Anyone know if the first episode was subbed yet? I'm pretty sure it's out there already, since I heard from a few friends of mine that it was widely viewed yesterday.Yes. Here's a torrent.
It felt kinda weird watching it since "Producer-san" wasn't voiced. Overall, I enjoyed watching it and the end of the episode was a plus.

i lost interest in the previous show, due to continuous redundancy and pacing, should i force myself to re watch it in order to grasp this show?

No mechs this time around- as it'll actually be following the games.
As Kaimax said- it'll be more of a slice-of-life type of run.

But in the end his voiced and face was revealed anywayThank goodness for that.
Originally, I wasn't planning on watching this, but the girls are cute and charming and that's good enough for me, even if one of them is voiced by Kugimiya and even if

I felt really awkward watching this first episode. Incredibly awkward. However, it's pretty, so I'll be watching it.

Okay. So an intro to all the characters. Feels like this might be some sort of slice-of-life thing. I hope it will make sense for people who haven't played the games before.
All I know is that the animation for this episode seemed to be equal to or greater than KyoAni-quality. There must be quite a budget behind this show.

I also felt like they could have appealed a litte more to the viewers that haven't played or heard of the game before. But then again, the first episode just introduced all the characters and gave a brief background of who they are.
There were some terms in the first episode that newcomers won't understand (e.g - Yukiho's shovel reference and the stand where they were selling Tayio No Jealousy [one of Haruka's in-game theme song]). As a big fan of the iM@S franchise, I understood these references, but to a newcomer, it seems nonsensical.
Anyways, I feel that it'll expand a bit more once they get more episodes out.

I have not played the game before, so I am looking forward to learning about the series and the characters in it. First episode was pretty average, but the next one should be more of interest, since this one was just introducing the idols.

fun video about the ED sequence tied with the original dance.
Honestly, once again. anyone who's expecting story or plot please drop this now, because then you'll just be disappointed and then try to share your disappointment with the forum with the usual "no plot=shallow" comments and the usual over-analyzing comments, which will really ruin the fun of the ones who's actually enjoying this.
Things to look forward in this series:
1. Character developments
2. Songs and dances that you just might like
3. Your favorite character, dancing and singing to your favorite Idolmasters songs
Things that's not supposed to be in this series
1. Heavy plot
2. non-cliched story elements (go watch Xenoglossia if you want a mecha twist)
This story is about The development of the idol candidates into top idols, It's a 100% adaptation from the game, which also doesn't have any "real" story. So, you'll just see more about Character development rather than story development. If we get any plot, that's a bonus.
but honestly that doesn't mean it's going to be shallow, there's a reason why Idolmaster is the most popular franchise in Japan, because it's just fun and people enjoy their interaction with the characters and the songs in the game. All the games in this series have minimal plot and story, just like the Monster Hunter Series.

Just because it might ruin your fun you have the right to tell others to not voice their opinions? I honestly thought you're better than this, Kaimax. I seriously did.

Nope, I'm not saying that you can't, I'm just saying if you're going to watch this anime and then in the end just to post opinions that this animes bores you/shallow/etc etc I advise you to stop watching it now.
It's more like warning about "this anime does not contain plot, so please don't put expectations on it".
That post was a copy paste (softened) of my post in MAL (seriously, I should stop going into the forums of MAL), that some people are "disappointed" because it has no plot..? So I just "warned"/advised them to leave(drop) now rather than waste your time watching an anime that in the end you'll just bad-mouth because it doesn't suit your taste.
Idolmaster will remain the same as it's original media, Character development, close interaction and the "entertainment". It will always have minimal plot, much like the Monster hunter series, which technically almost doesn't have any.
Even the Drama in the game with Project Fairy and Project Jupiter under the management of 961 Pro. is very minimal.
Once again, I'm just warning/advising guys that expects heavy plot to drop this now. No it's not going to be have another "madoka twist", the most possible thing to happen is the usual "drama" about the hardships of being a singer/idol.
and I'm being carefully specific on that, only warning/advising people that expected a plot, which this show almost doesn't have.
the only plot for this show is Help these Idol candidates, to be Top idols. but in the process it will focus more on the life of a rising idol. It won't have plot twists, nobody is going to die, there won't be any betrayals because this anime will stick 100% to original media. Internal conflict between the idols is a different story.

BUMP edit:
Episode 2 is out (no subs yet)
Points
-Sudden appearance of Touma from JUPITER
This could be foreshadowing that this will include the Rivalry between 765 Pro. with 961 Pro. possible plot here.
-This episodes main heroine are Iori, Ami, Mami and Yayoi
-This episode confirms that every episode will have different songs depending on the current theme, insert songs is definitely confirmed.
-GOSH MIKI YOU'RE SO PRETTY

I'd really enjoy this more if they show at least some cameos from "The iDOLM@STER : Dearly Stars", especially Ryo.
