than a gun, if it prints it looks like a cell-phone, and if you are ordered to hand over valuables it looks like you're getting a phone but you bring out the knife and (at least outside Europe where assist-deploy knives are legal)have it ready to go in one swift, fluid motion. You seem to like to spout hyperbole that comes largely from what you see in the media and films.
4. You speak of people killing each other over minor disputes just because guns are present. Now...before we had shall-issue concealed-carry here in Michigan (as well as many other states) we had groups like the Brady Campaign and Violence Prevention Center decrying that we would have blood in the streets and OK-Corral shootouts over parking spaces. Aaaaand guess what? Like I said, Michigan State Police statistics say not one CPL holder had his license revoked due to murder/manslaughter conviction.
5. "People don't kill because they fear the punishment."
Again, another statement based in ignorance. Maybe in Europe, among people you know, that is the case. But here in America, the vast majority of gun owners don't kill and rob because they respect the life and property of others. Not necessarily because they will be punished, but out of respect.
6. Again, you repeat your belief that carrying a gun for reasons of self defense is wrong. Care to elaborate please? Like I said before a Gun is a tool. It directs force up to a ranged distance to disable a potential threat. The definition of threat depends on the person using it, but again, the vast majority of people define a threat as someone who they genuinely fear will eminently commit bodily harm unto them.

PersonDude, you just ate your own foot. Australia has some of the most draconian gun laws of a western(ish) nation. New Zealand though, is much more like the US but with a couple more layers of licensing. Everything else in your last post is good, but that bit on Australia...maybe you should be the one 'checking your charts'.It's state based and if they're allowing 12 year olds to shoot, I think that's pretty lax.
You need to take a look at the various bans and restrictions. Practically nonexistent handgun possession, no semiautos, no pump-action shotguns, no magazines over...two rounds (shotguns), untold licensing requirements...Australia is one of the most restrictive western nations for gun ownership you will find.

They think another AWB is in order.
But we do need more federal LE at the border to enforce anti-arms traffiking regulation.
