Starcraft I and II discussion thread - fav race?
What race do you like/play with?

I guess nydus canals no longer have a function as those worm things seem to do the transporting underground. Also with terran, you can mass move marines and other units as well, it's just that the Zerg has a better advantage due to sheer size in force that overwhelms the opponent. (mass 100 zerglings and 50 hydralisks... that would kill any base.)

Also, Protoss. They have went from a HP heavy race to a HP heavy race that can call ENTIRE ARMYS from one of them moveing Pylon ships. Bitchs don't know about my addation Pylons!
So now the terran play needs a good number of marines, a dash of firepower, and Air support. The AH/G-24 is going to be my new best unit and the TF-620 nomad look like a very good Scout/defenceive unit. Us terrans commanders have a lot to do.

Yea... those Terran vikings are going to wreck havoc on any type of army, being able to respond quickly to air and ground attacks, as well as having the ability to fly and avoid all ground obstacles... so different from goliaths. They're like hyrdalisks, but better, more HP and attack power, and more mobility. Hell, if I was Terran, I would base my attacks on siege tanks and vikings, with nomads and Thors as support. Hoho, microing just got harder or easier if you get my drift.
And replacing that high-tech unit that most people almost never invest in the arbiter, is the phase prism. Imagine, land one of those babies in the back of someone's base and let loose colossuses, zealots, immortals, stalkers, and probes to build makeshift photon cannons around the phase prism. That's like overkill.

The problem for us terran commanders who take losses really srsly. The protoss can hurrass us with only a few units and take them almost anywhere.(I think thats how it works, or It might only work for newly builnt units).

Protoss now in SC2 have more harassment abilities than before, but Terrans now have Reapers and Banshees; things on the battlefield won't be easy for either race. Reapers are probably the best rush unit next to the zerglings and banelings, though I'm not too sure how much tech is required to get a reaper.

Reaper has become my favorite unit. In other News yes us Terran Commanders are gonna have a hell of a time fending of the Protoss harassment. To stop said harassment we now have something called a Thor. Bitches WILL know about my Thor. The Thor when used with some protection will make a great unit. For me it'll have to be used with protection. Just like a Battler Crusier don't expect it to walk in and take names without back up. No one type of unit can win the battle if if your Zerg. I never liked the Zerg that's why I loved to kill the 7 vs 1 Epic Computer. That was a fun Map by any standards.

I loved and Starcraft and still play it with my friends every now and then. Looking forward to Starcraft 2, although that Mothership looks a little overpowered..

Anyways...I always liked the campaign and UMS games on Bnet...tried my hand at melee games...but even against a computer I just get too impatient and end up cheating and killing everything -_-
But I look foward to the new campaign that had better finish the story line(or end up with some epic expansion 2 years later that blows it all out of the water. And of course the map editor....*shudder* should be great ^_^

i notice noone has mentioned the new special atks the battle cruiser can use. have you seen the one where it like lasers the ground? infantry raper if i ever saw one. oh and the way they did addons now is just plain awsome.

@sora851: Battlecruisers are expensive and high tech, so they aren't a viable option unless it's a drawn-out battle, though I do say it's abilities have made it that much more fearsome and well-rounded.
@York: I got my zealots and immortals waiting for your reapers, hehe. Those immortals are going to be my favorite unit for knocking down entrances to bases, with the exception of warp rays and the mothership.

Well, the other thing to BC's is protecting the investment. BC's are expensive, not to mentiont all the resources one would go through to tech up to the BC and it's Yamato Gun and spread lasers. Maybe it's just me, but I've never once seen my friends go BCs, than often than not heavy metal and some other cheese tactics.
It is nice though to have BC's as backup, since their armor and HP is one of the highest of any units in the game, and it's attacks are powerful, not including yamato cannon and the spread laser.

well in sc2 tho the special weapon will be specific to the bc. as in you dont research it at a physics lab you go to each specific bc and research it there.

As much as I have an easier time with Protoss, and they are just cool looking and kickass, I can imagine myself having fun with the new Zerg units.

You guys got to remember that during the zerg revel trailer, it showed them, infesting barracks, and Battlecruisers. Thats a scary thought. Now infested terrans use there guns, so I will makesure to do a scorched earth to any bludings i leave behing if the zerg attack.

I play Zerg as my best race, and Protoss as my worst. I'm currently training in Terran. I think I like Zerg the best considering the fact that they don't use sheilds like protoss does, which makes for one thing less to upgrade. Also, my favorite strategy for zerg is two mob seige tanks with zerglings hydralisks and ultralisks by using the step-by-step approach with multiple defilers, along with Queens to get rid of medics, and Guardians for marines.

My favorite race has got to be Protoss, no question about it. I haven't played SC in awhile more preoccupied with other games, but SC will always have a place in my gaming list/heart.
I love watching old school rushes though and I was really intrigued how hardcore it was to see Terrain's SCV and some Marines rush this a guy playing Zerg and wiped him out in no more than 5 minutes. Not to mention this was a league in Korea, I wish I still had the video.
