Guild Wars 2

Eh never really played GW but tried it a few times. Some RL friends and I and WC3 friends plan on getting it once it comes out. It's gonna come out in '08 Q3-4? That will give me enough time to buy a new computer. What do ya think? Are the other GWs good? I'd prefer a new RPG then WoW -_-"

I played guild wars on my friends comp at one point. It seems pretty good but probably gets old fairly quick. I would probably pick it up for $20 if it didn't require you to play online. Even with single player you need to go online because the towns are all online. I know it isn't a big deal to be online, with cable internet my computer is online all the time, but I still don't like the idea, what if I wanna play it when it's ten years old and they decided to stop hosting it?
But I guess thats not something most people are concerned about. It's a good game I think, just might get old. If you know someone else that has it, try playing for a few hours to see if you think you'll get sick of it in the long run

Yeah, I'll get it. I've gotten every standalone game and the expansion pack for GW already. Haven't gotten very far in GWEN yet because I'm waiting for two of my guildmates to buy it, so we can play it through together.
Lurking: Theorectically, it should stay up as long as the company is hosting other games. From what I remember, GW is free because it leeches off the servers from other games. They also said that they'd keep the game running after GW2 came out, but only time will tell for how long.

Sometimes it makes me wonder what if I wanna play WC ten years from now they"ll probably stop hosting it. My friend got GW1 I'll try that plus I hear they're gonna boost the level cap ftw.

I played GW a long time, then nightfall was released and I quit because my necromancer sucked when they realsed the new necro spells that wIt was really imbalanced imo. older expenasions should be able to patch in newer skills >>

I only got guild wars when it first came out and the first expansion. I beat both, but it wasn't too fun... so I never got any other expansions after that.
The problem with the guildwars was... finding a team. Half your day would pass by trying to get into a party with a healer or trying to get a healer for your party. Not fun...

Artbook arrived today. Pretty nice, concept art with a brief description of what the pieces are describing.

I'm a long-time player of GW (ever since they released it in '05) but I've been going on and off the game every now and then (almost did everything except for PvP stuff) but I might not get GW2. I heard that FFXIV is coming out next year whereas GW2 doesn't even have a release date. GW is a good game but it has very little replay value, as everything gets repetitive once you beat the campaigns and the expansion at least twice. By doing this, you either get into PvP or, if you don't like PvP (like me), you have to rely on farming or helping out guildies to have fun in the game.

Like Nobosaki said. Not much replay value.
