Would you die for someone other than yourself.

No. My life is of the utmost importance to me. The reason, I believe, that people say they are willing to sacrifice themselves, is that they either have little to no sense of self worth, or truly underestimate the finality and totality of death. Something I agree with, your life is the most important thing to you, for example anyone can put a gun to their head and not be able to fire the trigger, your mind stops you making irrational choices unconsciously.
However if there was a way round stopping the death with minimum impact to anyone else then yes I'd agree.

Personally yes, but I get what you guys are saying, and it makes logical sense to me. The only real reason I would is probably because of my training and my duty as a Marine. Um, but yeah, all that said, I am not going to go into a building full of insurgents for a dead body. However if that Marine is wounded and captured, there is not a Marine out there that would not risk everything they have so that Marine can go back to his family, wife, fiancee, girlfriend, whatever.

Well I guess I'm one of those people. Anyway I always think of others no matter who they are before thinking of myself. Although I understand that death is final.. I don't care and I'd rather die than having to bear with the guilt of not doing anything. Hope that doesn't sound to dramatic to you hehehe...

If I had to be in that extremely unfortunate position, it would only be dying to *protect* the people I love, otherwise, my life is far too important to me to throw away like that.

Knowing full well my body reacts far faster then my brain can catch up, I'd die for the person I love.
That being said, if given enough time to analyze the situation I'd make a grand attempt to save said person and preserve my life at the same time. In most situations, the death is merely the worst possible cause, it's entirely possible to save someone without causing death upon yourself :P
Why? Because though heroic, you're now dead, and the person you just saved now has to grieve which may or may not cause problems that would render your sacrifice moot. If you manage to stay alive after saving the person, the bond is all the more stronger ^-^

I can say that I would. I've always been one to switch places with my friends whenever I could if they got into dangerous situations. I also care very deeply for them and would move without thinking.

I would take a bullet for any member of my family and for my best friend, we've been friends since first grade and we're like brothers to each other and as such I would gladly take a bullet for him.

I would die for someone if it was epic...like I take a bullet for them and right before I die, I fall to my knees, look over at the person I saved, and have a heroic smile as blood drips down my face and I say something like "See ya later"
...but no really.
I would die for my boyfriend. He is my best friend as well and we have been together for years, and their is no one on this planet that I am closer with than him.
Or if Rei Ayanami were a real person, I would sacrifice myself in a second...

Depends on the situation, if its me trading my life for someone else, then a big maybe, if its in a situation where I can avoid death with no other death related consequences for others then no. If its me trading my life for alot of people and I think they are worth it, then again maybe. Hard to know until your in the situation, easy to say when typing at a computer, not so easy when your doing it.
