This anime is pretty interesting, but I just have to ask... why is Kyousuke such a pushover when it comes to his sister, and why is she such a stuckup spoiled brat? Also, why is the father such a closed minded dude?
0
Because if they were all perfect and got along happily there would be no conflict, and then the show wouldn't really have a plot.

I'm not saying they should be perfect, quite far from it. Just that I don't like those bits of their characters.

You gotta let some shit slide dude, Cmon shes the little sister after all... She can do WHATEVER she wants!! :P
Ive been reading the Manga i'll have to take a look at the Anime. (Sounds damn good)

All the more reason to not let it slide because she's the little sister :D. At any rate, Kyou lets too many things slide. I mean, he took a punch to his face from his dad for her and she's still giving him shit. She deserves some rape ^_^
Also, the cutest girl in the whole series so far is definately Kyo's classmate, Manami.

Because Kyosuke is a douche, Shes just a bitch, and the dads a close minded Prick >:)
j/k
its pretty much like ZZelos said.

read the manga there's more build up so his actions make more sense. Also they toned Manami down so much in the anime she's super cute in the manga.

"Why is Kyousuke such a pushover when it comes to his sister?"
He actually cares, and he wanted to be treated normally as a brother.
"Why is she such a stuckup spoiled brat?"
Because she mentally "grew up" too fast.
"Why is the father such a closed minded dude?"
Because his ideals makes him stick with the traditional way of thought.

Because despite the fact that she can be a tsundere, he understands what his sister really means and loves her? And he also sees how important this is to here and realizes it's the first real chance for her to be really open to herself.
If the father was as close-minded as you thought, he wouldn't have allowed her to keep her hobby at all. He was just worried about his daughter and all but was willing to accept things because he realized that she would have some help from her brother. And you have to think more about when he punched his son over the eroge. In all likelihood, he knew his son was just covering them for his sister you know.
And his sister has had to endure trying to hide something she really enjoys, even loves from fear of discovery. So she's had to spend all that time covering up her actions and acting differently than she really feels. And you should also take note that she DOES start to open up more and evolve as she gains her friends and start opening up more about her hobby. And this will only continue.
All in all, they are well done characters that are understandable and realistic. Sure the conflict is a little overdone but it is a good deal comedy based.

I really liked this episode, by itself without thinking of the manga version I love this anime so much ^///^
Now for some reason when I compare the scenes from this episode to there manga counter-part I prefer the manga 70% of the time.
Some scenes where I preferred manga over anime

Psychology student here. Let's try using Alfred Adler's theory of Birth Order to better answer this question, about Kyousuke and Kirino:

I want to play Siscalypse!
Edit: I forgot to say how much I liked this ep. Ayase and Saori have both piqued my interest. I haven't read the manga or the light novels but I have a creeping suspicion that Saori might be really hot if she took off her glasses.

I want to play Siscalypse! This and loved the episode. Just couldn't help but laugh on the octopus tentacles loli witch. THAT scene when they fell onto each other was hot and really funny haha. Kirino's friends just had to come down right at that moment! Also, the ending rocks.
