Starcraft I and II discussion thread - fav race?

I need to watch some Starcraft replays more often. In the vid you posted, Sonofek, did you see the green Zerg's ramp blocking action by taking two hyrdras and morphing them to lurkers right on the ramp? God, I would have never thought of a strategy like that, even it cost me 50 minerals and 100 vespene per lurker if only to give me a slight advantage in battle.

David Kim in SCII videos so far has an all win record.

Yeah, it's a fairly common thing to do when you can, it can add crucial seconds it takes to move other forces to defend an expansion.

And yeah, David Kim is good, at least better than everyone else at Blizzard. I think I remember reading that he pretty much makes up the balance team for SCII, though I don't recall if that was a joke, or true. But he's probably the one they go to for most balance issues.


Pog, yeah, I'm watching WCG. Today should be better, since it's finally past the group stages. The last few days have been pretty weak, since a lot of the stage matches were the big three stomping all over foreigners. Were a few good games though, and I laughed when Yayba dropped from two games with Idra. Also a real shame about Pj, he was pretty close. :(

Going back, g-money, there's a ton of resources available out there if you want to watch more StarCraft, or follow the pro scene. The youtube video I posted was uploaded by an account that uploads almost every game that takes place in the pro scene. You could definitely spend a lot of time watching videos there, and probably learn a lot. Or there's Teamliquid.net, which is the largest foreign (non-Korean) StarCraft community, and probably one of the biggest overall.

They have a great resource there called TLPD, you enter a pro player's name in, and it will bring up all of his stats, including win/loss record. It will also generally have links to most of the games, that you can watch via youtube.

If you want some English commentary, then I recommend you look up CholeraSC on youtube. He does a bunch of English commentaries on replays/VODs of professional matches. Right now, though, he's covering the CSL, which is kinda like Proleague, but featuring US universities.

In sadder news, SC2 beta has been delayed to 2010. Looks like we're going to be waiting a while before the full release comes out.

There was originally a group that subbed a few events, but ultimately stopped, because the commentators talk too much, and it was impossible to time it. At least that's what I remember reading.

There was also the Gom league, which had English commentary. Sadly, due to some political bullshit, there won't be a season 4, but you can check out Gomtv.net for previous games.

I'm definitely going to check those out... when I'm more than 25% watching through my unwatched/unfinished anime.

Definitely. I'm beginning to really take a shine to what Blizzard is doing with SCII, and it's more than just a half-assed effort to gain more money. The Wings of Liberty campaign gives it a more Command & Conquer mission-esque feel to SC, which is exactly what it needs in terms of plot development, as the SCverse is pretty well built and developed like the Haloverse. The Agria mission sounds awesome.

All signs are pointing to the SCII beta starting up soon. My best guess would be around March, especially if they plan a 2010 release for the game. But they are Blizzard, so we'll see.

As far as the C&C mission feel goes, I actually agree to an extent. I like all the things I've seen relating to single player, especially the different unique missions they'll offer. However, if they ever go the C&C route for mutli player, I will curl into the fetal position and weep.

Yay they are finally out of Alpha and the Beta is surely to come out soon in March!
And apparently a lot of other games are coming out that month too...sigh...

Been watching SC2 streams. Zerg and Terran seem to be the ones I want to play. Zerg V toss just roach rush the fckers. BTW Zerg have annoying old witch as an overwatcher, makes me miss the Overmind's voice. Zerg still have the most badass themes.

Some people still playing SC1 on teh battle.net? =3 Just got hooked again after not having touched the game since I was in fifth grade (and that is like 8 years ago), wondering if the Fakkuza have any players still? I'm too scared to go on battlenet and play against random people since I'm totally noobish (i mean really, I suck), I rather get bashed by people I know xD Man, I wanna be able to touch SC2 soon =3
