Somewhat intelligent, does in no way mean that we are geniuses, I'm simply saying that we are intelligible people, we don't lack comprehension of basic things, we aren't mentally challenged. Now, with that, we can obviously read context, do you know what context is? You're a functioning person, so that means you use context every day of your life.
When you see someone put their hand to their head, do you assume they have a headache?
I fail to see how I was being funny at all, it's not hard to infer what someone thinks by the way they act.
Lol another funny comment there! So now a person that holds his head has a headache? So I guess these people
are in an excruciating pain.Hahha, I love the way you read what you want and dismiss the rest when writing a reply.
You will make many rage quit in the future, I will look forward to how you develop.

It's called an example, and of course it does not apply all the time, but if you really do not know what context is, I suggest you pick up a book called "Speech, Style, and Grammar" it explains context with body language, and much more.
Anyhow you bore me since all you can do is take a valid posting and respond with idiocy. Now be aware, I am not calling you an idiot, but the way you're acting sure is stupid.

This thread has definitely gone way off-topic, but at the moment, I won't be locking it due to the potential provided by most of the comments; they may become ideas for improvement.
However, I am not going to tolerate any futher flaming nor "useless" (which could be subjective) comments which do not add value to the topic.

Spoiler:
First and foremost, this is not a response to the reputation issue. I could not care less about the reputation system so I won't stick my nose into that argument.
However, Naoto, you seem to purposely misunderstand what someone else is saying just so can fault them for it. And from an outsider's perspective it looks like you're manufacturing reasons just so you have something to continue arguing about.
Spoiler:
^At this point you should have stopped your argument, but instead you continued to persist. TMS made it clear what his thoughts were and asked you to take his post at face value. You chose not to.
Spoiler:
^Tranquility makes a valid point that adds to the discussion and you choose to respond only to the "intelligent human beings" part; making it look like he in some way insulted you. It looks like the only reason you did this was because he didn't agree with you and presented a valid argument.
Spoiler:
^Tranquility tries to clarify after you misunderstand. Again, I don't see him insulting you. I see him trying to explain his point for your benefit so there are no misconceptions.
You remind me of Joe Pesci. You ask, "What, do you think I'm funny? Am I funny to you?" Then when they say no and try to explain themselves, you take out your baseball bat and bash them upside the head with it. Figuratively, of course.

this is still the best reply in this situation tho. For someone who talks about context you really can't see through this one?
I totally decided to ignore your post since it will build another rail into this already utterly derailed thread. Worse, it will divert attention from the previous issue which was back then at large *reps*. It was already solved tho in the chatroll so I will not talk about it any longer, PM the people who were mainly involved if you want to know what happened. I will not post in this thread any longer as it just brings about more ridiculousness each time a new topic comes about. For the guy who talked about "intelligent human beings" that's not a category but rather the general. The better term would be an "intelligent life form" since human beings are all intelligent in general.

To chip in to answer your question (ignoring the rest of this thread). What I personally want from Fakku is a place I can go to talk intelligently with my fellow Fakkuza. I want the community to have that "family" feeling like we're all brothers, sister, cousins, etc again. Family members can squabble and everything would still be cool like it used to. The problem is people aren't squabbling anymore over misunderstandings or whatever but, a certain group of users have a history of causing trouble. Just like the laws of the land. The laws of fakku should be impartial, unforgiving, uncaring. You break them, you lose, period. There is too much favoritism on the forums when it comes to the rules. I know other staff members have tried to correct this problem to no avail. So at this point, the only person who can do anything at this point is Jacob. I also want the rules to be enforced for once. Someone flames a user or harasses a user then they should get punished. I don't give a fuck if they personally suck Jacob off every day. They are a user and are held to the same standards as every other user. The only exceptions are the mods who would be held to a slightly higher more "professional" standard. A perfect example for that "standard" is Gambler. I have never once had a reason to even entertain the thought of him doing anything unmod like.
Now, I'll leave this thread before I catch some sort of disease or something.
I agree whole-heartedly. But the thing is, how well do we define the rules?
For example, the first rule is, "Do not insult or harass other members." That sounds simple, but it can be hard to determine if a poster is expressing himself (and does not mean any harm) or if he is insulting another member(s). Not to pick on TMS, but I saw this post in the Post Your Pics! thread, and it's a wonderful example:

most likely wont happen rbz, can't say that upsets me though. I'm done with this topic; nothing but conjecture and misunderstandings(intentional or not).
as for determining what everyone wants out of these forums, what's the point of asking? too many people have conflicting goals and everyone can't have everything they want.

If we want to get everybody on the same page, then we need to find out what everybody wants, in detail. Do people want less hostility but the ability to still poke fun at one another? That might work, but it could lead to misunderstandings. So, do people want a good place to talk and would be willing to eliminate any kind of negative talk to gain such? I know a lot of people wouldn't want that.To chip in to answer your question (ignoring the rest of this thread). I completely agree as well.
However, this is Jacob's forum and he is free to run it the way he wants. If I don't like it, I am free to spend my time elsewhere. This is not to say I think Jacob has a "love it or leave it" attitude; I believe he cares a great deal about the Fakku community. That being said, so far, very little action(other than a threat of a rules crackdown that quickly aborted and never followed through) has occurred.
What I really want is to hear something from Jacob and the admins. Tell us how you see the situation, what you plan to do or not do, what the goal is for the forum and community. Us users have given our input concerning the forums, but what really matters with respect to tangible change is what you think, and that is why I want to know.
On the subject of rep . . .
Several ideas concerning "fixing" rep have been proposed and discussed(my only personal involvement in the suggestion process was concerning the elimination of negative rep), but most met with significant resistance. I have come to believe that there are significant entrenched interests who support the current rep system and want to keep it the way it is rather than change it. Jacob himself recognized this.
Jacob on 6/28/09 wrote...
I never intended reputation to be used as it is now. That doesn't mean I don't like it's current use, but it wasn't my original intent.Originally I planned to use reputation as a way to give people permission to upload manga to the site and edit manga information. I assumed people with higher reputation could be trusted with those privileges. But obviously I never finished my plans and now it looks like that won't be happening.
I probably won't remove reputation just because I think it is a powerful system. The community is passionate about it (not always positively). And I don't think it's a bad thing when people get upset about losing reputation or feel happy when they receive one. I have come very close to removing reputation that goes below zero, meaning that no one can have negative reputation points. That is probably the closest I will come to removing it.
But I am open to hearing everyone's thoughts on the subject.

Alright. Well seeing how I do not deem reading through twenty-five pages of posts (each of which seem to be excruciatingly long) can someone here sum up what has happened?

In other words, its dumb.

It's a lot more complicated than that and it's sorta insulting that you would sum up a thread with many thoughtful opinions in it as dumb but...short the answer to your question TheDarkStarAlchemist is....no.
@Hinagiku: I'm sure it entertained some for you to argue with Waar (and in my opinion you did the better job (especially by not trying to put your opinions about your opponent in other people's mouths) ), I've already stated my opinion on it and would like to point out again that people getting into arguments with Waar and people like him is one of the things causing the deterioration of this forum.
@Waar: You can't "take the higher road" or whatever because 1) You already wasted many pages with your pointless arguing with people and 2) I already asked you to stop arguing with people in this thread. You knew ahead of time not to do it and did it anyway so don't act like you don't look like the biggest ass involved.
@TMS & Klown: Clearly you both have differences in opinions about rep and I don't see why you both had to come to the point of practically namecalling about it. Frankly I think both sides have valid points, that the system is inherently broken, and that I've yet to hear any really good replacements for it.
@NS: I don't really feel like your pics and complaining are really providing anything to the thread.
I feel the same way about Sindalf's comments.

LOL, sure you asked me to not post, but I ignored you; what else is new? As to your opinion on who did better, I really don't believe your biased view counts and we both know why. P.S. It was suggested to me and I said I would; perhaps if someone had asked Hina to "take the high road", he would have. Grow up and get over your bleeding vagina.

Ramsus, what fight were you watching? All i saw hinagoku do was try to put words in others mouths. I'm not one to agree with Waar but this thread has certainly made me question the reasoning of my foul opinion of him.
