Yay! Finally the discussion is moving!
Anyway, I think I've had this "role of moderators" discussion waaaay too many times. Briefly: We are here to make sure threads are in the right places, and to remove spam. The rest is subjective, and there is not really anything we are required (or even obligated) to do or not do.
Also, wasn't your initial plea to the users? Hit a dead end there, so now the responsibility falls on the moderators?

derpNone of this addresses what I wrote. In fact, half it is based on a gross misinterpretation (or logical jumps) of what I wrote.
I'd like to explain it, but I tried to make it as simple and concise as I could to begin with. I fear any attempt to explain will lead to derailment of the point of my statement, so all I can do is advise that you re-read the statement and think about it a bit more.

I treat people based on their actions. Therefore, I do not factor "new and unfamiliar" very highly when I deal with someone. This, however, does not automagically deem my actions as lacking "common decency". In fact, I do believe I was quite reasonable with the fellow, he was the one who accused me of being a liar and telling us we were terrible moderators.

You assume attacking one user is going to equal the lost of only one user. Another user with great ideas or worthwhile could see this and think, "I'm not posting - these people are jerks." or feel that if they posted something that others may not like, they would face the same barrage of insults. Many new member were lurkers at one point - many lurkers are watching what is happening. Do you think this display of hostility to someone - justified or not - is productive to the growth and prosperity of Fakku? I say not, I say we need to give people the benefit of the doubt. The first page of that user's that was an attempt to contribute to the forums, and the same page was used to start insulting him. A moderator should of stop it - directed him in the right way, told him just to make the thread, then lock the unnecessary original thread. Instead, everyone posted insults like this was 4chan, flamed, derailed, and even a moderator or two joined in the fun of antagonizing someone.
I'm not under any disillusion that people on the internet are just a bunch of happy friendly faces, but I do believe that at the very least, we should be more helpful than this - especially those of us who know better.
Fakku is not a rehabilitation center.

Yes it was a typo, I stated before that the "Incoherent Babbling" and "Random" forums had confused me as I felt (and still sort of do) that they meant the same thing. By saying that I would agree with you if I had put the topic in a different section I was talking about a topic thats not as closely related as the "Incoherent Babbling" and "Random".A typography error and a misunderstanding are two different things.

Unfortunately, the report was fulfilled, and we remove reports once they go through. So I can't prove that I submitted a report. So sorry, I should have screencapped it when I had the chance. Didn't see that I would ever be accused of lying about submitting a report on a thread.

I think you need to finish reading my last postMm, glaze over your blooper, sure, we can play "big picture". I agree, the rules should be more defined, but all the moderator's hands' are tied in the regard. The best we can do is move threads, let the creator know, and hope they learn.
