I began watching it thanks to this. Was disappointed that it was not an actual rape scene, but wasn't disappointed with the episode itself. It's like the animators were on crack the whole time. Will definitely keep watching this one.
No but I keep mispronouncing it "Zangetsu" in my head.

I had to stop myself from yelling 'ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH' in the first few minutes of the anime. It's pretty funny (dat ring lady getting knocked out) and the fight scenes just like Gurren Lagann, are over the top and really cool. While it's not inyaface, like say Strike Witches (The main offender of fanservice and why I complain when there is too much and it tries way too hard) that outfit she's wearing and the blatant ass shot during the spinning camera wasn't trying a little too hard? I know it's part of the creators style and all, but at least Yoko had an excuse.
I like Fanservice in moderation, even Kodomo no Jikan landed in my favorites because it was backed by fantastic character development and plot, albeit I felt the ending wasn't all up to snuff. Being used as a crutch to sell is where I complain.

No, but it helps to do so. There are people that come for the T and A, Zom. Any show can have Fan Service and mindless action/fight scenes. If this show is character driven, which was promised by the creators, and crazy ass twists that we didn't see coming, my opinion of this anime will skyrocket. I would hate for my expectations of this anime to be compromised by shallow elements.

I know, But.... I don't want Ryuko die, i have a soft spot on female main characters, you know? Seeing a female main character dies, my feelings hurt. Even though they die in a horrible way and heroic way ~ ( O A O)

It's obvious this show is suppose to be over the top and funny in every possible way the creators can imagine, so get use to it or quit your jibber jabber. The main character also acknowledges it's complicated and she's not just wearing the outfit of her own accord, which chalks it up to it's nothing like what Queen's Blade had, and it's not gonna be your precious Gurren Lagann..
The episode, I liked lol I'm also realizing I'm liking the supporting characters as well. The main supporting character(the student that sits next to Ryuko) is funny and brings some laughs to the show for me.

It's already better than TTGL.
Here another opinion; The setting is great but the characters are pretty generative and the pacing and dialougue is way too fast making it tiresome to watch in the lenght.

I'm really enjoying Kill la Kill so far. the over the top characters are so enjoyable and the story is pretty compelling. They seem to be hinting that and it seems like it would be obvious, but I'm hoping they have a twist or something. Though I'd like to find out why Ryouko's father got killed.
