Would you die for someone other than yourself.

I've always had a slight problem with that. Why is it that when people have kids they somehow go above your spouse in every way? :[

I agree. You choose your spouse, they should maybe even come before your kids. After all you did take a vow of marriage - of course some people don't take that vow to seriously now a days...

Look at it this way though, if you save your children but loose the spouse you never can get them back. If you save the spouse and loose the children, you can make more children.

Well, I don't think thats really the way to look at it. It's not just a child, it's a person. You can't recreate that child. It's a different child, a different person.

I just believe your spouse is your spouse. Your one love (supposedly). However, I don't have children. Those who have children tell me that there is a bond between your own child and yourself that is beyond anything. Until I have children, I won't understand that, but at this point in time I would want my spouse to choose me over our child. Selfish? Yea. Can I help that I feel that way? Not really.

to answer your question your child is kind of like your creation, its a part of you the love you feel for your children is not the same as the love you feel for your spouse, you have loved that child since it first came into this world, you cant say the same for your spouse.

So, in short .. saving your child = save yours (indirectly) ?

It depends on situation though , if it's not that critical then i will find a way to save them without my death ....
but if it's REALLY critical .. then , i will do whatever it takes

I would sacrifice myself only to save my own family, like what has been said in this thread a couple times.

No I wouldnt die or even lose honour for someone else but I would kill (Amongst other things *Dependant on situation*) for the one I love!

Sure, but not for anybody. First, I must love that person, second, that person must be enjoying his/her live more than I do. I wouldn't let myself got killed for someone who will not enjoy his/her life.

I'd die for my family. It'd be conflicting but I could see myself dying for them.

Hmm, I guess I can do that if and only if I had something or someone important than myself. As of now, I don't have those kind of precious people in my life so I'll say no.

I would sacrifice my life for saving anyone else's i guess. Just think about it. If i see a random stranger about to be crushed by a car and im nearby i might push him ( actually im smart enough to pull him ) but what i mean is... i couldnt stand seeing anyone die if i could do anything about it... just selfishness in fact, i just can't stand it.

i could very abnormal for stranger. since if see a truck or an accident about to happen i will do anything that i can without personal safety to save the person.
if i somehow survived but will die from wounds i will tell the person " you better cure cancer"
i will easily die for my brother and family no question asked(while some i would lead to hell personally)

I'd die for my wife and future kids. I mean she and they (eventually) are the only reason why I go to work, do chores, take out trash etc in the first place.
