Is suicide wrong?

What if you commit suicide to save 100 people?
Or in Angels and Demons, the Pope burns himself to death for some apparent reason not because his life sucked or anything but for the people.

Suicide is selfish and just takes into account the problems of one person.

Let's look at it this way. Was Hitler committing suicide wrong? The man deserved die. Now he probably would've been executed so does it even make a difference. You could say that essentially the allies did kill him. I mean he probably wouldn't have popped cyanide if the allies weren't destroying his army, razing his land, slaughtering his honour guard and pounding on his front door.

It is their life, no matter the logic, no matter the pain, no matter anything, it is within their choice and power to do as they please. If they truly believe suicide is the only way then I will let them. I only really view it as a last resort, they should at least try to fix their lives. But if they feel their life sucks THAT much, hey, I will respect their opinion and mourn their death.

Police discovered the bodies at a home in Fayetteville Monday night.
FAYETTEVILLE – Police say a Fayetteville man killed his wife and two teenage children before turning the gun on himself.
Police found the bodies of 47-year-old William Maxwell Jr., his wife Kathryn and their two children, 17-year-old Connor and 15-year-old Cameron, in their home in the Haymount neighborhood on West Park Drive Monday night.

I agree that murder-suicides are wrong. People should not kill others. But I don't see a problem with a person killing themselves.
Yes, it's sad and in a perfect world would not happen. But ultimately, they're throwing away their own life. If they don't want to live I'm not going to stop them. Especially if they're terminally ill or some kind of dangerous criminal.
I don't see the point of the police stopping a mass murderer from killing themselves, only to sentence them to the death penalty.

Those events are tragic, however the only problem I see with it is the murder part. If anyone who could kill like that wants to off themselves I say let them. We will be better off for it. The murderer should not be counted as a casualty.

It is wrong! And can never be right no matter what the circumstances.Care to explain why it's wrong? And why can't it be right under some circumstances? Back up your statement, mate.
I don't think suicide is wrong, but I do think it is selfish. If someone cares about you and you go of and kill yourself, where does that leave them? In a big pit of despair
I was recently talking about Kurt Cobain and David Grohl with a friend of mine and he said this:
"after a previous suicide attempt, Kurt was banned from buying guns; unstable, you see
they can do that, prevent you from purchasing guns
some time later....he asked Dave to buy a shotgun for him, because he wanted to go hunting
Dave wasn't suspicious, after all, who kills themself with a shotgun? also, he trusted Kurt
...I can't imagine how selfish someone must be to fuck up a friends' life like Kurt did for Dave by using that very shotgun"

No its not wrong the fact is that if you think in your mind that your not doing something wrong and in the end it will help you and the people around you then I feel that its okay. Saying its wrong is like saying if a man was to commit a sin to help someone and confesses to god it doesn't matter he should still burn in hell for eternity.

It's not my fault if some guy decides to kill himself. I personally think that the person in question should at least take into consideration the effects his death would have on others and then truly decide what to do next.
I don't want anyone I know to do that, and if they do, I'll end up with guilt-induced insomnia and a conscience weighted in my mind by an anvil.

What I hate is when people go around preaching that suicide is selfish. I've been to that low, failed my attempt at it, and never once thought I was doing it for any reason other that life had just become confused misery. While I sat in bed watching my mother and sister complain at me that I could "Talk out what I was going through, why was I being so selfish, and think of what would have happened to us?", I realized that if someone really felt that things could not change, life is terrible and will not get any better, then I am no one to judge. Call it apathy if you will, but it's a personal choice, not something to be analyzed.

I think as long as he had selfless intentions, he should get a chance... but if he's a hypocrite, that probably applies.
Anyways, I've been taught that suicide is a sin in itself. Coz God gave us life, and wasting it like so is like disregarding God's gift; you might as well disregard your ticket to heaven.
Besides, as long as you're alive you can do things the dead can't do, like ,oh say... ANYTHING!

Thats not much on an argument considering if your on your death bed suffering day by day you can't do to much can you. By no means do advocate suicide the only way it is okay is to end physical or mental suffering. Okay I mean someone who is just depressed one day and kills themself thats not okay. I mean a situation more like if everyday you were on a pill regiment and you were suffering. If you killed yourself you would end your suffering and just think about the detrimental effects of seeing a family member suffering and not being able to do anything about it. Although your family would be upset you died I don't really think they would say "How selfish." I think they'd be happy that your suffering has finally ended.
