Would you die for someone other than yourself.

really depends, because people change when the situation shows
even if someone loves you enough or a good enough person to sacrifice their life for you, they might change their mind when it actually comes to it

I tryed and failed....
03/12/06 Sorry Nycole i should have tryed harder...
My ex girlfriend killed herself with a gun.
Now the part where I tryed and failed is I tryed to take the gun away from her and she shot me in the arm, seen what she did, said sorry and shot herself.
I never want to see that happened to anyone I love ever again.
To this day I still say that what happened is my doing.
I should have known something was wrong with her.
That some fucked up birthday I had...

@Lunar: Sorry for that loss man, there probably isn't a way to describe that feeling of hopelessness. It probably isn't the same but there was someone that made me regret and wish there were things I could've done. It was an online friend, we were pretty tight despite knowing each other for no more than maybe 5 months. On a random chat, I said something that set her off (not sure what it was nowadays) and she disappeared with "Maybe I was better off dead." as her last words. For the following months, I constantly tried to make contact but was unable to reach her, I eventually gave up fearing that the worst case scenario has come to past. I'll never get an answer on what happened after that day. The events aren't the same and I'm most likely not aware of the whole extent of your feelings, but I at least hope I know how you feel.
As for the topic, yeah, I would. No matter what it would take.

Theoretically, yes. I would die for any one of my best friends. Realistically, if I were put in that position... I have no idea.

I would die for any random passerby.
That'd make a hell of a memory for them, wouldn't it? Some random guy pops around the corner and yells "NOOOOO!" and then he takes the bullet/gets hit by the car/whatever. You just made that persons life.
Besides, that's probably the most interesting thing that's going to happen in yours or theirs. You may as well go out with a bang...no pun intended.

Depends entirely on the situation.
If it's somebody who I figure deserves to live more than I do, someone who has more to accomplish and achieve, then sure.
Or someone that I care very much about.

i would, if there are no other option nor time left.
in the end people die eventually and to die for other is a good way to die.

I would tell anyone in public my family, but the sad truth is I wouldnt die for anyone....(maybe a very hot chick....and she would have to be reeeaaaallly hot)

I would quite happily die for my friends, if I wasn't so determined to live for my family.
In fact, that very way of thinking has got me through a lot.

At the moment, I would not, there's not anyone I deem worthwhile to give my life up for, nor would they want me to if the decision came down to it.

I'm very selfish. it all depends on the person. Course, I would if I liked/loved them. If I hate them, I'd make the situation 100x worse.

[font=Verdana][color=green]I have too much pride to let anyone die on my watch. If I were - no offence to those who don't feel the same as I do - a coward, I'd hate myself for the rest of my life. That being said, if I know that they will cause much more harm than good being alive, I'll let them die.
I'd rather die a hero, than live a coward.

I guess if it were to save someone from a bullet or something, maybe. But simply killing oneself in the name of love? Now that's just stupid.
What I don't get is that in stories, when someone takes a bullet for someone, why must they do it in a manner that garentees that the bullet they take is fatal? Why can't they take a less fatal route and sacrifice a limb or something?

No. My life is of the utmost importance to me. The reason, I believe, that people say they are willing to sacrifice themselves, is that they either have little to no sense of self worth, or truly underestimate the finality and totality of death.
