PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

Remember the Wii game "Super Smash Brothers Brawl" where nintendo exclusives battle it out? Well seems like Playstation is doing the same. Now what really catches my attentions is Sweettooth, Level maps, and the similarities look between this and Super Smash Brothers Brawl. This game does indeed look pretty badass. Not great at descriptions, so heres a video.

I'm just hoping to see Cole MacGrath from Infamous and probably a Disgaea character.

This game looks fantastic. Unfortunately it's getting a-lot of hate from the Smash community simply because it looks too much like Smash. Which I disapprove of entirely. We should be welcoming this game with open arms, not bashing it because it looks like Smash. If anything it's nothing like Smash.

But in this game there's massive distinctions.
Some maps are completely CLOSED environments.
Stamina system.
Super meter system(?)


I mean, if we were to have complainers about one fighting game possessing similar elements of another; wouldn't it be accurate to say EVERY 2D Side-scrolling fighting game was a 'rip-off' of Street Fighter? I mean every fighting game uses the same concept of Street Fighter, just a different cast of characters correct?

It's truly unfortunate that people that don't analyze things exist like this. I for one can't wait to get my hands on this new party game on PS3. HD option? Hell yeah.

Dont bother reason with Nintendo(n't) die hard fanboys. Its best if you tell them that Zelda and mario sucks and Zelda is the Blonde guy with a sword. That pisses em off and youre in hours of fun rage. Or tell them to tell you the timeline of Zelda and end the words by Did you say something.

Back to topic.

But the idea itself is nice. Sweetthooth anyone? Cloud and Sephiroth make apperance i think. Nathan Drake?. Ratchet and Clank? I wonder if Blue Bomber makes apperance. I want that Zero was there though (beam sabre).

But i wonder if Microsoft made their own version of it? Master Chief? Bill Gates with his money attacks XD?

Well here's another thing. People are often confused on the characters they can request. As far as I'm concerned they SHOULD BE from --

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing you. You're also free to request who ever you'd like in any game. But a-lot of character requests have been made, most of them not from SCE, and it's really bumming me out people don't know what Sony's released. Google, my friends.

If it's on the "Owned franchises and properties" list, then there's a good chance you're request has a much better chance of making the list than some others. I.E. Master Chief(Who I'd actually like to see in this mash-up. They had snake in Smash, so we'll never know who makes cast until it comes out).

I've seen some pretty unrealistic character requests. Not in any particular order, just what comes to memory.

I didnt want Master Chief in Sonys game, but it would be nice. I mainly intrested if Microsoft makes their version of this.

But i think there will be character DLCs.

Ok you'd have to be blind or in serious denial to not see how this game looks like Smash. But that aside I the game does like fantastic with a alot of differences that make this game look like a different kind of fun then what Smash has. Plus I've been want Playstation to do something like this for years, happy to see its finally happening. And hell even if it was just like Smash the characters only would make me buy it, I mean come on Kratos and Sweettooth.

I don't care much for any of the Smash Bros games, and seeing as how this is pretty much a clone it doesn't look to be any more interesting than those.

Maybe they'll get it right, we'll see.

Well.. this makes me love my PS3 a little bit more. I agree, the concept is based off of Smash Bros. But I wont completely bash it for that reason nor hate it... It's like hating BF because CoD came out first and copies it etc..

Smash Bros was fun, but I got tired of seeing to many Mario games nowadays~ so I'm currently staying away from Nintendo games.


It would be fun if Xbox will also stick with the Smash Bro fighting trend~ Halo and Gears of War crossover lol... Crossover FPS is good too~ 〜(￣▽￣〜)

Needs to have Kevin Butler in it since that's the only character I can think of when it comes to Sony now, even if they do own a large variety of IPs. Otherwise, I am unhyped since the Smash bandwagon train left a while ago.

Smash Bros practically made itself into it's own sub-genre of fighting.

There are games that have copied some of it's formula like that one cartoon network game and the Shonen Jump game.

If Sony puts something like Cloud, it would be an instant buy from a lot of people. Personally, I don't think this game would be very good, and the only thing it would have over SMBB is better online.

(funny they didn't wait till E3, maybe because they fear if they did people would compare even more the SBM, a game Nintendo has already announced they're working on for 2 consoles)

i really don't care how close it is to super smash, it looks like a good game so I'm going to get it regardless, also i find these console wars retarded, most of the greatest games in the world used the idea of others to make their game, but that didn't make a bad game or keep people from buying it

Some people just find it shameful that people are trying to cash in on trends others have set.(PS Move, analog stick, etc. etc.)

While I agree it does look like SSB, it doesn't make it a terrible game, but we'll just have to wait and see when it's released. While the gameplay is turning me off a bit, I really do like all these characters and it'd be cool for one of those "Bring over friends and play together" type meetings

Uhh, excuse that statement. That came out a little more ignorant and blunt than intended.

Obviously it's similar to Smash, but calling it Smash is an insult, to both this franchise and Smash. You wouldn't want to call Age of Empires, Cossacks, Starcraft or Warcraft.

I guess you can say it'd be comparing BlazBlue to Guilty Gear, or Capcom VS SNK 2, to King of Fighters. Extremely similar visual game-style and similar mechanics; but exceedingly distinct cast members play-style and metagame, and unique-to-the-game elements here and there that makes its own.

It's not like Nintendo owns exclusive rights to the template of a character mash-up game...do they? I mean, if they do I'll eat my shoes.

Sure it looks a lot like Smash, but its not like that sub-genre of fighting is exclusive to Nintendo. Although I won't be playing it, I'm sure there a tons of people excited that they now can play a Sony version of the same game. Though they added new mechanics and systems, they still hold true to some of the basic framework that makes it that "pick brawler" people can enjoy.

So.... When can I have crash bandicoot vs spyro?

  Little to no stage hazards

Let's hope they have killer online or else this game is going to suck. No amount of awesome 3rd party character can save it.




They made the sub-genre with a couple of games following suit. I doubt Nintendo would take any legal actions against Sony though. They'll just make a better game(hopefully).
