[Locked] vegetarians are the real murderers?

vegetarians have always criticized people like me who love a good steak and recently one of them stopped me (in a fuckin steak house) and told me i shouldn't murder animals. However after giving it some thought i realized aren't they eating plants? That means that they are killing the only living things on earth that does not kill something else to survive...(and i am the murder i don't think so what about you guys? and yes i realize there are always exceptions to the rules)

Unfortunately yes. There is not enough vegetable and fruit to feet 6 billion poeple, apart from this it would be too expensive.

And to be honest, EdwardRoss, your statement is the stupidest and the most ridiculous argument against vegetarians :roll: I do hear that quite often, and it's as stupid as the argument "you kill my food by eating their food" and all that s**t.

I'd like to be a vegetarian and I've tried to be one but since no one in my family is a vegetarian, it was nearly impossible to go ahead with that. it's really really difficult, when everyone around you eats meat.

I've tried and I failed. Unfortunately.

Animals do feel pain such as we do and they suffer such as we do. I do feel pity for them and somehow I hate myself for eating meat. I'll try to be a vegetarian again or at least to eat less meat, when I live in my own flat with my girlfriend, without that many poeple around me eating meat.

Yeah, maybe killig animals is necessary, but don't say that so cold blooded for they are beings like me and you.

I doesn't bother me when people eat meat and I'm a vegetarian. I might make fun of people saying they might get mad cow disease or whatnot but I'm really not serious about it, but saying that vegetarians are murderers?

For one, definition murder really only pertains to a human killing another human. Even if you still consider it a ruthless killing, plants do not have conciousness like humans or animals, so I think your argument is invalid...

I find it kinda funny people trying to justify their actions. Animals have life, plants have life. They're both taken away just to satisfy your stomachs.

its not that easy I'm afraid. test show that plants in a positive environment do better than plants in a negative environment given the same soil water and sun light. therefor plants have some emotional quality's. ( no i did not say they had actual emotions) also how can you argue consciousness? Being consciousness means your more important then other life forms? No matter how you look at you are just as guilty as me. we are all harbingers of death.

Yep you're right, it's true. So what? Would you suggest to eat meat instead of plants, for vegetarians kill the poor plants?

Animals have to eat plants to survive, so either way you choose, you kill plants ;) If u eat animals = you kill plants. If you eat plants = you kill plants.

please read the previous post. but also i think you misunderstand my argument. I do not hate or even dislike vegetarians but i do not like the close minded nature in which i am received by them i do not like people trying to force theirs values on my.

its survival of the fittest thats how its always been ands thats who its going to stay. humans may be able to use reason but we are animals none the less

I just can't find the sentence that shows that I'm calling carnivors guilty... I know it's a way of life, even nature does it.

As for the plants doing better in a better environment:
You can make that argument for ANYTHING even including inanimate objects. A computer will do better in a less humid environment. Cars will do better with better oil and gas. etc. So that argument is invalid.

You and I have a different opinion on life I suppose. If something doesn't have consiousness, whether it lives or not, I really don't have a problem of destroying it. Don't take this in a wrong way that I'm all for deforestation and environmental hazards. By all means, no. But, I really don't think taking a life of a concious animal or human versus taking a life of a plant without a concious is completely different and killing plants is okay in my books. It seems you also mistook my words saying I feel suporior to any life-form but no just life-forms without thought.

But you cannot compare animals with plants. Do plants have any nerves to feel pain? Do they have a brain to think? to have emotions? No, they don't, but animals do.

And there are too many slaughterhouses out there where animals live under horrible circumstances, and where they have to suffer pain their entire life just to get killed.

Sometimes when they want to rear laying hens it happens that little roosters hatch out of the egg. Do you know what they do to them?

Don't tell me plants would feel the same feelings as the little roosters do in this video, before they get killed. Feelings such as fear and pain.

Life is life when you take one don't mask it in ideological nobility. there is no difference when you kill. You can say because it is unconscious its ok but i imagine the pain of dying does not elude anyone. you really need to ask is it ok because its unconscious or is it ok because you can't hear it scream.

The language doesn't matter (didn't find any other video), you would even understand it without any sound. they get killed, just because they're roosters. and they feel fear, thats something plants don't do. in this case i still think you cannot compare plants with animals ... as long as you cannot prove that plants have a concious or any emotions

I was going to make that same argument, but there are plants that can "feel" and I was afraid he wouldn't understand pain and reflexive nerves... The thing is Ross, you are contradicting yourself of forcing your opinion on others while being close minded. I really never said anyone was masking it in ideological nobility. It's life. I just think killing a concious being and unconcious life is completely different.

I'm a vegetarian. I don't force my ideals on others. To me, meat tastes like shit, and the smell, if strong enough, makes me gag. I have eaten meat a few times before, and I hate the texture. The killing of another animal to live isn't exactly right, but I won't tell you not to. Enjoy your steak, I don't really care.
