[Locked] FAKKU State of the Union 2016

The removal of unlicensed works are disappointing. But i'm all for helping out the industry.

My main question now would be if the removed works would be re-released on Fakku officially? And when would we expect to see them back?

For now i am satisfied with the subscriber service. And hope more interesting content can come along in the future.

Thanks for the hard work Jacob.

try to shoot for $60 per year like Funi and CR. Don't make it cost more than a video game!

my wallet wants to agree with this... but my brain and reality isnt so supportive.

i mean... $156 per year (13 x 12) and you want a price cut of more than 60%.
this wont work out in my experience and belief.

again, my wallet agrees, but my brain and even my lower head doesnt want to. the path of legal pr0n has always and always been expensive. fakku's one of the cheapest in hand already. lets not push it when it's not actually gonna be supportive.

I respectfully disagree. $60/year will bring in more subscribers, which means, more money. $156/year is just not a realistic number that people would want to be paying, especially for porn, it just isn't. $80/year is the highest acceptable rate I'd say, anything above that and your going to be really limiting your consumers.

You gotta make it economically feasible for normal people, $150/year is too much for the average person in my opinion. This is why I urge Fakku to try to mimic some other companies (CR and Funi) and see what they're doing and see how they're succeeding. They have to lower the cost if they want to attract more subscribers or at least have a cheaper subscription tier.

If you want to get more subscribers fast, then this is the way to do it.

I'll admit I was a bit iffy on the fact that you got rid of most of the content on this site but after hearing about all the legal action then I understood, but my question is that will you eventually put back up all the stuff you guys got rid of but in a way you won't get in trouble with or its basically done with it

How about for the lets say less fortunate like students can you at least have a weekly subscription and can I use a debit card? Its all I have. I know I registered this new account but I have been using your site for about 7 years now. I love your site so please do understand.

Based on the current situation with the existing licenses, I guess simulpublishing new content will be the priority for the subscription service, but at least some older content could have a chance to return through FAKKU Books.

I would love to give you guys money, but the content you've currently got just isn't for me. The only tag I see published now days I'm interested with any frequency is tsundere, but that's also often tagged with NTR...

I just can't justify a subscription for stuff I don't like or hate. The lack of non-credit card options is also an issue. I don't do credit cards anymore since my card was stolen and saddled me with massive CC debt.

As we continue to grow, the variety of content we publish will grow with us. You may have noticed the poll on the front page asking which genres people would like to see us publish, we take that feedback seriously.

I love how you avoided all conflicts on his/ her post. :^)

KyoukoSuehara The Retaliator
It has been years since i first joined fakku until I lost my username and pass and decided to just leave the community for good (as the community back then felt quite hostile anyway). However, coming back now I can say that things really changed. I've never really come to Fakku for the doujinshis (as there are other websites that concentrate on that better) but for the community. I remember back then I joined for a Saimoe like event where I believe Kalen won? And then there was the waifu game so I never really bothered about the released scanlations. However, I will say this, I've bought official doujins before, both physical copy and digital copy and I kid you not it feels great to own a hard copy of a really amazing doujin. I've always wanted to support Fakku back then and even bought a hentie shirt as a gift for my friend years back so it should be obvious that what I mean is, I'm not against this change. However, I do believe that eliminating the free stuff completely is not good. I believe that the really old doujins that have aged properly should be allowed to stay because I'm sure the artist already profited from them and those who haven't bought them yet would prolly have no intention buying them anyway considering how long they have been rotting in the shelves. Furthermore, I believe that it's important to have paypal as an alternative as in my experience it's the quickest and safest way to pay for subsciptions. Because of this, having that alternative has always been a deal breaker for me whether I will or will not subscribe to any form of service whether it be gaming or etc.

Edit: Also, I will comment on how people will really be irritated about this change seeing that some youtubers are even commenting on how much a 'sellout' move this is. I am not against it but I can see how this would cause a lot of problems both for the short and long term run.

Here's the youtuber i saw that made me return to fakku to see what was happening

Whatever happens, it's nice to see this site is still alive so happy new year and god speed.

the main issues I see people having are

1. people are unable to pay, or unwilling to pay a high price for limited content
2. you lose everything if you do not pay
3. it shows up on credit card billing
4. the price is high, especially with currency exchange
5. apart from subs, you still need to pay for books, books which you will not own
6. some people are suspicious of Jacob's intent and money-making methods, as he operates in a morally gray area
7. while Fakku! will get rid of "unneccessary" traffic, it is still a huge blow to the site in general

for me, paying monthly for a site I do not visit everyday, and which has limited content for such a price is not appealing. maybe some of the more hardcore Fakkuers are fine with it, but I am not. that, and the fact I am unable to get a CC in my country makes the site a graveyard to me. I will be monitioring the situation, but as of today, I cannot commit due to financial and moral reasons. I'm sorry Jacob, but please try to understand where I, or we, are coming from.

lol, didnt get through oh well, we'll try again.
for credit cards. thousands of other options are available. Europe? there are things there such as Secured Cards (capital one has it i think) or commonly called Secured Credit Cards. look into them.
other options for adult content are missing, really not just fakku. i think it's also for the security of the company.

for content, you just have to wait (maybe by then you have already saved up enough for a sub as well). rome wasnt built in a day. i dont think it's low to give up for now and prep up. its wise to know when to give up.

the price is only a product of the content and the service. im pretty sure i told you before the worth of the stuff. that's in relation to what you would get if you get the original in japan. i cant be sympathetic with you if im gonna be fair to the other party. im pretty sure you want that as well in your line of work and how you would be treated by customers.

trust me, I understand where you're coming from, I really do, but I am essentially unable to get one - in my country, it requires that I have a certain amount of monthly income on my bank account for me to afford a CC - and I have no guarantee that it will be even recognized by Fakku if I get one. I work only part-time, and the price is something I cannot just jump over. I have never been in favor of stealing from artits, especially from those whose work I really like. However, I do not have any means of monetary support I can give them. that, and the fact I do not limit my fap-vision to just Fakku makes this decision hard for me. for me, it's charging a huge price for limited content, while also forcing people to pay to stay AND to buy books. this is especially dangerous when taking into account that there are other sites which provide the same for free - it is a very difficult fight Fakku will have with illegal content, or even stealing from the site. essentially, all it takes is one account downloading all the content by buying a montly sub and then sharing it for free online - it will spread like wildfire.

I do not say those things out of spite - I am concerned by the situation, and although I do understand Jacob and his policies, for me this is a very drastic change which will have consequences - this is something which can destroy this site as easy as it can help it ascend. while I think a method should be estabilished to gain access to hentai conent overseas, this is not the way - the way should be by appealing to the Japanese market, to prove that we are essentially a market worth investing in. Japan has never really been interested in the Western market when it comes to selling their mangas - I think it's time we prove them what a mistake they're making.

Too risky to support your decision regarding your change in website
Due your decision are mostly business only(faking to support an artist that i can sense in your lie so called fakku "state of the union" like a politician) than customer or members(readers) concerns to the website

Give us a good true reason than half assed decision regarding this move

See you and good luck in the future

Ever since this website allow fakku books and subscription most of the manga are no longer readable unless you pay the website sucks. Well there still pervdeen website who will upload the mangas but there's delay.

Welp time to use another free site. Personally, I do not see you guys succeeding to be honest. Best of luck I guess.

Long time fan of Fakku. Definitely sad to see the new direction it has taken. I subscribed for a month as thanks for the time I've spent here, but I will be moving on after it is up.

Good luck Fakku, you will be missed.

This is simply not true. Especially obvious in case of physical books, but the digital releases of books are also yours forever, and come with various DRM-free options for downloading.
