Send a message to the people who have spent the most money on the website for first dibs.

That's a good idea and something I could see us doing in the future. Give everyone who has purchased all of the FAKKU releases, the first chance to pick up the limited item.

This time we decided to schedule two specific dates and times for the release, to give everyone the same chance. It's unfortunate that some people missed out, and it's possible we will print more in the future as a result. I wasn't expecting it to completely sell out immediately on both days.

As one of those who weren't able to purchase the box, I'm happy that there is a possibility that one day I'll be a member of the fellowship of the box!

don't know if that would work out very well
for example, what criteria would you use
having all books or spending more money on the site?
because someone that have all the paperbacks, spent more that the one who only have the digitals

following that line, is possible for someone that don't have all the books to have spent more on the site than the one who have it

i for example, don't have all the books, but, because i live overseas and have to pay the double for every book that i brought because of the shipping, spent more money than the one who live in america and have all de books.

i think the best thing to do is just let the people know of the release day, at least 2 weeks prior
this way everyone would have the same chance to get it.

Does FAKKU even have a newsletter? I know I'll sign up for one and anybody who chooses to opt-in are likely repeat buyers. It will also help avoid messy (though successful) limited release like saitom box because not everyone like myself visit the forum all that often and you will keep more people informed about anything: site changes, merchandise, new books, etc...

It's not a huge thing to add to the site but the benefits are significant. You guys are publishers now and get to deal directly with the artists. Just my 2-cents.

I'm asking for a news tab on front page for a longer time now, so far to know anything you need to follow twitter and read forum regularly and even then it's mostly scraps like we still don't know anything said on anime expo, just books announcements, that's annoying, Fakku has deals with new publishers but we need to google every book ourself to know that, any releases/delays need to be scavenged on forum or asked.

Fakku needs dedicated newsman asap because so far it's just clusterfuck.

Does the physical version of this finally come with an actual box? I was able to buy the pack of doujins at AX, where I was told I would be contacted about later shipment for the actual box (which was not on hand). I have yet to receive any communication regarding the box itself.

Additionally, is there any way to get access to digital copies of these works since I own them physically?

Email store@fakku.net.

They sent out a mass email however I was like you I did not receive it. I contacted them I mentioned that I was at AX2016 and I didn't receive the actual box. Then they shipped it to my address.

As for the digital copy in the same email include a photo of you Saitom Box and your AX2016 badge to request the digital copy.

Not sure about the idea of giving first dibs to people who bought more stuff. Although I think I would qualify to that category, that seems much unfair to me.
I think what Fakku did this time was pretty fair, releasing in three batches. I don't know if it will be better or not, but maybe they can release in different time slots like once in the morning, once at night. and also maybe announce the time more store-wide like on the main page?

Wut? Who ever got there first and payed got them. No where did people who didn't buy stuff earlier or less were stopped from getting one outside the quantity issue.

Yeah, I think the issue was more a matter of hour than days.
Afteral, putting the release at the same hour of two days will always leave those who work at this hour unable to order.
HOWEVER, there is also people who work at night so you can be sure someone WILL be working at any hour.

Sooooo...
Help from someone else? Someone you know will be able to order it and would not blush redder than a cherry at the idea of being paid to buy you porn could give you a hand. This is risky practice, and it will end up costing you more that buying it yourself. I don't advise it, but if you trust each other, sure, why not.

Why not make different batches for different times of the day then? Some in the morning, noon, and evening. Nobody has a 24h work day unless you're so committed to that sort of life you'd have no time for porn anyway.

That's probably what we'll do next time we have a limited item. In fact when we launch the NaPaTa dakimakura (which is happening soon), we can have a few scheduled release times spread out over a day.

I also believe the newsletter idea that ntfakku suggested would do wonders for people who want to buy certain limited edition items to be notified ahead of time and prepare.

I'd just like to know if there's a way to update my account status as owning every physical fakku release if this first dibs thing becomes a thing. Of course I know i wouldn't get access to the digital versions regardless.

Cause I have purchased every book but from Amazon and rightstuff apart from Fakku. I could easily username/time stamp a photo with my collection all in one picture and I'm sure if i go through my emails i could find the needed evidence from the transactions as well..

I would hate to miss out on this first dibs type of deal just because i don't always purchase directly from Fakku.

I can't say I find the idea of first dibs to be all that agreeable. If a business stated they're doing a limited edition preorder whereby those who've paid will only be printed and shipped, then sure, I can see that happening because you prepaid to have your copy secured.

But what if there is already an existing limited stock? What then? I can't stand behind the idea of being partial to those who are already consumers over those who want to become one. Anyone who gets passed over would understandably get turned off from ever trying to spend their money at that business again.

The best solution I know of (so far) is to give everyone the equal opportunity to get a shot at buying a copy at different times of the day. Most people will free be at some point of the release date; and yes giving people ample notice ahead of time will help, too.

All in all, it's about maximizing everyone's chance of getting a copy.

Those are just my thoughts. I'm just grateful that a lot of effort had gone into even into bringing us these works in the first place. Can't wait for mines to arrive already! XD

Just to add my two cents: I'd much prefer a simple pre-order program. Like we want to produce this limited yet pricey product, and if we can get 200 people to pre-order it, then it'll get made, otherwise it won't happen.

Maybe print some extra copies for late comers or to give away as prizes, but otherwise keep it limited to those willing to pay up-front for it. No playing favorites, just give everyone a fair chance to vote w/ their wallets.

The saitom box showed us that there is demand for exceptionally high quality prints (box sets, hardcovers, etc). So as long as you all continue to support it, we will work on releasing more products at this level.

There are more artists I can count with one hand that I'd want to see get prints like these. Can't wait for the next one.

From a consumer standpoint it is genuinly exciting to hear that hear quality prints may become more routine, then the standard once a year showcase.

From a fan standpoint it is genuinly exciting that you are giving us the option to purchase high quality works from some of our favorite authors.

Brining over titles from Japan has always been great in my opinion, however the execution of how the goods are presented vs how they were presented in their original format leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

It's nice to see that the times are slowly changing.
