                        Let's talk combat.
Here's the situation; the town/city you live in is housing a company of OPFOR, about 50-60 men lightly armed with assault weaponry and SAWs. You're leading a section of 8 soldiers including yourself, similarly armed. Objective is to maneuver your section through the town to the other side.
How would you go about this? It of course differs between people since I imagine we all don't live in a medium density suburbia. Keep in mind that the OPFOR knows you're around and will be searching for you, the citizens will most likely not provide support out of fear and worst of all, you're wearing UCP.

Well, if i take my city, it is easy to bypass since there is always a house with a garden entire way. And all those gardens have bushes to hide in or take cover. You can just go from garden to garden without ever hitting the main roads much.
Time to take that trip? Night time sounds nice, but the UCP will pose problems.
If i have to take, i'd scout to find when the shift changes and time my trip according to it.
But then again, I have no clue how urban warfare works properly.

Yeah I don;t think I put much thought into the scenario, just felt like trying to start conversation.
Personally night time would be ideal for me as well if I was outnumbered and needed to get through quickly. My town leaves little for concealment because our area is very open but something like a 10km stretch through the center is possible. I'd try to stay in the parks as much as possible but then again I'm wearing UCP which is only about good for camouflaging on a patterned couch.
In worst case scenario that I'd have to engage, I'd make sure we were in a location that they couldn't use their superior numbers like small streets and alleyways. Procuring transport would also be a good idea but I wouldn't advocate just speeding through and hope for the best though that doesn't stop Hollywood from pulling off such cliche.

With quick look i almost did not notice the guy.
But i try to avoid engagement and lay a distraction if possible.

And I must apologize because all of that just a build up for that one punch line.

Well punchline aside... I live in a capitol so I am used to heavily urbanized area... I would also opt for a night time approach with placing one guy up front to scout and two guys to cover our asses the rest would cover the "usual" vectors. The problem would be moving unnoticed because her is not that many places you can hide (forget the Call of Duty Modern Warare set in Prague because they couldn't even copy the map right... As a matter of fact I work near Charles bridge where the mission begins and that gallery later in the mission is actually a main building of City library etc. etc.)
While we have parks and such we do have much more of long usually busy roads and most of our streets do not have much options of cover from a military perspective... So while it might be possible to move around I do not have high hopes we would manage to slip by unnoticed. :(

I wanted to suggest going on the outskirts of the city, but i then thought they check all the exits.

Keep up the good work and let's get this place lively again. . . tomorrow.
