Do you hate the U.S?

I find it funny that a lot of the reasons for why people hate the US aren't exclusive to the US.
The citizens - The majority of people everywhere suck. It's not just in the US. Everywhere, you will find stupid people, intolerant people, assholes, etc. There may be more of them in America, but that could simply be a perception. As Ziggy stated, there is a lot of diversity in America, and one city may have a lot of morons while another city has a lot of intelligent people, and that could just be one state. It's not like every place you go in America, you'll find a league of bastards that try to kill or humiliate you.
Obsession with celebrities/useless shit - What country doesn't have tabloids? What country doesn't have stupid TV shows that don't help the viewer at all?
Patriotism - I don't like that I'll get bitched out if I say something bad about the government in America, but I also don't like that I'll get bitched out if I say something bad about the queen in England. (The point - most citizens of a country don't like when you say the country is shitty.)
Obstruction of rights - Show me a country where you can do whatever you want without any legal recourse. I don't think such a country exists.
I just think that if you're going to hate America, you might as well hate every other country in the world, too. America isn't the best country, but there's no such thing as a "best country." They all have their problems, and we could bitch about any country all day long.

People think they've got a good argument because they skipped over some minute details that's already been posted... I'm pretty sure you conveniently skipped over what I said about the origins of marriage which makes it pretty much a religious rite from the beginning.
Yea, and I'm sure you're just saying that to jerk yourself off.

I'm fine with gays getting benefits. But for them to intrude on a ceremony that these church goers hold sacred is kind of a bitch move.If you're not smart enough to pick up my message from this, then I have nothing further to argue, cause it might get too complicated...
Let's start again: Church fuckers make marriage and call it holy and blah, blah, fucking blah. The government turns marriage into a legal social contract where people can just marry, never mentioned about it having to be under god. Copy and paste, get it? Sure the fags are intruding on their idea of marriage, but the church doesn't get to decide how marriage is to be done. Civil union is just some euphemism so the church fuckers feel better.(that's what it looks like to me) They're to different words, but they mean similar things. "Separate but equal." Remind you of something?

The ceremony of marriage was created by religion. If you think about it, that's all I said. I never said the union between a couple belonged to religion. But you apparently have a problem with gays having a ceremonial marriage where they do shit other people do which doesn't include the bible.

When the fuck did we bring statues in? This is a completely different situation. What you're talking about is also known as defacement of public/private property. Relevant? No.And you're questioning my intelligence? How about not taking what I say so literally.

Again, seeing as how it's a religious matter how is it the states problem? It's our problem if religious laws get passed.
PersonDude wrote...
Just like the church, though they are against homo-sexuality, all they're saying is don't use their religious ceremony to bond against their laws.See, that's what I don't get. Do you mean ceremony as in:
a formal act or series of acts prescribed by ritual, protocol, or convention; prescribed procedures,
or is there some deeper meaning you're focusing on?
Going by the definition: So what if the gays have a marriage ceremony. They just do what others do in a marriage.(going down the aisle, rings, say I do, all that marriage shit.) So long as they don't include god in their marriage the religious should shut the fuck up. Then again, there are christians who cherry pick their beliefs from the bible who are also gay, and it's their religious fucking belief that they should be allowed to marry under god.

Valid point. I'll keep that in mind next time I come across some American hating S.O.B. When you use that argument in the past most people back pedal to "Well Bush..." Which these people fail to realize that politicians are liars. Its the nature of their craft. Bush didn't portray himself as some right wing, fanatical, fascist nut job. Barrack Obama didn't portray himself as a anti-capitalistic, Marxist either. The president may be the head of the government and the icon on the world stage for America. He doesn't represent all of the citizens so using him as a way to label all Americans shows flawed logic.
We may be a bit full of ourselves as a country but, let me ask you this; Who does everyone come running to when they need humanitarian aid, Peacekeeping troops, etc?

Good points, but there are people who hate America for "meddling" with other countries. (Though this still doesn't give them the right to hate its citizens)
Still, great points and +rep is in order (when I get the chance).

If the gays just want the usual marriage then why should they care what religious people think of marriage?
PersonDude wrote...
They did have a point, but seeing as how they weren't able to offer another law of sorts to base their opinion, it didn't matter since all they thought about was the gay marriage. My bad, I'll rephrase this: But a lot of them are bible waving and they are ruining this country by basing laws off of religion.
A lot of them have a religion that has too much influence in our country. It seems like god is more mandatory in some places rather than an option. For example, the pledge of allegiance, our money, and when we swear on something they make us say, "do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help you god?" Plus, the gay marriage shit.

See, your problem is the leakage of blood between your legs. No one fucking cares about your grudge for the church. If you want to argue about it, go ahead, just don't bring it into a serious topic, biased, 'cause in the end all it is, is just you whining because you hate god which is not the topic here.

I don't have any grudges against the church. If defending my belief against some bullshit with a passion while disrespecting religious fucks is a grudge, then I might as well turn pale white and croak before killing them all. Just because I don't refer to them with respect doesn't mean what I say automatically means whining about them. Seems to me you're getting pretty pissy about the subject. Want to try and think about what I said for a moment without casting it off as meaningless "whining?"

Let's reiterate:
It doesn't matter if religious people recognize gay marriage, as long as they don't get laws passed based on their religious belief. If the gays want marriage then why should they care about recognizing religious ceremonies? What if the gays are religious and they think what they're doing is perfectly fine within the aspects of the bible which they have chosen to believe? If they're doing it wrong, then the other religious should not care what happens to them as they shall burn in hell.

I can go with that. Just don't expect the religion to be happy if gays use their rite (no it's not misspelled) to marry. But if the homo-sexual couple don't, then it's fine. As I said, I really don't care either way, but that's just how the religion will look at it, and I don't really see too much of a problem with it if the religion get's mad as it is their ceremony.

Bit late in the game I suppose to be posting, but nevertheless...
Living in the U.S. (and more specifically, Southern Cal) has given me 2 things. First and foremost, a negative position regarding the intelligence of teenage females. Top two words for these people are 'like' and 'god'. These people prove the stereotype of valley-girl and make me want to scream bloody murder. Second, a dislike for Americans in general. Americans are in general, closed-minded, ignorant, emotional, and can't think for themselves. Makes me want to move to Holland. No, I don't hate it, because there is NO CURE for STUPID PEOPLE
U.S. side effects include ignorance, loss of intelligence, nausea, depression, blind belief in god, and fast food joints. U.S. is not for everyone. Consult your doctor before use.

Yes, well, look where that got us. Now the U.S. thinks it is entitled to spread democracy like some kid of deformed belief of Manifest Destiny and that now we can interfere in any country's affairs when really they just want us to butt the Hell out.

Isolationism is no longer possible. With instant communication and the ability to fly anywhere in the world in less than a day, you can't just ignore what other countries are doing. If Afghanistan is exporting terrorists, they can use communication to recruit from within other countries and they can fly planes into buildings. International markets are huge, and it's hard to trade with someone while cutting off all other contact. Isolationism was possible when getting from Europe to North America required a 4 week ship voyage that wasn't without significant risk, but that is no longer the case.

Well it's not like I don't realize that isolationism is no longer possible, but really the United States needs to butt out of some countries affairs. I mean if the country is part of that (god awful) United Nations then fine the United States therefor has a dialect with that country, but some countries just don't want others to be involved, but the United States thinks it has a mandate to interfere when the country does anything that the United States or the United Nations doesn't agree with as a whole. To me that is complete bullshit.
That's why I despise the United Nations so much. Something as important as global unification simply cannot be based on majority voting. Countries are always going to have their own interests at heart, and some are bound to interfere with others or even the majority of others. It's a political mess and a pathetic attempt at doing what it was set out to do. The United Nations is barely better than the League of Nations.

Honestly I really don't hate the US at all. I think that, in theory, it is a very admirable social system. However, I can't say that I am fond of the people. I have a strong disdain for humans in general, and I'm well aware that the generalization includes myself. It's not a surprise to the people who've heard my rants. For the new blood around here, I'll just put it bluntly, humans are irrational, dumb, and prone to violence. Shave off the thin layer of "rationality" and we are beasts that kill, fuck, eat, fuck, kill, sleep, fuck, drink, and kill... and sometimes fuck and kill at the same time. Back when there weren't so many of us it wasn't necessarily a problem, but look at us now in all our splendor.
I don't hate the US, or people from the US for that matter, I just hate people in general. There's no point in breaking us down into groups, we're all as admirable and despicable as the next.
