@Max: It is possible, but not to the extent where the whole mujahedin is using 74's as well. Since the CIA and China supplied them with weapons, it is politically correct to see them using these weapons more than the 74s we normally see. And another detail is that the 74s are all para versions.

Yeah, the recoil sucks, plus the M16's ability to hit smaller objects made me vote for the design. I'm a former owner of an AR-15 by the way ;]

I think the FN MAG/M240 does well enough for a door gunner MG but if it was my gunship? i would put in a CETME Ameli, i don't know why, i just feel like putting it on

Oh, the Ameli. Spanish made. My choice would be the standard M240D version. If there are exemptions, I'd like to have the GAU-17 mounted on my utility helis, since you need the high-rate of power in tackling hostiles along the area.

I mean utility helis, sorry about that wrong information. (Since if it's gunships, there will be a dedicated autocannon/MG)

I'd go for the M16 more though. The jamming problem is less severe with the more advanced variations, and the accuracy makes it better than the Kalashnikov. And honestly, recoil sucks. Big time.

The Ameli? Whoa...thats kinda capricious, dont think they'd be much help though...

My choice? Gau-8 Avenger.
Except thats not really all too practical so...M61A2 feels nice
