Hmm that sounds unreasonably high of them, they may have made a mistake in calculating it, maybe ask them for a cost break-down on why it's so high.

The anticipation is certainly a lot of the fun, but it doesn't always deflate. Either one meets all my hopes, or I find out I like one far more than I expected from the preview shot. If they all (or even the vast majority) resulted in deflate I wouldn't keep up with buying them I think, but as long as there's a reasonable amount of gems that continue to keep my fires burning even after arrival I won't be able to stop.

And yeah, I'm much more into the bigger boobies (and asses) too, though I can certainly appreciate a cute lesser endowed girl too!

Hmm, I was already leaning heavily to getting the red-haired waitress from moejinja and if it's going to be only that much through yokatta I am feeling even more swayed.

Because that and the previous Momo pillow were both prizes from some competition Jump Square ran, so they're relatively rare for collectors to acquire.

While I too like them to look similar to the anime (if it was a char I liked from watching the anime.. if it's just some girl I like cos she's cute well.. she's cute so that's enough to get it for!), in general the art style used for anime is a far simpler one, to accomodate the need for animating it. While they tend to make a dakimakura cover a bit more detailed than the character would appear during anime, they are restricted in how much they can do without it not looking like the anime anymore. As such the quality of the artwork is forced to be lesser than that of the covers which are not restricted to looking like an anime character design.

As a comparison, take a look at Airi's (the red haired maid.. if you don't know) skirt here: http://www.figure.fm/post/en/33273/Dakimakura+Collection+13.html She looks completely accurate to the anime style, though her face has a bit more effort done on it than usual and she looks very cute. Now, take a look at the skirt on Serika (the pink haired first girl) here: http://www.figure.fm/post/en/33427/Dakimakura+Collection+14.html Both skirts are similar in design, having a black upper layer and a white underlining (serika's has multiple layers but that's not important :p) but the level of detail on serika's is vastly higher than that of Airi's (and similarly for the rest of the image too).

I still buy anime styled ones frequently because of my love of the characters, but other styled ones (be it eroge, or doujin circles versions of an anime char) do have superior art and are worth checking out too!

Currently thinking I may need to have yokatta order it and store it a until til my trip is over. Kinda feel stupid to pay a proxy service for something that can be shipped directly though... Don't really have anyone around here I'd feel comfortable shipping a naked dakimakura to. For now I'm asking amiami if they're willing to delay shipping: unlikely but if they would it's solve everything.

Hmm, I think I just ended up here at some point while searching for real pictures of dakimakura (as opposed to preview pics). I did encounter Shashin before on Tier's tentaclearmada site, where they were talking about dakimakura and mentioned the blog which was when I first discovered it. I was only lurking though and didn't participate in that conversation so he wouldn't know about it ^^. Think that was some time in early 2011.

Hmm my first was the Kanu one which came with Dengeki Festival... which checking now was way back in December 2008. I've not been quite as crazy (or dedicated you could say) as Zengar or Shashin as my collection is in the 60-70 range now I think. I too was big into figures first, and still get the odd few now but not spending remotely as much on them as on dakimakura. Thinking about selling off some of my older figures and a few of the dakimakura I'm not as fond of but somehow never get around to it. ;(

Momo's face doesn't really look like her at all :( Also the hair color is a bit too far from pink too imo.

I've got 1 cospa pillow atm and I would say it's alright but not amazing. It's only a 150x50 one so 160 covers all have a bit of a gap at the end.. but I almost never look at the feet anyway so it doesn't bother me. I'd be tempted to get a AJ or dreammaster but I can't really fit a second pillow anywhere and am not so unhappy with the cospa as to want to throw it out yet. Haven't had any issues with it causing any damage to dakis (as far as I can tell) so far anyways.

I do also feel the illogical compulsion that paying so much on shipping a pillow is stupid while happily paying far more on the pillow cases all the time. Can't really explain it lol.

http://twitpic.com/8bdqow my pillow mountain is starting to look somewhat like this too now :p Though I've stopped folding things vertically if I can avoid it and only horizontally 2-3 times instead. I find that a vertical fold can leave a much more noticeable and disruptive crease straight down the middle of the image than horizontal ones end up giving. Doesn't matter much if you're using a pillow filling to stretch out the creases, but if you also hang them as I do then I'd recommend trying to avoid a vertical fold!

Just as an FYI, the dakimakura blog has on the left side a window with a list of all the soon-to-end order periods for the dakimakura (the part with dates 2012/1/23 to 2012/1/29 atm, as you can see lots of things closing on the 29th). Useful to check every now and then in case any of them are of interest to you.

As regards male covers, I had thought Tiger&Bunny had some too, but they're something uh.. else.. Barnaby and Kotetsu they're "udemakuras" or "arm pillows" and to be honest I'm not exactly sure what that means. They're larger dimensions by far compared to a normal dakimakura at 210x140, which sounds more like a bed sheet than a dakimakura, but I dunno, maybe they'd suit your purposes if you are a tiger and bunny fan..

Yeah I was tempted by that one too, but ended up prioritising other ones over it. It should be available to order until Jan 31st, so you shouldn't have any problems with making the order date even if yokatta reply slowly (generally they reply within 24hrs or less so it's fine).

Hmm yeah now that you mention it Zengar, there is a huge lack of Luka covers, or at least recently anyway.
