[Locked] DONATE REP TO G-MONEY

@skydager: I think you've missed my point, but I know it wasn't done with bad intentions. I'll overlook the +rep. My point is to not gain rep at all.

nah i was just bored XD i have nothing to do with it anyway and since ill get another oone in no time + i rarely give rep to ppl XD

Hypocritical how? I've never really cared about the reputation system much. I went through a time where I abused it for my own personal vendetta, so I guess that can be construed into me caring about it, but otherwise no.
It's just a number. I do care about my own reputation to some degree, but even that isn't much; and I certainly don't care about anyone's reputation. I like to think I've learned and already know who I do and don't respect regardless what their arbitrary number, tacked on after their post count may be.

ow i get your point though some how i do then somehow i dont well i think youve earned yours soo no prob

@Tsurayu: I think you still care for your rep to some degree. I still do, and it's why I'm making this topic. Anyone who gets de-repped for no apparent reason gets mad, even me with a high rep count. But regardless, my point was to emphasize the original intent behind the rep system and hopefully persuade my fellow userbase of what should be acceptable and what isn't.
Another point to your new argument is that rep in the old days was not as abused as it is now, and golly do I long for those days, and I'm not even a true oldfag, since I'm an 08' 2nd generation user. Rep used to mean something, with it's small abuses and rep scuffles, back in the day. Now it seems that anyone can throw rep around like Michael Jordan and get away with it.

to confess i usually just rep the uploaders because I been lurking around there and downloading off them, because of the no-same-person-as-before rep limitation, I seek stuff to rep off daily when I came here, so sometimes ill just rep some stuff that made me lol in IB or random so that the next day I can rep klown again or other uploaders.
So i guess i didnt put in much thought half the time i rep

Repping uploaders is fine, because they deserve it. Repping others just to rep others or repping just because one feels like it is, in my eyes, a plain no-no and an abuse of the rep system.

I think I'm going to derep LOL for the next two weeks.also an abuse of the system, what gmoney really wants, what he is asking users to consider is that users think about their reasoning for rep and begin to use their rep for good reasons, not because you dislike anyone, not because they are your friends but because they posted something you think is worthy of rep. Being a nice person, however awesome it is does not deserve rep, nor does thanking someone, and requesting rep certainly does not deserve something. If you begin a derep campaign against someone for 2 weeks it only does a disservice to gmoney's request, the community and only further damages this already broken system.

A worthy effort g-money and I can definitely see your point but alas ... I to am afraid it won't do much in the long run.
If someone takes your words to heart it probably means he already came close to using the system wisely on his own. The majority of controversial rep however is given out by younger (both forum-wise and age-wise) or randomly-active, unknown users and by the time (if ever) they'll learn to use it, more will take their place. The other main source of such rep are closer groups of people scattered throughout the forum and outside of it who are more inclined to +reping their friends or -reping their 'enemies'. Trying to influence that (if even possible) would likely lead to more conflict on the forum which seems even worse than rep misuse.
Give it a few months and you might stop giving a rat's ass about rep altogether. Might come in handy since mote v3 will soon likely shift the rep abuse to a completely different gear (unless the staff has something in store).

For a joke, it was wildly successful, which only makes matters worse for the reputation system. Waar's last post sums up my opinion very nicely.
@Das: I know. I'm just trying to be optimistic here, like the little train who could. Think of me as Gambler, but his alter ego where I still want community cooperation but isn't afraid of dishing out the stark truth when needed. My hope is that users who view this thread come away with the notion that rep was and is supposed to mean something and to use it wisely. It's also the reason why I made this thread in IB rather than in Serious Discussion (which should go in there) or Random because of the sad, sad fact that a majority of FAKKU! user action happens in IB.

Rep for me cause the most awesome Sig. !!!! yay!....i supposeI'll de-rep you as soon as my rep counter regenerates. Obvious trolling is obvious despite my good intention. This is an example where a de-rep is acceptable, and I can tell that you didn't read through this thread or did and elected to ignore it entirely.

Maybe I'm too 'forum-young' to voice my opinion. I've just started lurking in the forums and I completely agree with what you have to say.
Since most of the +/- rep takes place in IB why not change the rep system a bit. Instead of the min 15 posts, make it so that users have to make 10 posts PER rep point. The 24 hour delay + 10 posts might restrict this mad use of the system.
This will encourage users to participate in the other forums (on the worse side it could lead to dangerous flash-mobs)

@gurumao2: Or another 15 posts to rep someone. Sounds devilishly awesome, but could be real annoying to some members. The other externality involved with that is possible spamming of the forums... if users ever decide to get out of IB, User Uploads, and Requests.

Waar's last post sums up my opinion very nicely. When I was talking about lollollol12's jokes, I wasn't only referring to his rep me thread. He's made a lot of funny ass jokes which people appreciate him for and think he doesn't deserve negative rep. His reputation throughout the thread is generally good. (His reputation caused him to get reputation, get the picture?)
As for the "Math for reps" thread, I don't see why you have a problem with it. People have held many contests throughout Fakku history involving rep as the prize. I've never seen you speak out against those before. So, what's wrong with this one?
This thread just comes across to me as, "I'm jealous because people can do shit and get reps and I'm not in on it."

@Persondude: I, on the other hand, don't believe that anything he does is worthy of rep, regardless of my previous scuffle/trolling with lollollol12. You tell me that reading posts full of CAPS is actually funny, because it isn't, and for more down-to-earth users, his jokes are not funny and can be downright offensive.
I admit I was never aware of such contests from before. I noted the fact that most users in said thread were posting such nonsensical shit and got repped for it - clearly an abuse. Sure, not all of the problems and answers were bull, but that's irrelevant as I think the concept of such a thread is an abuse of the rep system.
Oh sure, I'm jealous, no denying it. I think anybody would be too. Fuck, if I had the ability to gain over 15 rep overnight, I'd be god, which I'm not. BUT, clear and obvious abuse of the rep system is clear and obvious - there's no way around it.

I really don't see a problem with it. It might be just because he is currently at 0 and I have never seen anyone that asks for rep every attain a respectable amount of it. I did rep lol12 in his thread because he gives me good lulz. Not every person has the intelligence to make rep worthy posts or the debate skillz or the material needed to make uploads so to hold everyone to those standards is ridiculous in my opinion.
Maybe flat out asking for rep is a bit of a no-no as you said but sense rep has absolutely no other perk besides a bigger E-penis it is so low on my "to give a shit" bar that I don't care.

I wonder if we can say the same if anyone for that matter asks "Please +rep me?". I've seen users do so and got +/- repped in turn. However, has anyone see other users with negative rep ask to be +repped? Very few, and usually it doesn't succeed. And ask yourself, why were they -repped in the first place? Because of user's undecorous behavior. You get what you earn; the point is that rep used to mean something, and it's sad that it's devolving into something as generic as a post count.
