Deus Ex: Human Revolution

I hope that it's not just me, but the golden outline on "objects of interest" pisses me off. It seems as if Eidos is going out of its way to dumb things down for us retards.
The image I saw on encyclopedia dramatica is looking pretty accurate right now.

It looks rather too generic, and the graphic is rather dated. There is too much orange tint in it, I would say.
It might be fun, but definitely not groundbreaking. I was rather disappointed with the gameplay videos, especially the 'multipath gameplay. The 'alternate' pathways are just really forced; they just mixed Splinter Cell with some first person shooting.

Spoiler:
EDIT:
With this huge marketing campaign they're doing, they better give us a game that lives up to the epicness that was the first game.

I recently downloaded the incomplete beta to give it a spin and was thoroughly impressed with the game. The visuals are great and the gameplay is slick.
I played the beta through on the second hardest difficulty and to be honest it's not hard especially if you go the stealth route, you can quite literally clear a room without killing anyone by using take downs and the two stealth weapons at your disposal (Taser and dart gun).
Though I do have little issue and that has to do with the overuse of pre-rendered cut scenes.

The way they point out the different play styles and ways of going about a map seems to inadvertently point out how much choice you don't have. I keep seeing their videos and I sense the implication that when playing in a certain style (Stealth, Social, Hacking, or Combat), one should stick to it. Maybe it's just me.

It appears as if the health regen will not be an augmentation like it was in the first game, which is my first disappointment. My second is the annoying highlighting. Next, I dislike that I have to be shown where to go. The first game never held my hand like that. (There's also a fucking mini map on the bottom left in addition to the . Fuck this shit.) Brief me, give me some notes and/or images, and I'll be on my fucking way. I can tolerate the graphics, but the cinematic kills just look like they interrupt gameplay. I'm really hoping some augmentations just can't be gotten near the beginning of the game because having the invisibility and "see through walls" augmentations too early seems like it would just make the game a cake walk. Also, the character models look stiff when they move.
Other than those complaints, I think this is going to be fun shit. I like the hacking and gadgets. It just helps me get immersed in the game when I can work with computers. (PC version of original Deus Ex did this.) I also just love information gathering, so the e-mail shit is awesome to me. I'll be getting this fucker when it comes out, if only because I hated Invisible War so much that anything close to the original Deus Ex game would do it for me.

number 1 french video game website jeuxvideo.com gave Deus Ex: HR the big score of 17/20 for the pc and 18/20 for the ps3 ver. Graphics seem to be better on the consoles.

IT'S SO GOOD. It's just so beautiful that Invisible War seems like a bad nightmare. This game is fucking worthy of the DX title. This is Deus Ex 2 as far as I'm concerned. I'll be more detailed in what I think of it after I beat this bitch. It fucking took me between 2 to 3 hours to go through the first mission, what with all the exploring, hacking, reading, stealth and knock the fuck out-ing I've been doing.

I've actually been on the fence for this game for quite a while. I might pick it up when I get the chance.

Well, I just finished it and I (pulls out riot shield... don't ask) am disappointed with it. Many reasons why, so I think I'll keep it short. Though combat is offered for every situation, the game makes you focus on completing your objective in the quietest or least confrontational manner. Hell, even IW allowed you to complete your objective in the way you preferred with very little issue. Look if I'm an augmented bad ass, I don't want to be shot three damn times and die. I want to be able to jump in through a window and scream "Time for some Mother-F**king Democracy" and not die instantly from tripping over a box (exaggeration, I know, but still accurate). The energy cell system also caused some distress. Granted they give you a regenerating single bar, but when I have to decide whether or not to use Burst through a wall and snap a neck at the cost of a candy bar (I wish real life was like that...) or to jump through a window and snap a neck, I will be upset.

I have rented out the game for my Xbox 360 today, and I have got to say that I'm pretty impressed with it so far.
I was really on the fence of getting this game or not, but I think I will.
Now, the decision to either get it for my Xbox 360 or for my PC...
I'm leaning more to my PC since it's cheaper and there's a deal on it right now if I buy it at a local store.

Yea, you die quickly, but that's what the cover system is for (and dermal plating). Use and abuse it. This game actually adds complexity to a firefight, where enemies take cover, and if you're unlucky, flank you. Not like in the other two games where enemies never take cover and you have to crouch behind a box or run around like a tard just to avoid being shot. I've seen interviews with the developers and they pretty much say you have to be tactical and use anything you can to your advantage. I'm also pretty sure that if you tried to run and gun through Invisible War, you'd be very dead.

Look, I still fully upgraded dermal plating but it helps out to such a minor extent that it was essentially negligible. Now, the other two deus ex games allowed you to at least hold you ground when fighting MOST enemies, the only exceptions being when you were obviously outgunned by augmented soldiers and certain robots (Deus Ex) or elite faction soldiers and the large robots (IW). My problem is that even for the most basic units, you will take a few hits (about 4-5) and die. Regardless of the cover system, you should not be able to die that quickly in a game that essentially allows you to play through how you want.

My point was that you're incorrect in stating that the game tries to make you avoid confrontation. When shit hits the fan, one just has to be aware of their surroundings, use the cover system, and attack when not being shot at. I agree that there is a run and gun limitation, but this is just what combat in this Deus Ex entails.
Also, are you playing on "Give Me Deus Ex" mode? I chose that because this is what I bought the fucking game for. The very first two enemies killed me twice before I got used to properly using the cover mechanic. Maybe you're getting killed so quickly because you happen to be playing on hard mode.

Energy replenishing supplies are plentiful and there are augs that you can focus on to improve direct combat performance ie. Dermal plating.
If you think Dx:HR is harsh try the original Dx on the hardest setting which has localised damage and most weapons being able to kill you almost instantly.
I've found combat dead easy even on the hardest possible setting and I'm a stealth build without dermal plating, the fact there is so much cover makes it much easier to fight groups of enemies.
Edit: Just read your other response what difficulty are you playing on? I know you die fast on hard but you shouldn't be dying that fast on easy/medium. The original Dx you died pretty damn fast on hardest.

I go to this game with the thought that if Solid Snake didn't need stealth augs (ignoring the fourth game), neither do I. I don't leave an area until I've milked it for all the XP possible (i.e., I hack everything even if I have the code and I knock everybody out). Later in the game I got the stealth shit because there's nothing else that was worth getting (it's also fun to use). I find that the hacking augs are the most valuable.
