Not this model but they are with Gore-tex insert. I have a steel tipped boots but not the gore tex so I am glad for that one :)Now for some humor:
“Three rounds of ten-millimeter hollowpoint, all in the ten-ring. Recoil’s a bit of a pain, so make sure you use the stock, or you won’t be fapping for a while.”
And now for a topic of the day:
Military grade Google glass (or similar system)... GO!
Would be intresting and beneficial to squad leader and his troops. Satllite map of the area in an instant with a wave of your hand. Also map updates of mission objectives and such.
Possibly for CO to see through the glasses what the soldiers are doing or get direct view of the object in question and issue orders after

Military google glasses would make war more like an FPS. Depending on what the system links to and such, a satelite map like Data said would probably be one of the first things they have in mind.
I think during the implementation phase, it will seem more of a distraction but I'm sure that will pass after they get some experience with it.
An another note, I'm pretty sure they've done early prototypes of this before. A lot of future soldier systems have a HUD of some sort.

Yeah first HUD that was not in an Aircraft was the US Future Soldier project in late 90's (the project is still ongoing BTW)
I agree with Val on the point that it might prove distracting without experience. Also it might be a bit prone to jamming/loss of signal depending on how the concept of wireless network in use an the area of deployment.
Personally I think it might be interesting and beneficial, but the technological concept from my standpoint as an IT is that it will be pretty damn hard to make and probably will have some power requirements.

It'll introduce a new aspect into electronic warfare, I can imagine. The energy put into developing it would be pretty tiring especially when military R&D are mainly focused on taking the soldier out of the field rather than making him better.
I can imagine that if the soldiers become too reliant on this technology, which is something I already stress on with things like GPS, they can be left vulnerable when its not working right or if its manipulated by the OPFOR a la Jormungand.

"Sir, how do I shoot, my system has been jammed?!"
Another thing to look for, if it's eletronic, it can be messed with. Maybe not so important right now, but on it becomes common there will be efforts to jam the enemy, without messing with your allies.

Reminds me of the chipped weapons from MGS4, that line.
Electronic warfare isn't particularly new but it's gaining a lot of focus and it definitely will become an important aspect in a battlefield.

Yeah electronic warfare and electronics in warfare (I think they're separate things might explain later) is certainly getting more and more spin... Personally I am both looking forward on it and don't... My reasoning is that of Kei. While it might bring many awesome and kickass things it also might diminish soldier into something less then capable while these things are taken away.

I think you mean EA-18G Growler.

Growlers are pretty much just a specialized version of the F/A-18F for the Navy tho.
Since we're on the topic of aircraft. I have not heard anything more about the American X-47B UCAV since it's first touch off and landing last year.

I hear a lot of that mostly about why my Gov decided to spend 12 billion for 58 more of them when they're planning on cutting funding to a lot of public services. That kind of bitching.
