god bless to all people in japan, you will all be in my prayers, especially my best friends in japan. He said that they have to stay indoors because of the Radiation and the schools are in lock-down. Yesterday he told me that there was "acid rain" and had to stay in-school because of that.

Yeah, that's the inherit problem with news coverage when it comes from overseas. It is hard to get an accurate gauge on a situation when the information in being cycled through multiple media sources. That's why I've been watching/listening to NHK, because they usually have the most up to date info/better grasp on the situation.
And, if anyone else wants to watch/listen to live coverage translated in English by nhk, check this link out:
http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/
I've also been able to get regular NHK on my tv for free the last couple of days.
Hey Twilight, whenever I go to that link, I see this "NOW ON AIR" thingy, but it says, "Click here to download plugin", so yeah, I CAN'T CHECK THINGS OUT!!

I still pray that everything will be fixed in there soon. Although it seems that as the situation is getting worse in seconds, I doubt it'll fixed soon...

[font=Verdana][color=green]In all honesty, the best news for Westerners to watch is the BBC News Live Feed on the situation. They don't hype anything up, and keep upto date constantly.

what I can't figure out is why that nuclear reactor is still active... 3 or 4 generators already exploded and the core is on the verge of meltdown.
I would prefer a longer blackout then gettin another Chernobyl

Well the problem is no one seems to want to release the person's name so who knows if the story is true or not, but essentially the story is similar to Ishihara's. The man is accused of saying something alone the lines of "Well, at least there goes the Japanese whaling fleet."They did release his name, Paul Watson.

He's not with Greenpeace, in fact - Greenpeace hates him. He was an old leader there and he was voted out for being too extreme with his tactics. Greenpeace hold signs with rainbows saying don't hurt animals (for the most part) Paul Watson and his new crew of "Sea Shepherd's" go out and terrorize whaling vessels via stink bombs, stalking, water canons, etc.

Paul Watson is a total jackass. He should just disappear from this world!!!
I just heard of another explosion in reaktor 4. Hope they setle things soon!

Oh no, no generators have exploded. At least two of the explosions occurred when they vented hydrogen gas in order to ease pressure, and hydrogen gas is flammable and explosive when exposed to oxygen. There may be partial meltdowns in all three cores, but no breach of the containments.
In reactor house no.4 however there is a large hole in the roof and spent fuel rods have been burning, releasing radioactive smoke into the atmosphere. It's burning in there right now, though it's unclear if the fuel rods themselves are on fire again. It's also not clear how the cooling process is going in any of the plant's reactors.

Ah, wow. I didn't know that. Thanks for the correction.
And looks like another fire broke out in Fukushima:

Dunno if this has been posted yet, but those of you who have AT&T, Verizon or Sprint can make free texts and/or calls to Japan to check on family and friends.

Woop-dee-fecking-doo.
People only care because that's where all the anime/manga/videogames are from.
I was admittedly concerned for Neko-chan, but she seems to be doing just dandy, so that pretty much alleviates all my worries.
Asides from that- it's just another of a long line of everyday tragedies; Death, starvation, disease, war, poverty...
Happening all over the world, right now.
But who gives a crap, eh?
As long as my favourite seiyuus are fine.

So seiyuus are worth saving more than the whole nation?
No matter how or why people want to help Japan right now, it shouldn't matter.
These recent catastrophes will (and already are) make a big dent not only on Japan, but the rest of the world in terms of economic powers, nuclear planning, and politics for some time to follow.

Granted we all feel differently as to the situation depending on where it happens on how important that place and its people are to us, but that doesn't excuse the events.
Besides, this is hardly a normal event. You're talking the biggest earthquake in Japanese history, history that dates back to seismologist logs taking place in 1900. We're also talking about tsunamis that crested over thirty feet high. It doesn't matter what structure you are in. You get caught in a wave like that you will die. The shear pressure of a wave hitting a person like that would cause instant death.
Then there are the nuclear meltdowns. Granted we are getting conflicted reports, but this much is known: there is radiation. What we don't know is what kind. If it is in the steam release modules then the radiation is nothing more than a handful of noble gases (Krypton, Xenon, Radon) which will quickly disperse in the atmosphere and pose little-to-no threat to people or the environment. However, if it is a meltdown in the reactor core, where the fuel rods are damaged then we are talking about radiation that could pose health risks from cancer agents that cause tumors, such as thyroid cancer or worse.
And there is the whole fact that this is going to cripple the global economy. Have you taken a look as to how this has affected the EU Indexes and the NYSE and NASDAQ in the United States? Everything is plummeting, again. And it is causing some real concerns in the United States because people are worried about the nuclear facilities we have on the west coast. You do know, nuclear power is one of our few viable energy resource alternatives to coal and oil, right? A blow to the nuclear industry like this is going to hurt Europe and the United States in the long run as well.
Anyway, this is a bit more than your "run of the mill" disaster. If you don't care about the Japanese people, then at least understand the lasting repercussions this is going to have to not only Japan, but to the rest of the world.
