I just wish the govt. learns How to prioritize and how to do their jobs right...Don't hold your breath. Many people wish for this kind of thing in other countries besides the Philippines. Now tell me, how many countries actually responded to their wishes? Not many as far as I know.

Isn't this just a stunt because elections are around the corner? Either way, most Filipino politicians are narrow-minded, stubborn fools who believe only in their well-being. I can't wait for their generation to die off.

Yes, but most of the time the next generation ends up somewhat more open-minded than the last True the cycle may never end, but somehow our situation ends up better than the last. Remember when people used to ban books? They sometimes do that(do they?) but what I clearly mean was back in the beginning and advent of books where people feared the meaning and purpose of books.

Very true. Though books were gradually accepted as people understood that you can use them for educational and religional purposes(ie the bible) But as you ahould have already realized, corruption is a constant. Look at all of the various governments and organizations throughout history as proof. It can be said that corruption is just a result of human greed. The want of a better position in life will always be inside people's hearts be it today, yesterday, or tomorrow. So just because people become open minded, that doesn't mean that corruption will cease to exist.
..Then again, this could just be my cynical side talking...

No I believe you, corruption will never cease to exist. Especially in the Philippines, where you can pay the cops and the kids on the street can be your assassins. Seriously.

I'm honestly not to sure about this topic in philippine politics. Can anyone tell me if they ban books there as well?

Though that changes the topic from corruption to worrying about your general welfare (at least in the case of the kids). Though the true answer that resonates with my beliefs is that they assassinate people for the thrill of it along with the hefty pay(or any pay at all) that comes with it.

A thousand pesos (Twenty dollars) should be fine.
For the cash. Usually business men or politicians need someone taken out eventually..

Wow... though to repeat the earlier question before, do you think that they would kill someone for the thrill of it, or for the cash no matter how small it may be?

They kill people for the cash. Many street crimes in the Philippines were associated with mugging or theft. They'd kill for your cellphone.

It's a beautiful place if you know where to live.Yeah, and even in the most high-crime areas, if you know your space, you'll enjoy the place.

So what you guys are saying is that the crime rate (at least in some areas)is small enough to be ignored so that you could lead a more enjoyable life... or were you just describing scenery? And Polter, by knowing your own space you mean that you just use your own common sense on where to go and where not to go, right?

Got you. Now that I think about it, I never gave my opinion on the topic posted on the OP. I'm pretty sure that the government won't enforce the ban even if they make it official. If anything, you could always pay off the cops to look the other way if they find your secret stash!(hopeful naive thinking at work here)

As long as you know to hide your things, you won't get caught. Pirate vendors get raided every time but the next day, they will just show up again selling things almost as if nothing happened.

Actually when I made that post I had that scenario (in the setting of Japan) running in my head, though I wasn't (and still am not) 100% sure that this is also true for the philippines.

There are just some basic rules in order to avoid being targeted:
1)Don't wear too much jewelry, 1 accessory is enough or flaunt of your expensive electronics
2)Avoid wearing expensive clothes
3)Always check your pocket/bag (I keep my wallet a bit fat in pocket so i can tell if its not there)
4)Go in groups
btw going a little bit off topic XD, if you want lets make a philippine thread.

The country can't even permanently ban a game show host millionaire who technically killed people because of his promises like some prophet, humiliated & displayed inappropriate conduct towards lady contestants, ridicules his staff, sings like a drunk who lost his wife on the radio (speaking of his wife he allegedly beat her so she's filing for a annulment), cries like a moron on TV seeking sympathy to the general public after all the BS that he did, then he just desecrated the memorial service of the country's first lady president on national TV, so who the hell are they to tell us what we want for hidden entertainment, when "HE" could do whatever he wants on air? LIVE!!
Hey congress we got starving families, sinking ships, radar problems at the airport, 2010 electric power supply problems, election, gambling, drugs, pollution, graft and corruption, need I go on...?
And just to be a bit "fair" you kiddies out there, BE RESPONSIBLE HENTAI COLLECTORS!! Maybe some old fart's congressman/womans son got busted so the moron dad/mom got the idea to ban Hentai cause he ain't doin his f***ing job.
