Dakimakuras anyone?

I've never got a Dengeki festival/comic from eBay before, but If you buy them when they're released they are only priced in the 3-4k range, so 130 dollars plus 25 more for shipping feels like a lot to me ;(

I didn't see that shipping cost. Yeah...I would definitely pass. I thought I read several posts back that the auction was based here in the US. But now that I see that it's in Malaysia I would definitely pass and look for a cheaper auction (preferably one that isn't on eBay).

Thinking on it more, I actually agree entirely with willowywicca on this. Dengeki covers are a great way to supplement a collection for the $30-60 they cost, but if you miss the initial sale and have to pay upwards of $100 for it, I hardly say it's worth it. That's just me personally, but at that point you're quickly approaching the price realm of a full scale, double sided, better detailed, and likely more explicit (if that's your thing) cover. Unless of course you really like the character/artist, then some more personal tastes may factor in, but to me it just wouldn't make sense to pay that much otherwise.

I think this question has been answered sometime earlier within this thread, but I do not recall which page. So to reiterate the question, if was asked before, is it a lot cheaper if you bought stuff straight from B&W, than through a proxy?

Cards and Hugs abound
On the topic of BW Store, I'm confused about what they're asking for "Name and Sender account last 5 yards".
Do they mean digits on the card, or something?
Do they mean digits on the card, or something?

So to reiterate the question, if was asked before, is it a lot cheaper if you bought stuff straight from B&W, than through a proxy? Arguably, yes. Yokatta would be the cheapest proxy to use, since it's a store order. That would end up being fairly cheap, at 700 yen. B&W Store offers free shipping, so if you factor in shipping to you from Yokatta, for EMS that would be another 1500ish yen (less if you used a slower service.) So at the very least, you're looking at maybe 1500 yen added cost for no reason, however, that's if there's no added fees that I'm missing.
There would have to be a reason you chose a use a proxy over ordering directly though, so I would assume you would want to have some extra time to pay and use SMJ. Would be about $16 in commission, $10 special order fee, -5 yen rate, possibly a wire fee if they really wanted to try that (despite paying by Paypal), shipping to the United States (their facility), and then shipping to you. Would definitely add an extra $40 or so.
On the topic of BW Store, I'm confused about what they're asking for "Name and Sender account last 5 yards".

Just leave it blank.

Well the reason why I used a proxy this time was because the two covers that I wanted wasn't available on B&W for order. :[ But thanks for the info. And by fast shipping, do you just mean EMS in general? Or their processing and everything is fast? Sorry if that sounds a bit confusing.

Oh, so you had to order them from somewhere else? That changes things entirely, depending on what you paid. If you bought from YJA, it definitely added a lot of extra cost depending on what you paid compared to the retail price (of 13k yen.) If you managed to get it for a good deal less than that, it may have evened out a bit, but that doesn't happen often and you still probably paid more than you would have had you been able to order direct. Without knowing the exact circumstances I couldn't say for sure though.
I mentioned shipping a lot, so I don't know if I'm addressing the right point. But the area where I mentioned speed was in my Yokatta estimate; average shipping for a dakimakura cover is about 1500 yen with EMS, possibly a bit more. Once shipped, it takes about 3 days to arrive at your door. Had you wanted to save some money, you could have used SAL or another service, and that probably would have run you 800ish yen or so (I'm not sure on SAL prices) but it would have taken 2-4 weeks to arrive.

Oh no. Mine wasn't an auction or anything, if that is what you have been thinking about the whole time. It was a web order.

I'm confused then. Where did you order it from if it wasn't an auction and wasn't from B&W Store?

Well, you said the two covers you wanted from B&W Store weren't available for order. So even using a proxy, you shouldn't have been able to purchase them from B&W Store, if they weren't available. If you were able to order them through Yokatta (from B&W Store), there's no reason you should of had to use a proxy. But maybe I'm still misunderstanding something.

Does this seem legit? For that price, it seems alright, but I wanna ask a pro.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dengeki-Gs-Festival-Vol-12-w-Momoyo-Dakimakura-Cover-/320888588113?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ab6734751
Here's the latest Dengenki G's Festival book with bonus items:
http://www.akadot.com/dengeki-gs-festival-comic-vol-25-april-2012-p-39284.html#
They also have Vol. 20 for $55 with free shipping and a couple others if you search for them with the Adult Content box checked. All orders within the US over $40 on Akadot come with free shipping too. Hope this helps.

So to reiterate the question, if was asked before, is it a lot cheaper if you bought stuff straight from B&W, than through a proxy? If the option exists, it is almost always financially better to buy direct rather than through a proxy service. As like Shashin explained, with a proxy service, you are always going to have to pay extra.
However, sometimes some sites like AmiAmi will have exclusive items that you won't find when buying direct, but fortunately, you can buy direct from them too.

I see the confusion now. I'm just speaking generally, through a website directly would be more cheaper than through a proxy, right? I guess I didn't really sort of my later posts.
I wouldn't say I'm known for not sorting out my thoughts but that shit is one of my weak points. My bad!

Ah yeah, all good then. Yeah, if you can order through a website directly, there is practically no reason to use a proxy. More and more sites are willing to deal with international customers, but the majority still will only ship inside Japan, so you need the proxy.

Though I'm new to dakimakura collecting, but in general, I do not like bootlegs. But as I'm nearing the end of Sekirei: Pure Engagement, I really want a cover, but it seems as though the only way I can obtain such an item is through bootleg. I think... Fuck those girls are so HOT!

Something about Tsukiumi just...BLARGHFADJN!
Thanks for the help though! Didn't even know the link you gave me was on sale considering the fact that the anime was release awhile ago.
