The S-500 Samoderzhets (Autocrat), currently under development by the Almaz-Antey company, is a new generation surface-to-air missile system of Russia, designed for intercepting intercontinental ballistic missiles and for defense against Airborne Early Warning and Control, Airborne Warning and Control System, and jamming aircraft.

The S-500 is expected to have an extended range of up to 600 km (over 370 miles) and simultaneously engage up to 10 targets. The system will be capable of destroying hypersonic and ballistic targets.

S-500 will reportedly be able to outperform the S-400, which already outperformed the U.S. Patriot Advanced Capability-3 system. It is planned to be completed in 2012.

And considering it's a big country...they can't cover it all.


I am of course biased, because I want to see Red Army suck it, and don't take Russian technique seriously, after hearing some...stories.

It's like a Defcon game! It's not who wins - it's the one who looses the least.

That's the main purpose of it all. They developed such air defense system to resolve their missile defense problems.

In the long run, there isn't much to bomb over there, isn't it?
