[Locked] DONATE REP TO G-MONEY
0
Apparently people can earn rep in the most pathethic attempt possible by actually creating a thread about it, never mind the fact that such attempts is an obvious abuse of the rep system.
So, what are you guys waiting for? +rep me guiz, pwease? Prty pwease?
If I earn rep from this, I'm going to laugh. And then ask for the complete desablishment of the rep system.

Thank you, Tsujoi, for grasping my point. If I get negged-repped, of course I'd care, but not that much, but my point would be proven either way.

Meh, who really cares either way? If people want to use the rep system that way then let 'em. No one has to participate in the rep threads.

It's just that rep back in the day actually used to mean something. I was overjoyed to get a single rep, and still am because I know I've really earned it. Never really got a de-rep unless it was accidently given to me. But all this crap I've seen lately, users begging for rep or attention, users with inordinate number of rep that doesn't match their post intelligence, and you start to wonder what the fuck is wrong with this picture; hence this thread.
@Tsurayu: it's why the "a list of reps" thread is over 3 pages long because people actually care about rep, including you.

Not that much. You even admitted yourself that you learn to take the reputation with a grain of salt when it comes to using it determine who is really a valued member of this community. I will admit it does irk me when some people get +repped only because they are popular IB spammers, but what can you do? Someone wants to rep someone like that then it is their prerogative. It is starting to get just as annoying listening to everyone talk about reforming the reputation system as those who abuse it and use it for stupid reasons.

what we can do?
At least we warn them.
But yeah... Noobs is Noobs, we can't turn them to be the Boobs.

You mean warn the people who do it? Why? They are allowed to use the system that way.

I did say that, take rep with a grain of salt. But seriously, people are pushing the limits to what is acceptable practice and what it isn't lately, and lollollol12's latest thread broke the camel's hump. This is just but one of the more obvious (and ridiculous) methods of procuring rep. I'm not suggesting a way to fix rep, only that this is an example of dumb rep behavior. Fixing rep to me either falls on keeping it as it is (changing it anymore would surely destroy its function) or completely getting rid of it.
Hopefully this thread demonstrates the idiocy of rep whoring and will deter said behavior. The "Math for Reps" thread also pissed me off as it seemed to me like another sugar-coated attempt for rep whoring and abuse.

Well..
It's like piss at the street.
They are allowed to do that, but it isn't right thing to do. That will makes himself in shame, yet disturbing people around him.
I'm sorry, piss and that fucking-rep-thread doesn't have any connection, so if you still don't get it, i will stop there.
EDIT: in other word, it is ethic, not law.

Yeah, but that also is a perfect example of trying to force your view on others. Just because some of us don't like how the rep is used, doesn't mean that everyone else feels that way (or more like cares one way or another.)
Best thing to do is just ignore everyone else's rep. You can worry about your own rep all you want, but don't worry about what kind of reputation someone else is getting.

Tsurayu, the more you speak, the more your words are beginning to sound hypocritical, no offense.
I am not forcing anything on anyone. I'm simply making an example of what I think is appropriate in terms of the reputation system. You're welcome to think of it any way you want, but don't be mistaken that I'm "forcing" anything on anyone. People are free to ignore my thread, and people are free to make note of it. I've been on this forum for over a year and a half, and I believe what I posted is what the original intent of the reputation system from what I've observed and what the administrative staff have mentioned before. If anyone disagrees with me, by all means post here and we can have a good debate on what rep actually is and what it really is used for.

Somehow that makes me feels awkward, for not looking anyone else's rep, since i used it with care.
Yeah, there is no exact rule for this rep, it really just like ethic. It's different for every person like you said. It's just like i want to express what ethic i believe is right.
That's why, i think i must stop. Thanks anyway.

@tkhnoman: I totally agree with you - it is an ethic, the rep system. Don't be afraid of expressing your views, especially on a hot-button topic like rep, and I'm glad you use rep with care, as it should have been and should be.

Honestly gmoney: I agree with every one of your points, even to the point that i've made similar posts in the past criticizing the reputation system and they always seem to receive either negative reactions or no response from staff. It's a pointless struggle. The only real thing you can do is plead with users to change the way they do things, and those who abuse the system most likely wont even consider what you have to say at any rate. I long for the day that I can opt out of this broken system. I do support your words, and hope everyone takes them to heart; but I also realize it most likely wont do much good either way. Take it from me, generating waves on these forums will only earn you a troll title from the masses.

Waar, your words are soothing balm to my ears. Unfortunately, you're just as right as well, and I can only hope that as an influential Elder I can convince members of FAKKU! to do what is right and help distinguish what's right from wrong from plain stupid.
But if I was ever labeled as a troll, I'd like to ask every person labeling me as such to get an eye doctor's appointment and take their heads out of their asses.
