X-Factor has only five legitimate uses I find.
The first is extending a combo to kill two characters. If you catch an assist and are comboing on the point character, spend that X-Factor to kill them both, if you can't DHC.
The second is using it for your last character to avoid chip damage.
The third is comboing with your last character and getting that kill.
The fourth is for keeping your last character safe after whiffing a hyper or something.
The fifth and last is recovering red life from your characters if that red life happens to be a substantial amount.
Outside that, it's generally stupid because I just run away from people using X-Factor outside the combos.
And even if Sentinel only have 905,000 health, I think he'll still be used a lot for his high damage output. He just won't be that huge tank he used to be, sadly.
Also, more on that patch.

the most basic function of xf increases atk/speed
keep in mind that chip damage will fuck you up (shinkuu hadouken, legion arrow, hailstorm, proton cannon, bullets, plasma beam, etc.) - if someone xf's from full screen and you're at less than half life, it's a poential kill if they've got meter, and not all characters need it
speed boost can be crazy as well on pressure with characters who are already fast (x23, morrigan, jill) and for those who have 8-way airdashes, those trijumps became a lot scarier

I fail to see why nerfing Sentinel's health is a good thing. He still has 900k health (still above average), and smart players won't take much damage. All it will do is make the scrubs go find the next "sentinel" character to complain about. If they wanted to do something by nerfing him, I'd have preferred to see chip damage removed from his lasers, and his damage toned down. He gets 220% damage with level 3 x-factor, take care of that first.

One thing at a time dood...
When you fix something, you do it a little at a time yeah? If you change him too much and he becomes either too weak or is still OP, you won't know what you did to cause that. Was it because of the removal of chip damage, because of the lower HP, slowing is attacks - you have to see how these thing effect the gameplay before you start completely changing things.

Personally, I thought Sentinel was fine as is. But removing some health isn't really a detriment considering his tools and damage output. If they want to do something, do it right, is all. All it does is make things easier on casual players, it doesn't allow them to learn and better their game. Is it better to nerf something because people don't know how to block or develop strategies, or is it better to learn how to beat them? I understand that it makes things more appealing to a larger base, which is fine, but patches like this can be a very slippery slope. If enough people complain about the next "overpowered" character, will they too get a nerf? This patch shouldn't even have been done so soon, the game has only been out for a month, there isn't even an established metagame yet. At least give it some time.

making the character with the biggest hitbox in the game into a glass cannon is a pretty stupid idea
the fact that capcom nerfed him after listening to people crying about it is absolutely ridiculous

I'm sad about this nerf too, I love using sentinel as my combo guinea pig for his huge hit box...

I see a Phoenix nerf coming in the future...I mean if capcom is listening to the whining masses then it seems pretty unavoidable.

I just want her speed nerfed when she turns dark pheonix. anything else can remain untouched for all I care... or I guess a teensy bit in the damage section as well...

Drag her into the fight and savagely pummel her before your opponent can gain 5 Hypercombo meters. She already has the lowest health of the entire roster, making the beating go by that much faster. All you have to worry about is an opponent that actually knows how to effectively use her keep away attacks. Thankfully, I haven't found any.
Btw, I tried taking on the Arcade mode on the highest difficulty. Got to stage 3 before I got stuck and gave up. I had a team of Deadpool, Iron Man, and Wolverine. The CPU had Amaterasu, Arthur, and Phoenix. I never realized just how brutal Amaterasu could be until I've had my ass kicked soo hard that by the time I finally took her out, the CPU managed to get Dark Phoenix in and completely fuck me over.

OMG they play much better than the stronger players that I met. All of their attacks flow smoothly and they can use all characters efficiently. and I learn to hate spider-man's Web shot there... lol
About the patch, I'm only happy that they killed some infinites. Never had a problem with Sentinel.

Yeah, I was trying to get the achievement too. It was only then that I realized that Spencer was the Captain Falcon of the game. That punch of his packs some serious damage.

Not to mention that they never fail to grab and throw you away whenever you feel like diving in.

Ah, I'm happy to see that my second character (in my main team) is appreciated not just by me :D
Yeah, that guy does some serious damage; the most basic of combos in the game and I'm already dealing more damage than my Dante xD.
...this combo isn't easy... but I'm practicing it :D
