Convincing people who doesn't believe in God are like convincing an idiot to stop being an idiot. To my fellow believers you are wasting your time with these lost souls, just state your point and opinion then walk away. The explanation is simple, they suck at life and succumb to loneliness that they closed themselves to any form of hope or salvation.Lol this is one insult post.
Let me add mine in then.
Religion is like a bowl of cereal: chock full of flakes, fruits and nuts.
Your the kind of religious person who is the idiot. You are stain to the real intellectuals who are religious.
If you need to make up a god to explain away your fear and ignorance then you fail at life. Go have fun with your hard on for god maybe you can get it doggy style from him.
Yeah, thats another reason why I fell out of christianity. It felt as though my reasons for believing in the faith were unjust and misguided. I shouldn't believe in God because I'm afraid of going to hell. That isn't faith, that's buying insurance. If god is real and almighty, then he would obviously see through my bullshit and smite me to hell anyway. So I might as well resign and live life by my own standards since the outcome wouldn't be any different. At least now I don't have to wake up so damn early for church.

Everybody can believe in their own personal God and people can join in in that thought. Its just that shit happens when somebody starts saying his "God" is the true one and disses the belief of everyone else.

I think that by choosing a religion, whatever it may be, is a statement that you believe the religion to be the one true religion. It helps nobody to insult people for exercising free will, and choosing a different path.

Why can't we just be good for goodness' sake? I dun get it.One of the reasons people choose a religion is to define "good". It lays down a series of rules to judge your actions. Otherwise, you act in a way you feel is "good", which may hurt others to your personal benefit, which is "good" for you, but "evil" for others. It also keeps you from bending your moral code, as a "Higher, better, more perfect being" gives you the way you should live your life. Well, in theory anyways.

Humans -> social animals -> successful when cooperative -> immoral and antisocial behavior therefore detrimental -> self preservation
We empathize with other humans because it's advantageous, i.e. this is why we act "good". Religion doesn't necessarily fit into the equation.

Religion doesn't really fit. It's just a grouping of people with the same view of God, thus setting their own code of morality that fits their view of God. Mayans saw God as a person who wants human sacrifices, thus it is good. Christians view God as a savior and helpful being, thus saving and helping others is good (but not all christians follow that). Its a way to group themselves to see who to cooperate with, specifically somebody of the same group.

now i know why i still slightly believe in God,
It's because i want to reincarnate,or have a second life,or something.

Even though I'm a practicing Christian.. I usually doubt if god is real.. for any matter, is any of what those religions say is real? I even doubt hell and everything. I'm more of a scientific person, and you all know that religion and science DON'T MIX.
note: I'm planning to go atheist.

Quoting Galileo:
"Science and Mathematics are the languages in which God has written the universe."
Science and God (not religion) do mix. Its just that people are usually content already with science and doesn't bother with higher reason or morals.
Just saying...

TAA explains it best:
Spoiler:
Unless that person denies science like those brainless creationists.

Aww.. Rbz just stopped posting in the middle of the argument. :[ His posts made me lol.
The posts got longer and the discussion got boring. Too many tl;dr posts with no action = me ignoring the thread. I saw venveng provided some comedy relief with his muslim style death threats. Glad I could entertain though.

You entertained and increased my knowledge. When points are introduced in a funny and interesting way, it keeps me paying attention.
Btw, you posted something about TAA a while ago, and I hadn't heard of him before. Now, I love that guy because he uses logic in simply amazing ways. :]

I personally think the "amazing" atheist is one of the reasons people dislike atheists; he's too obnoxious and full of himself.

i believe that god exist but not in a form of a living being which since science pertains to things that require food/water, air, shelter, (clothing,) organs/ organ systems, cells, tissues, a type of reproduction, a habitat, trees/ plants, movement.
so what is he ?? well if asking me i view him in human figure yet doesn't need science theory to be there...like ghost?? nah ghost are only supernatural believes that we think to be part of us (might not/ do exist) but most people confuse it to be the same as what god's are...to me god knows everything that exist from the 1st place to the ending from atom to atom to all things that exist in this planet to the outside galaxies and space matter..life of life from bacteria to you, he knows past and present and to when that thing or you is destroyed He can travel time to time... yet does not attach em self to living... only once and that was Jesus.. or maybe he will be back.. since he can travel time to time in just a blink of an eye.. maybe his fixing something...yet we the humans ^^ can only live such a short time(like .oooo0o0oo9sec or more) on the whole evolution of human, so we can only see whats in front of us, thats why we don't know and cant prove it
lol i guess that was too much for people

From my experiences, I've all but stopped believing in a 'god', nor do I worship anything/one. I believe in myself and what I am capable of, I know what I can do how I can do it, If I don't know it I learn it, if I can't do it, I figure out how, ect.
If there was a single god, why did they create us like this.. especially if its in their own image? Really is the god a war loving, masochistic, greedy for more power, generally insane god? That's what I see in many people of today, so in respect the god they may or may not worship is the same way.
Sure we have people who are good, but sooner or later they get stepped on by those taking advantage of said goodness just because they can.
---
I'm not saying it's bad or stupid to have a religion, however having a religion just so you can blame whatever higher power you worship for your problems or your successes kind of defeats the purpose of understanding yourself and what you've done.
Pardon for my small rant!

am so on the this topic that's why i want to reply to this thing
yeah my own thinking,
well if we says god make us perfect in our view, which is to be nothing but a robot that is program on the right way/ perfect way, yet no freedom on their own, then theres no war no killing no happiness/sadness and stuff..well i don't think that god is a supper programmer that lives in a supper high tech world and gave us feelings, i mean god gave us freedom to think of our own yet he came down and said to be back well on that book. ^^.. to do an unusual thing,.. in our own beliefs like rebirth or destruction. maybe god gave us too much freedom, that you and those people in this site can feel our own words, have our own thoughts to make the right decision and wrong ones...but then he bothers em self to come here to reform change everything. yeah we are not perfect but were but we are
unique that's why he/she was bothered to come and do stuff yet she/he didn't eradicate us like dinosaurs.
well its just an opinion "humans gut their own opinions"
