Is suicide wrong?

Life is full of twist and you never know what is going to happen next. Just because you're life is in the sh!ter right now doesn't mean that come tommorow, next week, or even next month its will be as well.
Simply put If I would've been rather weak minded 6 years ago into believing suicide was okay then i would have never lived to have such an amazing life now

It depends. If it's for the good like saving another person's life then go.. except for the releasing people from their pain. For this one you should just change for the better good.

I think suicide is fine, in context. You're life is miserable and there is no foreseeable way to make your life better, either emotionally or physically then I think suicide is an option, or if your suicide can save someone else that you love or respect, then fine.
Granted suicide is a Deadly Sin a la Wrath, but I'm not going down the religion path because I'm an Atheist.

Suicide is a pathetic shortcut for those who want to quit the game. And those people are called quitters and losers. As long as a person lives, he has hope.

Depends on the situation in my opinion. If you're in a war and going to be killed, might as well set off a bomb and take yourself and as many others out with you.
If you mean just someone killing themselves because they think life is unfair and too hard for them, then suicide is wrong and stupid. There's a way out of just about any problem that presents itself and giving up rather than trying your hardest is wrong. Besides that, think of what the effect of your death may yield on the people who love you. Your suicide could deeply hurt your parents, siblings, or friends.
Suicide is a selfish way to run away from your problems and leaves others with a burden once you die. So I'm pretty much against it.

Your suicide could deeply hurt your parents, siblings, or friends.Truth is sometimes there is no other way available, people normally commit suicide because they can find no other way. How did you know if they did no try? How did you know if they had tryed so hard but without return? They killed themselves because they can find nobody to depend on to solve their problems. Sometimes we who did not wore their shoes probabbly can not understand nor recognize their situation.
Assumptions about their lives does not apply in general, not everyone of them have loved ones, not every one of them have something to depend on when they suicide.

So because he screwed up in life to accumulate a large debt, he will kill himself and torture all his loved ones? What if the people he owed the debt to passed it on to his family? Then they have to suffer because he didn't want to. Suicide is very selfish for those kind of reasons.

Suicide... I would say it's okay to do, as long as it meets several criteria:
1. You must be in alot of pain on a daily basis, and basically having an absolute crap life equal to prison in cheziostan. (No, it's not a country, don't get me started, i will flame >.>)
2. At least 70% of your family members must agree completely with it.
Your childrens opinions count double.
If it matches up to that, i would agree, anything less and he'll just have to keep jumping from the window on his own.
Of course i am talking about helped suicide right now, straight out suicide ussually is in the heat of thought and should never be done.

Suicide is in my opinion not an option and neither a way out, it is just a "lame" end. Unless someone is seriously ill (e.g. cancer) and is only suffering it is not something anyone should consider and even than they should see to that they won't get any family members to help them knowing or unknowingly, as the feeling of having been an influence on the death of someone beloved is quite destructive.

I wouldn't forcefully prevent someone from committing suicide, but I wouldn't just let them go through with it without trying to talk to them first (this applies only to people I'm not completely apathetic to). I say fuck the concept of sin and that there's nothing inherently wrong or immoral about suicide. Becoming "an hero" is just another by-product of life.
Funny how people justify themselves(and the hardship of life) by calling the people losers, quitters, pathetic, and the usual disparaging comments. You fuckers are amusing.

I'd have to agree with Rbz. Everyone claims suicide is a sin, yet they're the first people to call those people losers, weak, lame, etc despite the fact that right on the 10 commandments it says [size=13]Thou Shalt Not Judge.[/h]
Start confessing.

That part doesn't bother me so much. Wrath is one of the Seven Deadly Sins, and the worst incarnation of wrath is suicide. They can believe that until they turn blue in the face. What bothers me though is how many of those people are hypocrites. I seem to remember a lot of Christians killing themselves because they believed the end was near during the Y2K scare. How in the world did they plan on going to Heaven?

Exodus 20:2-17:
"2 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery;
3 Do not have any other gods before me.
4 You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me,
6 but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments.
7 You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name.
8 Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.
9 For six days you shall labour and do all your work.
10 But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns.
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and consecrated it.
12 Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
13 You shall not murder.
14 You shall not commit adultery.
15 You shall not steal.
16 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
17 You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."
I never see anything about thou shalt not judge. Here are some other verses relating to the 10 commandments.

There's also this:
The fifth commandment forbids suicide and the mercy killing of those who are dying, even to eliminate suffering. The ordinary care of those facing an imminent death may not morally be withheld, according to the Church. "Ordinary care" refers to food, water and pain relief, and does not include "extraordinary care", which refers to the use of respirators or feeding tubes that are considered discretionary. Allowing a terminally ill person to die, using painkillers that may shorten their life, or refusing extraordinary treatment to the terminally ill such as chemotherapy or radiation, are considered morally acceptable and not a violation of the fifth commandment.
So bringing in the commandments works against your argument
EDIT: this is kinda funny since I'm posting the commandments on a porn site and masturbating and porn are both sins :X
"Masturbation is considered sinful for the same reasons as lust, but is a step above lust in that it involves a physical act instead of a mental one."
"Pornography ranks higher because it is considered a perversion of the sexual act that is intended for distribution to third parties for viewing."

Do you believe that if someone is in so much pain that it hurts to live, that it's okay to end it. Or is it wrong even if your life causes more pain to yourself and others than ending it would. I appologize if this is a repost. I searched and couldn't find a similar topic. No, if it hurts to live i do not believe it is wrong.
