BLACK★ROCK SHOOTER ANIME

I definitely agree. I watched the OVA a little while after subs and some reviews came out, and I was a little concerned, but I really did enjoy it in the end.

Better than the run of the mill ecchi, moe, slice of life bullshit you get these days.

so ive seen a fair bit of hype about it and figured id check it out. so i watched the OVA and was left thinking "WTF" i mean im good with head games and i can figure out that the blackrock shooter was mato and the girl she was fighting was yomi somehow in some other reality. but the bit were BRS got killed in the begening is anouther wtf moment that makes no sense. i thought it was going to be foreboding of something that was going to happen later in the film. but the ending is just a WTF moment. the only thing i can think of is there is a sequal? either that or my deductive reasoning skills are a little lacking. or the ending is ne big WTF so can someone please anwser this question... WTF? now doubley moreso because i was writing this as the dredits were playing and theres a tiny bit that shows them back in there world safe and sound..... yea. the only thing i can think of that describes my thoughts atm is this

It was good. Although the switch from BRS to Mato could have been handled a bit differently. Great idea, but all the cuts away from action to school life was a bit annoying.

I just remembered something while looking for anime to download. I ended up stumbling on [gg]'s website and saw that they did an "abridged" thing for the show and i downloaded it thinking 'great they dubbed it and made it funny XD' but alas they did not :( However, they did make it a whole lot more enjoyable to watch again by taking out the shitty,weird school girl drama and just gave me action! So pretty much worth the download...hell i might upload it just for the shit of it.

Liked BRS. Not a conventional anime. It required some deep analysis as it jumped back and forth into different realms!!! Sigh. People overhyped it though. I like it just as it is :D

I think that the cut between action and school was a risky move but i think i was worth it. Im pretty sure the goal with the constant switching was to balance out the two sides to the story. Chronologically, all the fighting comes after Mato and BRS merge, but if people had to go through the entier school part and then watch the lengthly fighting scene it wouldve been worse imo. By doing what they did they were also able to leave concepts for a possible sequel hidden in there as well. In the end even though it can get repetetive and annoying I think it added a little more livelyness to the OVA, and it also made us question why the fight was happening and what was really going on, and you had to wait till the very very end to find out.

Im suprised at how much I liked this OVA, they did a pretty good job considering they pull the entier concept out of a song. I really hope they make a sequel and I really hope it doesnt kill the first one like you sometimes see with second seasons amd sequels.

I liked it enough to watch it again some time. It was very well animated and every bit as stylish as I expected. In other words, I was just watching it for the eye candy to begin with, just like Advent Children.

My only complaints are as follows:
1. The switches between "worlds" should have occurred less often. It's hard to get a grip on the narrative when its getting changed every few minutes.
2. Yuu showed up only as a plot device to promote the conflict between Mato and Yomi. It was pretty unnecessary for her to show up in BRS-verse and that scene at the end unless more OVA were planned.
3. While seeing parts of the BRS-verse animated is awesome, it's really awkward seeing BRS walking through a desolate land with random crosses placed amongst it. In terms of the narrative, it just doesn't work out.

I'll like it if they continue it. I liked the animation style a lot. Reminded me of K-On. Didn't check to see if it's the same people. If this is all they make from it then I'll be disappointed because I want to how she became BRS, how her friend disappeared in the first place, what that other girl is going to do about this and how she fights, why that other world exists in the first place, and why can only they get there so far?

Point is I have a lot of unanswered questions as I'm sure a lot of people do. So as long as they continue making OVAs and give explanations I think this will be a fine show. If this is all we get then I have to say it's really disappointing.

BRS was awesome, to tell the truth, the switch between the worlds was annoying. Sure they can do the world switching every now and then but doing it in every few minutes was annoying. But still awesome nonetheless.

I'd like to ask though, do they plan on more OVAs or episodes (doubt this)?

@ZeroOBK, I thought I was the only one who like the awesome animation, my friend said that it sucked to the bottom of the well (he kinda meant that) and he didn't like it at all.

Edit: And I heard that BRS is going to become a game, damn why do I browse ANN so much, if not for that i wouldn't have felt sad from this news, I actually don't want this, its better off as an anime, don't you guys think so too

Re-edit: @Asphodel, don't we already know she became BRS and how Yomi dissapeared, what we don't know is about the element that helped Yomi to dissapear and go to that world was it Dead Master feeded from her negative emotions and gained power to take Yomi? And about how Mato fused with BRS, what remains unanswered is how BRS found or somehow was pulled towards Mato in the first place, was it because of Mato's wish to find Yomi and bring her back home that somehow drew BRS towards her? I can't tell for sure.
