[quote="SmittenKitten"]"Bathhouses are against the law."[/quote}What country is that a law in? This is really uncool. I have kind of wanted to go to a bath house. Why? honestly just because I see them in anime's all the time. It makes me want to try it
It's specific to California and I don't know why. I was a little upset... but more so because when I was talking about it with someone... an older person said that it was a good law and went on to insinuate that, "You never know what goes on in those places." A little homophobia I suppose. I don't like that crap though. People are people, homophobia is bullshit to me. He was clearly from another generation though. :/
Based on a guess alone, I would say the law is old and links directly to homophobia in the first place... maybe I'll look it up though and get back to you. :D

Well, nothing like California. I moved there over the summer.....wut I think is the best thing to say. Got pulled over because the cop was like "Where's your front liscence plate?" as about 5 cars passed us without them, that were Cali registered.....I'm from South Carolina. >.<
That's really all I can complain about, but to keep this post relevant.....by law(divorce paperwork) I live with my mom, I didn't for 2 years and my dad claimed me on taxes......now, for some reason residency in college is based entirely on income taxes.....nothing else, so because my dad claimed me....I have to pay 186 dollars per hour instead of 36, even though there is a legal sheet of paper saying I live with my mom. doesn't matter. So stupid.

Dumb Laws themselves have more info.
http://www.dumblaws.com/law/190
Specifically, this is what they say on why it exists:
This law was enacted shortly after the AIDS epidemic came into the News in the 1980's. Bathhouses were one of the primary places people could go for anonymous sex. This law was designed to curtail exposure to HIV and other STD's.
