Aghhh, stop comparing it to Blood+... >_>
It's like comparing all the different Final Fantasy games and saying, "Hey they aren't the same!"
Or the first Negima! by Xebec to Negima?! by Shaft.
Or the original Last Exile from 2003 to the upcoming Last Exile: Fam the SIlver Wing being released this fall.
Just because they have the same (or similar) name and a similar themes doesn't mean they are going to be prequels or sequels to other related works.
Anyway, here's my take on the first episode.
Oh, and I think there was some references to Manzai comedy or something with the "funny and straight man" or whatever? (Learned about it from Hayate no Gotoku)

At least This Saya knows her duty, accepts her duty, and actually fulfilled her duty without flinching.Look at her eyes again at 20.42, does that look like someone who doesn't realize what she's doing? She only then lowers her guard and loosens her anxiety when her father shows up.

So the anime does not fail to deliver at all. After seeing the first episode I do not feel like dropping after the first episode. With Blood+ I forced myself to watch the anime after episode 1 (or was it 2?). No, I was never hooked onto the anime, I just forced myself to watch it to see if anything interesting happened and by the end it became really disappointing when I looked back at what I watched.
Having Clamp work on the anime is an interesting choice indeed but not all to much of a problem. The characters in this series seem more likeable and less depressing than the characters in Blood+ although I am comparing an anime that is slowly walking into the shadows to an anime the just jumped into a sea of black.
This regards Saya
Overall, I am gonna stay a while and watch this and see where this goes. It doesn't seem to be trying to take the Sci-Fi route that Blood+ was attempting to take and seems to be moving towards a very lite magic approach. Although that is speculation at that point.

I'll watch this series for the sake of the Blood name, but still undecided on what I think about Clamp's style and whatnot fitting into the Blood series. I'm sure by the end of this (or as I keep watching) I'll see how well Clamp does, so for now I'll just sit back and enjoy the show.

unless they stop making me slog through all this lighthearted crap to get to the fight scenes im going to drop it. im not watching this show for adorable lighthearted characters. I get my fill of that watching IdolM@aster. I watch this show wanting and expecting a somewhat dark action filled vampire show. so far that's not what im getting.

Why did you expect another "Blood+", it's not a remake. Just go rewatch Blood+ again.

i dont expect another Blood+. But i do expect my expectations to be fulfilled. one of my expectations was for it not to be an overly lighthearted show.
Can you say that you are happy with the pace of the show? Also, what did you expect out of the show?

Watched both episodes sometime ago. I didn't like it too much, but I'm interested to know what will happen as the series continues.
Liked the cuteness of Saya getting caught by that cafe owner and her, lol. For some reason, I liked those songs that Saya sang. Although, seems to me that this Saya is much dedicated, dutiful, and determined to do her "work". Fighting without any hesitation, I liked that. Although I expected her to slice her opponents into pieces really easily, but maybe I was expecting too much strength from her, lol.

Yeah, I think I'll stay a while and watch this now. While episode 2 only brought the action up a little, it continued to at entertain me with it's characters.

Ah, right right. So my money is on a more so magical setting over the sci fi, Charles Darwin plot of Blood+.
Either way, still watching.

I am also still undecided on this, but I think a lot of the disappointment expressed about this series is due primarily to the lack of any continuity with the existing franchise materials. There seems little beside the name Saya and 'monsters' to tie this to the existing materials. So far there is no indication of family ties (for instance), no dependence on Saya's blood as an agent to kill chiropteran, in fact - no chiropteran.
I was not expecting a sequel (per se), but was expecting more to tie it to the originals. CLAMP's style probably turns some viewers off as well(personally, I like it), particularly since it is such a radical departure from both prior works.
The one point I definitely agree on is that the overly sweet Saya can be difficult to take at times, the endless songs about laundry, breakfast, etc. don't help at all.

You're better off rewatching Blood+ if you expect it to be "exactly" the same.

Yea it is defiantly not Blood + and it has many different elements that Blood+ did not have. From the two episodes out the show as shown that just because you enjoyed The other Blood's does not mean that you are going to enjoy it.

As to whether or not it can stand on it's own ... I think the jury is still out on that question.

Here's a challenge:
Try to discuss this without adding "Blood+" to the whole discussion.
I know you can, this is for the sake of eliminating that overshadowing fact that this is related to this series.
