Is suicide wrong?
0
Do you believe that if someone is in so much pain that it hurts to live, that it's okay to end it. Or is it wrong even if your life causes more pain to yourself and others than ending it would. I appologize if this is a repost. I searched and couldn't find a similar topic.

Suicide IS wrong.
It is a sin.
Live life fully until the bitter end.
that's what I believe.

But in this case, I'd go for it because it'd be choosing the lesser of 2 evils (that is, if the pain you're causing others is permanent as long as you live or if it's just temporary. if it's the latter, then don't go killing yourself).
Alot of people (who I knew) that committed suicide did it because they thought they were hated or unrecognized. The truth was that all of that was in their heads. They came to their own conclusions.

Depends on your reason, if you feel just feel unwanted or something similar, yes its wrong. but if your life's really fucked up you'll die miserably, why not? just remember to donate your organs. but really, why commit suicide? if someone gives you so much pain, eliminate him... err.. the pain, i mean.

I really have to lol at users who have to use 'sin' to justify that suicide is wrong....I mean, with so much arguments going on the truth of religion, to use eligion as a justification is....well, whatever. I won't delve into that here.
To me suicide s wrong. It's wrong in that we shouldn't be giving up and live on. There are many ways to solve problems and taking out lives(whomever it is, for that matter) is not a solution. But yeah, to me the wrongness of suicide is in the same level as it's wrong to give up. That's all. I think of it as murder too, but since the killer died in this case, there's no point in judging him. Just say "Oh man, he was sure quite the foolish one".

I, personally, have made the firm commitment on several occasions to never allow suicide to be an option.
For others, either by their own hands or it being assisted suicide, I wouldn't regulate it. Yes, I would prefer they try rehabilitation, but some things aren't fixable.
I have many quotes I suppose could relate to suicide, but after just recently re-watching Neon Genesis Evangelion, again, I found this: "He has a chance to be happy anytime because he is alive."

If "sin" is your justification, you imply divine law and therefore there is NO circumstance that would ever make it acceptable; lesser of two evils or not.

I do believe suicide is wrong. I do not think of it as a sin, because that would imply that I am better than anyone who has committed suicide. I simply look at suicide as quitting. I do not like to give up.

The pain or suffering your having in life are just temporary compare to that "ETERNAL SUFFERING" that is waiting for you the moment you kill yourself. If you really wanna die fast, why not put on a costume and wait on a roof or something and wait for a crime to happen and then go play batman wannabe and hope to be killed in the process.

If the question is soley if suicide in itself is wrong, then my response is no. However, I do believe that the consequences of suicide can be wrong.
If one wants to kill themselves then it is ones own right as a person. They have implied no harm except on themselves in a physical sense. The consequences of suicide on one's family and friends, however, is a wrong thing to do. And while it is may not be the intention of the victim to hurt his family, it is still at his fault for causing them grievance.
No if the question is should one be allowed to commit suicide or should a society not look down on suicide then my answer is no. Suicide is a horrible alternative to most of life's answers. However, I don't deny that there are situations where it is the only good answer left, and I emphasize good because it is a good thing to do in the given situation at hand.

As long as the suicide isn't harming anyone else in the process.
There's nothing I hate more than hearing about suicides occurring by some asshole who decided to kill themselves by flooring their car head on to an innocent driver potentially killing them as well.
I don't think it's our place what a person should and should not do with their life. Everyone views life differently and is free to decide how to act upon it. If a person feels that they want to end their life, I believe they should have the freedom to make that decision.
However, I do believe that prevention is important also. Many times people commit suicide as they feel it's their only option. I think counseling and especially if there's a psychological issue where serotonin levels are unbalanced causing dangerous levels of depression where thoughts of suicide occur are extremely important to diagnose and try to help the person.
I don't think a person should be judged based on their actions they take, but I do think people should try to help prevent suicide.

I actually could've made the post without the "It's a sin". And I never meant to imply that it's acceptable, but there are some situations where you have to choose between 2 unacceptable choices. Like, if a murderer told you to steal $100 mil from a bank or he'd kill your wife(who you love btw), the most reasonable choice is stealing rather than ensuring your wife's death.
0
I'd say that the most reasonable choice is to NOT steal $100 million.
Anyone who actually would put a person in that situation can't be trusted to go through with his word.
To those people who claim suicide is a sin, what if the person is an atheist?

Hm....no matter how slim the chance, it's always better than no chance right? Going back on his word might actually work against him with today's forensics also.
If the person is an atheist, what I said up there still applies, just take out the "It's a sin" part.

I think the answer to this question ultimately comes down to what you personally believe. There are lots of answers in this thread, but most of them wouldn't necessarily help someone trying to deal with this decision themselves.
Really it comes down to what you believe happens when someone dies. If you believe in heaven, and you believe that heaven is better than hell, and you believe that god would refuse a person entry into heaven because they killed themselves, then obviously suicide is wrong. But that's alot of ifs, and I'm willing to bet most people contemplating suicide don't have much faith in god anymore.
For anyone else thinking about suicide, I doubt that what their friends and family think matters very much either - after all when you die (presuming you don't have traditional religious beliefs) all that ceases to be your problem. And really it shouldn't be. You should never feel like you have to live just for someone else. Your life should have a purpose of its own, and for anyone to cling to a person who truly wants to die and force them to live is selfish and unfair.
If you ask me, you need to find this answer for yourself. To anyone contemplating suicide, stop worrying about what everyone else thinks and just consider whats best for you. I suspect that if more people could just manage to do this, they would see that there is no need for suicide in the first place. No one else should decide your life for you, especially when concerning your life itself.

I do not think in terms of right and wrong. I just think its a sad way to go.
Who knows what goes in the mind of those who decide to kill themselves? Some say its weakness, others say illness. It could be anything.

I personally find it extremely wrong.
Imagine how hard your family went through, how much time and effort they took to nurture you into a brilliant young man / woman. And you are telling them 'HAHA WASTED EFFORTS PWNED' and just end your own life. It is extremely irresponsible. Your friends would be in pain. Your parents would be in pain. Your siblings and relatives would be in pain.
To me, your just chickened out of life. You don't want to deal with the pain / stress you have in life, so you transferred it to those who shall mourn your death.
You won't feel a shit when you die, those who are still living shall feel the pain.

Suicide is boring. Pussies running away from life. Either live to your fullest or die the loudest.

I would say to a person who wants to suicide as it is wrong and dumb just for the sake of preventing it, but for the already dead, I wouldnt say what they chose is wrong.
