The True God

From my experiences, I've all but stopped believing in a 'god', nor do I worship anything/one. I believe in myself and what I am capable of, I know what I can do how I can do it, If I don't know it I learn it, if I can't do it, I figure out how, ect.If there was a single god, why did they create us like this.. especially if its in their own image? Really is the god a war loving, masochistic, greedy for more power, generally insane god? That's what I see in many people of today, so in respect the god they may or may not worship is the same way.
Sure we have people who are good, but sooner or later they get stepped on by those taking advantage of said goodness just because they can.
---
I'm not saying it's bad or stupid to have a religion, however having a religion just so you can blame whatever higher power you worship for your problems or your successes kind of defeats the purpose of understanding yourself and what you've done.
Pardon for my small rant!
Well said,man,well said.
Humans better find out immortality soon.

Unless that person denies science like those brainless creationists.
As far as I'm concerned, Science need some direction for it to be useful. Look at Galileo and Isaac Newton. The reason Galileo studied the heavens in search of a higher being, bringing us Astronomy (not Astrology). Isaac Newton was searching for an unseen force that binds us all, thus Gravity and the rest of the Law of Physics.
And yes, though I am a practicing Christian and places myself in the middle of the Creationist/Evolutionist war, I think that most Creationists are denying Science and Logic, a gift of God in which is to be used. They say they fight for God, but not use Logic, thus blaspheming God for being a brainless idiot.
YEY NEW BEASTIE GIRLS!!!

Please, keep the ammo coming so that I can help you shoot yourself in the foot.

The concept of God is not made for religion, but religion is made for God is totally forgotten nowadays. "Pious" people preach that God is Omniscient (that part is basically true) and with that, due to our likeness with God, we are the most intelligent and logical beings created (not sure with that). I find it funny that many people who openly preach this don't practice what they preach.
As for the ammo, I'll do with pleasure, my good sir.

God is Omniscient (that part is basically true)Forgetting the fact that you're it presupposes the existence of god, how would you know that to be true? Another mark on the "blasphemed god" board for you. How many before you're eligible for hell? Oh, I forget, christians have a get out of hell free forgiveness card.

If your point being that if we are similar to God (in which we are imperfect, thus God is imperfect, canceling his omniscience), then may I point out that WE are based on the image of God, NOT that we are images of God.
We may never attain the level of God, and in case we may, the reality of God moves farther away. It is similar to numbers and infinity; you start to reach a number you once cannot comprehend in the past, but as that number increases, the unreachable goal of infinity just moves farther away.
In a sense, that is also a good explanation on how God can lead Science; we crawl slowly to the level of what we believed was only for God, but we realize that there are still more to accomplish.
I also cannot see in what level I have blasphemed God, for I practice my god-given gift of logic, and not a single word of mine is a false testimony of God.

Oh, I forget, christians have a get out of hell free forgiveness card.We called that "Indulgences" and we killed the bastards who did that years ago. Too bad it seems some sects start to revive it, using another name to call it in order not to scare people away.
Btw, I may be a practicing Christian, but I believe in a universal God, where every culture got their concepts of God. I also believe in Shankyshanks' "everywhere" God which exist in every form of matter and energy.

I didn't quite get your question. Please reinstate your point before I waste my coins...

You said the omniscience was basically true. I asked you how do you know that? How do you know that to be the truth?
Also, do you admit that the bible, which is the basis for christianity, imperfect? It was written by man and it does have a shitload of contradictions, right (I'll gladly link you o them)? If you agree that the bible is filled with imperfect testimony of god bullshit, then your basis for your religion is bullshit. You say that "not a single word of mine is a false testimony of God" yet you only know about god through the bible. How could you possibly know what you say is what god actually wants from us or what he really is?

Well, I said God is infinite, something unreachable. Omniscience means all knowing, yet the our basis of knowledge is only what our mind can comprehend. In that sense, if the existence of God is greater than ours, it might as well mean he already knows everything in our capacity to know and beyond.
I also said that I believe in shankyshank's "everything" God, a single entity but a being of existence itself. If everything composes of God, then I can suppose he is omniscient.
Also, I believe that the bible consists of mixed truths and exaggerated stories. A reason for this is because the people of the time cannot comprehend what they are seeing and can only describe it using objects and creatures they know. You can treat the bible as a story book with a moral lesson, or you can see it as a rule book. But to limit one self to only that book means limiting knowledge and wisdom, for the said text is based on the understanding of the people on those ancient times, and it is safe to say that our understanding has increased much from then.
And as I have also said, I'm a practicing Christian (mainly due because I was born in a christian family and has Christian for a name) but I believe in a universal God not bound by biblical standards, or at any religious standard at that.
Some people see God as a being to worship, some as an object of blame, some as a friend or savior. Personally, I view him as a goal we can never reach. He doesn't grade us according to how good we were, nor desire for us to offer gifts to him. A usually said, God moves in mysterious ways, and one cannot comprehend his entire being. I do good because I brings good things for me, and I believe in God in order to improve myself.
PS: Just post your reply and I'll answer tomorrow. Its 3am here in my place and I need to sleep soon.

Yea, I think I've seen enough. Just want to remind you that since you call yourself a christian and I'm assuming you believe in hell, then you have just as good a chance of going to hell as I do. You'll probably pull something out of your ass to counter that, but think about it, if there is a god who wants us to follow specific rules in order to not go to hell, and seeing as your beliefs are all over the place, you're fucked.

Well, I believe Hell is a state of Life (feelin good=heaven /craphole-existence=hell) but if in case it is a place we go to in the afterlife, I don't mind going there if I deserve to go there. That's really how it is, right? You get what you deserve. And if I deserve it, then COME AND GET ME, SATAN!
Need to smoke before I sleep... All this typing got me sore. Oyasumi...

I agree with this. I don't share the view of hell and heaven being feelings, but I do know that I am very imperfect, and very often sin (it's just too much fun).
