Do you guys ever try to browse for proper pictures of released dakimakura? In general there's not much point searching english sites, but for browsing japanese ones I find that searching for "character name (in japanese) 抱き枕カバー (dakimakura) blog" gives best results. Possibly adding in C81 or whatever event it came from too. I have limited success with this approach but it fails outright for a lot of dakimakura. Anyone got any suggestions for any better search terms/tactics?

I just put my full name down twice in english (though the first kanji one had a character limit it exceeded.. after I made the account I was able to edit it with my full name on the edit page which had no character limit).

What is the 〒 field meant to be?

Hmm, currently their FAQ says "International Shipping is available, we will only support bank transfers in Japan until the introduction of payment paypal." So yay international shipping, but how does one go about doing a bank transfer payment? Or maybe the paypal support will be soon available so it won't be an issue. I wasn't planning on getting that touhou 2P, but with the date going as far as late february I may be able to afford it afterall.

The most useful website for collecting dakimakura is http://blog.埋もれる抱き枕er.jp/ which gives info on all the upcoming releases (many require a proxy service to get though as they won't ship internationally). http://ww.nijigenshingu.info/makura/log/index.html is also good, and has info on other cloth products as well (tapestries/normal pillow cases).

Shops like www.amiami.com www.1999.co.jp/eng/ www.hlj.com www.otacute.com etc all stock some dakimakura, though they tend to be ones based on anime which are usually lower quality images (done according to anime character designs which are simple due to the need of being animated..). Though lately they've been getting some by proper artists in stock too. They go by different names in different shops, so try searching "huggable pillow" or "hugging pillow" if "dakimakura" doesn't give results.

Yahoo Japan Auctions, Mandarake, and possibly Rakuten Auctions are useful places to check for dakimakura you can't find at a store or webform (either because they're no longer in stock or were never available except via special events in the first place). You will need to learn some copy-pasting of stuff from the above dakimakura blog in order to find what it is you want. If you ask for help on specific dakimakura info we'll be happy to help you with finding it of course.

Yeah no mention of the poster on Getchu so it's probably a lilith-shop exclusive to make people buy it from there. That's pretty common for webshops which also let the main stores sell their goods. E.g. the Axia sousou dakimakura from the Axia store comes with a telephone card while has no card from Amiami/HS/HLJ.

Lol true, but comiket aside, going to japan is great fun and worth the expense alone. This'll be my third time going this April, I'm going at that unusual time as I'm combining it with a trip to the Philippines for attending my grandmother's 90th birthday, as the increase in travel costs isn't too high then (though still accomodation of course).

Ah I hadn't been checking prices on it, glad I got it on the preorder price too then as she really looks lovely and 19k for only the daki without the other extras is really more than I can justify paying. I'll probably not be having it shipped until Carnelian's daki arrives too, which is meant to be "Mid January" whenever that will end up being.

I'm not really sure :< There doesn't seem to be any direct match for 2way tricot (spandex).

Unfortunately a single person won't be able to achieve all that much. It would only really work on items which everyone wants, and even then often not since they only sell a limited number of copies to a single person (you can queue a 2nd time to buy them again, but you are obviously not queuing for something else you want at that point then). It does work for unpopular things though which still have stock by the end of the day, but most of the popular things sell out in the first few hours (by 12 or 1pm usually). Corporate booths tend to have a bit more stock than that, but still often sell out of popular items in the first day.

Still, one person being there might be able to acquire 1 or 2 items for other people to save some costs. And assuming I do attend one in 2013 I'll be happy to try and get anything other people want, with no guarantees on success of course.

And back on the topic of dakimakura... ordered that cute foxgirl (the version without silicone implants), and my comiket purchases are preparing for shipping to me now, yay! I hope Clochette is slow with putting Fuuka up for order from their webshop so my wallet has some time to recover :(

If you do go, can we unload shopping lists on you to frantically search for at Comiket?!1 Also pm me if you are sure you're going and I'll give you some general advice on attending comiket, akihabara etc..

Typically it's the last 3 days of december (29-31) and around the middle of August (12-14 last year iirc, and should be similar this year). I would recommend the winter one for your first time, as the heat in August combined with that many people must be terrible.. I've only been to the winter one and when indoors (you do spend some time queuing outside) it was already a bit too hot even with just a tshirt on. Adding another 25+degrees celcius to the temperature is not going to be pleasant.

Oh and my Ange cover is by BWStore too (though I got it via boncool when they had 1 pop into stock months after the original release) and the quality is nice indeed.

Hmm, the maker of the boobless version is AJ while it's Asahi International for the boob one, I guess AJ do not approve of implants!

The wrinkles around the base of the silicon boobs would put me off if I had it I think. Little things like that annoy me ;< I may have to get the normal dakimakura version though, striped thighhighs are one of my "few" weaknesses.



99% sure it's the same girl, it's certainly a game from the softhouse-seal GRANDEE line (as indicated in the upper corner).

Going by the character lists of those games there's only one character who appears to match her:

So I think it is her, though I do agree the dakimakura covers give off a slightly different feel to her.

Oh and I was wrong about the red haired girl, it's Takara Tsukino from that 2nd game not Kirishima Misaki from the first game... The magical girl daki is Tsukino, while the other one is Misaki. I should pay more attention to the names before I post incorrect info :p

Lol, actually that red haired girl is the sister of the fourth (also red haired) one I just linked in http://blog.埋もれる抱き枕er.jp/archives/7293 And the white haired girl is the 3rd one there too (which is available in their webstore). As for dakimakura of that particular red haired girl, there's two of them I know of:

Kobun, how did you order those 2 dakimakura? As far as I can tell their pre-order period long since expired and the bwstore shop no longer lets you place orders for ones that have passed? (Not interested in those two in particular, just for how to do it in general).

Male ones are a lot rarer and also tend to be more restrained than the female ones have gotten. Generally only having maybe an open shirt or none at worst from what I've seen.

I too only wanted 1 when I started though, but after seeing how lovely it was in the flesh, I quickly started rolling down this slippery slope.
