Gakuen Mokushiroku: High-school of the Dead //Zombies!

This series is improving for me by the episode. I loved the SotD cameo, the plot is taking a sensible direction, the action has picked up, and the ecchi isn't currently contextually ridiculous. The only thing that annoys me slightly is how, through character design, it's instantly obvious who - like the teacher - will be a central character, and who will be expendable. Kind of ruins the usual drama you get in survival horror.

I watched this series half-seriously, since I was expecting numerous "...-holes" and the like.

And it's working out for me.

It's been pretty awesome, zombie-bashing action with some fan service, and the whole doomsday scenario "the-world-gone-mad". Pretty refreshing, in a way.

I absolutely loved the part where they put on the track from 28 Weeks After when the guy was turning into the zombie...it was brilliant. Had to stop myself from drooling.

And Shaun of the Dead cameo. Fuck yeah.

Comically evil teachers are bad. Seriously, does the guy think he's a Zero or something? And why did he have to stop to give the good 'ol fancy evil guys speech with zombies running around? Moreover, why didn't zombies swamped him, if they're attracted to sound? But I digress.

The pink haired loli-esque is pushing it now, but I guess every show needs a smart ass like that.

But there's Rei and Saeko goodness, so I won't complain. Too much.

Been fun, will keep an eye out. Will also look out for it's manga, If I got the time.

Obviously a matter of popularity. Whatever is more popular or mainstream always looks to most as the first of its kind, even if in reality, it isn't. So when someone sees something familiar to it, they'd judge it as a rip-off.

Just saying: one's a game and one's a manga/anime. And the game obviously has superpowered undead species.

EDIT: The ending theme's lyrics are...i cant find words to describe it. Its just me, but they are nostalgic.

The anime just isn't doing it for me as well as the manga did. I think it's because I know what is going to happen and now I'm just waiting on it to happen. I had been waiting for this series to air since I heard it was going to have an anime adaptation but I'm really disappointed with how I feel towards the anime. Even though that may be the case I'm going to finish watching this series till the end.

tl;dr

The anime doesn't excite me/draw me in/make me curious about whats gonna happen next. I waited a while for the show. Now I'm disappointed. Damn memory.

Does anyone else feel this way? If you do/don't give me a suggestion to help me get over this slump.

i LOL'd when i saw the gas station's name.

kinda annoying to see the "light" covering the "GRAB DA BOOBIES!" scene.
and because of the annoying "light",i can predict lots of em in the bathroom scene,naked apron,etc.

kinda disappointing, since almost half the story was a recap of the previous 3 episodes...

That really pissed me off too, I was like "When is the fucking episode gonna start!?"



I was mad as hell when that scene came up. WTF happened to the boobies!? Damn Japanese
censoring laws are getting more and more strict as time goes on.


For someone such as myself who has not read the manga the anime is awesome, I
can understand why it isn't doing it for you because the creators are basically copying
the manga chapter for chapter into full motion animation so if someone has read the
manga they will know how everything goes down. Sorry the series is kinda ruined for you
but your dedication to just rough it out and watch the entire series is inspiring
(I mean this) If I was in your situation I'd probably just quit watching (But that's just me.)

As with everyone else, I was a bit disappointed with the several minutes of recap that were shown in the beginning, but at least the whole episode wasn't like that. I imagine that they did that in order to keep the pacing, or in case viewers were overwhelmed by the fast-paced last couple of episodes so they wanted to show them what they might have missed.

Anyways, the rest of the episode was pretty good, and showed how humanity can change during a crisis. I'm definitely looking forward to next week's episode, where it looks like things shift back to the bus crew.

The episode might've been a filler of sorts for the first third, but in exchange, it showed us a better view of a world that's infested by zombies in just 1 day. I have to admit Madhouse Studios did a good job in bringing out the feel and surrealness of the zombie apocalypse. This episode kinda acted as a breather that let the reality sunk in for the characters and the audience. Little things such as deserted buildings, depraved people, and necessary scavenging add that grit needed in any zombie media.

I loled when Shido-sensei literally slithered into the girls and gave them a hug - just like the greaseball he is. Then when he went, "Daijo~ubu," I effing laughed my ass off.

The ED was also good. It had very fitting lyrics for this episode: I firmly place them on my heavy, black trigger. Kurosaki Maon strikes gold again with her new ED, 0, Spirit.

And something else to enjoy while we wait for the new episode. That one quote, "Protecting a man's pride, is a woman's job," compelled me to create a motivator that captured Saeko in all her glory and epic win. Using BS player to capture the image from episode 2, cropped the image a bit, and resized it. The end result:



She can protect my pride anytime, and protecting a man's pride just got a whole lot sexier.
