Hiya. Joining the thread :).I've bought a dakimakura pillow from Hobbyheart 150x50 (filling and not cover) and used it for 2 years now. I'm looking for a new one because the one is pretty much flat now, would like one with a good filling.
Hi, welcome to the thread!
If you live in the US, people have said that royal pillow ( http://www.royalpillow.com/body-pillows.asp ) make quite good pillows at very reasonable prices. I believe it was the cluster fiber type people recommended, but I may be mistaken.
If not in the US, then I'd recommend checking local stores that might provide pillows first.. you're likely to be able to find a not too expensive one relatively easily. But if you did want to order one from japan, the A&J line are all great ( http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=CGD2-09761&page=top%2Fsearch%2Flist%3Fs_maker%3DA+%26+J%24pagemax%3D20%24getcnt%3D0%24pagecnt%3D1 -- out of stock.. try checking Hobby Search too, I can't as it is forcing me to the japanese site atm and I cba finding a proxy to fool it that I'm not in japan..) and I believe even have a zip opening to allow one to add more filling as desired to it (this may not be in every variant of A&J pillow). A&J are one of the top dakimakura cover makers (and my personal favourite) and from all accounts their pillow bodies are equally high quality. Though you will end up having to pay a very large amount for shipping a pillow (near to the cost of the pillow itself, often..).

Shimakaze is absurdly popular, still, most of her covers are surely awesome. My favorite is not base on character design though, I am playing it so I prefer ship girls which I have own in game lol. JP post do have box if you prefer buying the official package, should have the one that big enough . But personally, the 100 yen shop (daiso and alike) have got everything you need, like bubble warp or a paper box.
Oh and happy new year everyone. Wish you guys a plenty of happiness, and daki covers.
Thanks, I'll have a look in 100yen shops. I'll ask the hotel staff where the nearest one is, or is there a particular one/branch you'd recommend?
And a Happy New Year to you too! And to everyone here!

My trip to japan so far, filled with dakimakura goodness (and other things):http://www.figure.fm/en/post/51843/%E9%9B%BB%E6%B0%97%E5%A4%96%E7%A5%AD%E3%82%8A+2013+WINTER+in+%E6%96%B0%E5%AE%BF.html

Cool as expected. Congratulation on many rares you manage to get. If I remember correctly, spending day one in corporate booth zone is the right thing to do because it is yaoi day (Correct me if I am wrong).
I expect that you also participate in day2-3 but I suppose there were much more intense that you are having hard time to take a pictures.
I did not have a trip to tokyo this time.Planning on saving up for C86 but I am still looking for any interesting goods that happen to come to some nearby anime shop here (I even manage to get clesta cover from a normal second-hand shop).
Ps. I saw you asking about shipping that tenryuu/tatsuta umbrella internationally. JP post can do it just fine (that green or orange post office) but never expect them to understand english (or maybe they do since you are in tokyo?).
Yeah day 3 was really hectic and had no time at all for pics, so only have posted up my loot in the end:
http://www.figure.fm/en/post/51889/Comiket+Day+3+Loot.html
For Day 2 I had quite some free time, so managed to get a lot of cosplay pics taken too:
http://www.figure.fm/en/post/51873/Comiket+Day+2+Cosplay+and+a+little+loot.html
For JP Post, do I need to bring things in already boxed, or can they provide boxes and insulation on the site? If not (which is what I'm assuming), where should I go to get a decent sized box to fit a long umbrella and to get some insulation (ideally bubble wrap, but I guess I could just use old newspapers too). Though I could just insulate it with dakimakura covers and anime flyers from comiket lol...
I'd imagine they'll probably have boxes on hand, but you might have to pay a fee to package stuff there. I obviously have no experience though, and I don't think it's like Taiwan where the boxes seem to be provided (those bird boxes are quite nice.)
I'll admit, I'm mostly quoting this post to link this to you: http://blog.livedoor.jp/cho_tekitou/archives/36069253.html
Can definitely see why there was such a craze for this cover, even if it's mostly due to Shimakaze being absurdly popular.
Yeah it's definitely a really nice cover of her. Though character design wise I think my favourites are Kongou, Kaga and Tenryu.

Hello guys, I'm a newbie to dakimakura collecting. Shashin told me it would be in my best interest to follow this thread. So here I am!Some stuff I finally got the nerve to ship out:
(sorry about the poor quality)@magus242: totally agree with you. I don't know much longer I can keep at it.. I thought figures were expensive...
Welcome to the thread!
Yeah it's an expensive hobby for sure, but when there's lovely things like that Hisasi cover you got there, it's impossible to resist!
Lycra Water Ring is one of the many slight variations of the 2way tricot material ( for the first cover here http://blog.埋もれる抱ãæž•er.jp/archives/9777 you can see it's even listed as being 2 way tricot lycra water ring ). It's really hard to say without knowing which manufacturer made it too, since the same name of material is often used for slightly different variations depending on manufacturer too. Good that you're happy with it!
4 way tricot used to be used by BWStore long ago I think but they've swapped to other stuff now. I don't have any 4way tricots myself and haven't seen any with that material lately.

Hmm, didn't know about a DM to you, and I can't see any DMs to you logging into my account now either. Odd, maybe I was hacked too :3
Yeah I've been lurking but not really had anything to post, and it stopped auto-logging me in which I never noticed, so never got any notification of that message from you til today when I went to post and was like "oh, I'm not logged in...".
That's good if they do a web order frequently, I shall wait and hope for that I think, really liking the cover (and very happy with their Haganai one so I guess that makes me more interested in this one too).

New kyounetsu cover of Suiseiseki looks quite nice from the preview. http://kyounetsu.blog110.fc2.com/blog-entry-145.html
I also like this style of preview for fighting bootleggers, it gives a good impression of the overall cover while obviously missing half of it still. Looks like it's an event exclusive for now, would be nice to see a web order too.

That's awesome that you got an order into them, Shashin. I received a surprise delivery from B&W Store yesterday morning when a package arrived with both versions of the Kyounetsou 3P cover (tracking confirmation email got sucked into my spam folder). I knew it was coming, just wasn't sure when. Then a few hours later I headed home for lunch and had to chase the mailman down after I missed him delivering my SMJ shipment. Luckily he didn't get too far. ;)

Yeah my Kyounetsu 3P cover (long hair ver) arrived today too. Must say it turned out pretty awesome!

Just curious, does Moe Jinja (èŒç¥žç¤¾) (why can't I write this without having to correct èŒãˆç¥žç¤¾...) ship internationally? They're Chinese and have stuff listed on Taobao as well as accepting Paypal on their main site, so I'm just curious if it's something like Evening Call.I've never given it a try, but I've long wondered the same thing. Paypal is typically the payment method you think of for foreigners, and in my experience, it's the Chinese/Taiwanese circles that are most willing to deal with foreigners (Evening call, B&W Store, Comex.) So shoot them an email, and see what they say. And if they are willing to ship internationally, let us know. :D
They do ship internationally! Though they were quite silent about having actually shipped my cover and never gave a tracking number or any kind of notification til it arrived on my doorstep.

Bought shitloads of C84 doujinshi from melon books, and general stuff from mandarake. Also bought sofmap limited edition lovely x cation 2(came with 2x dakimakura) and a carnelian one.
Gonna go to akihabara tommorow to buy myself a inner dakimakura to bring home. I'm pretty sure I saw one one the 3rd or 4th floor of gamers
Ah I wanna be back in Akihabara too ;( Don't recall Gamers having any pillows last time (they had a handful of older takumimakura covers though). Somehow it's always the place I have to go into first when I get there.. probably cos it was the first place I entered on my first ever trip..

Right now I'm most excited about the B&W Store KanColle and Puzzles and Dragons collaborations... the only problem I'm having is how I'm going to afford most of them while still paying for other stuff/saving for Japan. >_>Yeah interesting to see how they'll turn out, likely to be a fair few I'll be interested in. I can easily imagine the images being finished and pre-orders opening just around the time of the japan trip, or a month before, too... destiny is clearly trying to make it hard for you to save!

Awwww. I miss this thread. Hope everyone's been doing well. Here are some of the goods that came in this month:

Looking good!
Yokatta really are so bad.. It's taken them literally a month to prepare my items for shipping and actually ship them (they haven't even given me the tracking number yet, so they're not shipped still probably..). I'm not in any particular hurry, but really...
Clochette stuff getting put up for order on 6th September, looking forward to that as always. Probably gonna grab the poster as well as the daki for a change, and maybe the goods set since I'm already giving them all my money anyway!1
Yeah it does make a lot of sense, many people aren't comfortable with a fully exposed cover after all. I just hadn't encountered it before.
I would say that that saber is slightly different though, as I reckon they just didn't have a clean sample image to work with without the censor-text so they used the text creatively rather than trying to redraw what's underneath it. Though probably for the same ultimate goal of increasing the audience it might appeal to.
I've clearly been collecting explicit dakimakura too much when my first thought about a cover with only breasts showing is that it's fairly tame ;(

Hmm this is my first time seeing this, it's a bootleg of this cover:
http://blog.埋もれる抱ãæž•er.jp/archives/8031
But they've actually altered it to be more censored than originally:
http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h179462294
I don't check bootlegs all that often, but this is the first one like this. I've seen plenty with less detail or less censoring, but never where they made a safer version of a cover like this before..
