Final Fantasy 8 Interpretation

Wow quite a surprise that I was just playing it about 5 minutes ago and then see this :) It's a very well thought out interpretation but I just don't like it. The whole dream idea is interesting but the authors views don't agree with me. Saying that everything is selfishly revolving around Squall because that is what happens in a dream just takes the meaning of the game for me and crushes it. They say they don't get why there were MOOMBAS or SHUMI. It's Final Fantasy! Talking Lions are bad but Chocobos are completely normal right? The game was meant to be a puzzle where everything fits in to place (I believe at least) that is what makes Final Fantasy what it is.
You could say Cloud from FF7 was dead before the game began if that was the case and it was all a dream flashing before his eyes because of the Genova cells planted in him. And to say the romance between Squall and Rinoa was not real simply takes from the game itself.
What started of as something different and interesting, ended up being too logical for me and took the genre of fantasy away from the game.
(Damn I have never made a post this long on anything before, I am too keen on this franchise hahaha FF13 in March baby!)

Whoa, this is pretty good. I only read some of it, but once I have time, I will read the rest. I never thought of it this way either.
Oh, and I loved FF8. The junction system made for easy game play if you took the time to level up, but the story was great. It was one of my first shonen romance stories that I experienced now that I think about it.

Let me put my opinion of it this way ... it took FF12 to make me feel anything more than apathy for FF8, but I still wish that Laguna was the main character.

For me this was the first of the series that i have played and the best...(for me atleast) And with this theory it just makes me want to play it all over again and love it more...XD

ff8 was a complete orgy of confusion. i played a year ago and discussed with my friends who play when it first came out, not gonna lie we got no where on the topic of the stories plot(me arguing how stupid it was). the time traveling made no sense to me when they had no control over what was happening other than to just watch. also my friend who's not a big fan of ff was watching and was giving random comments of the whole plot and squall/rinoa relation on how they're relation was going to fast with an emo guy.
lets hope they just expand the ff8 story like they did for ff7(ff7 as a whole now is less filling then what it was for me)

As for the FFVIII Theory I can't really say. I only really ever played a couple of hours of it. However the theory is interesting and reasonably sound. The only odd thing I found in the whole in the theory was the fact that the ice attack that killed him didn't really look life threatening. It was a shoulder wound. The fall on the other hand...

I'm playing FF VIII for the first time on my PS3 right now (I skipped the whole PS1/2 console generation and gamed on the computer exclusively during that time) and I rather like it. Triple Triad, crafting and drawing spells takes up way too much of the time spent on the game and the story isn't as good as IV, VI or Chrono Trigger but it's a decent enough romance plot. Don't get all the hate for the game. Oh, Rinoa has got a seriously nice backside =).

Never liked Squall as the main in FF8. Dead or not it's pretty much our own interpretation, unless there is a Tidus thing done like in FFX and FFX-2 to revive him.

in my opionin ff8 was the best out of all of them ( i played all of except 6 and down) probally because im a sucker for romance and i cant really agree with the whole "it was all a dream" theory maybe the second disc was overly convient but "it was all a dream" also seems overly convient and even if it was all a dream it was a sweet dream

Ever since I fell asleep playing it I've held a deep hatred of Final Fantasy 8. Even moreso since it cut into the budget of Xenogears.(A much better game)

its great to see a good amount of Final Fantasy VIII Love around. Personally, I never really got into 7 much, and find the only (and rightfully so) that competes in my book is 6.
now on to the Idea about squall dying... really, only the writers know, its up to us to interpret what we want. I'll stick to Squall not dieing and happy endings. (I'm a romantic at heart.)
but it is good to see people trying to find something a little deeper than the surface.

The crazy shit is that i woke up this morning and said out of the fucking blue "I HAVE AN INSANE URGE TO PLAY FINAL FANTASY 8"
I spend all day digging through the years of gaming shit to find my dusty ps1 and all the necessary cables, up until about 3pm when i finally found all the stuff i needed.
I take my time. I even sit through the credits/intro thing that no one gives two shits about just so that i can nostalgia and appreciate this game that was my first glimpse into the final fantasy universe.
I've been playing since about 3:30pm and got off just recently when i considered that it was time to get to bed.
As a man, i decide that it would possibly be pleasant to rub one out before i sleep, and head to fakku.
I see this post.
What are the fucking odds that this is the first thing i see?
I'm not sleeping tonight. Fuck that.
